FLORENCE — A player on the University of North Alabama football team has been arrested after police said he beat a man until unconscious following an argument over a female.
Khadedryck Todd, 23, 1301 Appleby Boulevard, Florence, has been charged with first-degree assault. He has been permanently removed from the team, according to university officials.
Todd is accused of beating a 21-year-old Florence man during the altercation that took place Monday evening in the parking lot of a local convenience store.
According to officials with the UNA Athletic Department, Todd was a starting offensive lineman last year and projected to start this year.
The victim of the assault remains in Huntsville Hospital in critical condition in the facility’s intensive care unit.
Todd is in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on bond of $50,000.
