SHARON — A standout Sharon High School football player is facing charges in connection with a fight Sunday night involving more than 10 people.
Ziyon Uriah Strickland, 18, of 368 Stambaugh Ave., was arraigned Monday afternoon in District Judge Dennis M. Songer’s court on charges of criminal conspiracy, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of riot.
Strickland, a senior at Sharon High School, was an all-state wide receiver in 2017 for the Tigers.
Sharon police said five people were seriously injured Sunday night in the fight, which broke out around 9:40 p.m. Sunday at Wengler Playground on Park Avenue.
Songer ordered Strickland placed in the Mercer County Jail on $50,000 bail. If Strickland posts bail, Songer ordered him to remain at his residence from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and all day on the weekends.
“I’m doing this to keep you out of harm’s way, one way or the other,” the judge said.
