With the news of Patriots safety Patrick Chung’s indictment for possession of cocaine, the Herald compiled a list of New England players (and one owner) who have been arrested or faced criminal charges over the past decade. (NOTE: Facing criminal charges is not an indication of guilt. Some player were not members of the team at the time of their incidents.)
- Owner Robert Kraft: charged with soliciting sex in February 2019 for allegedly soliciting a prostitute at a Florida massage parlor.
- Defensive end Greg Spires: charged with stalking in Concord, N.H.
- Safety Duron Harmon: detained for allegedly trying to bring marijuana into Costa Rica in March 2018.
- Running back Montee Ball: charged with disorderly conduct and battery in 2016 for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
- Wide receiver J.J. Worton: charged with assault and battery for allegedly assaulting two women and one man at a bar in 2016.
- Wide receiver Michael Floyd: charged with driving under the influence in Scottsdale, Ariz., in 2016.
- Wide receiver Josh Gordon: charged with driving under the influence in Raleigh, N.C., in 2014.
- Linebacker Brandon Spikes: pleaded guilty to multiple charges in connection to a hit-and-run in 2015.
- Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard: charged with driving under the influence in Lincoln, Neb., in 2013.
- Tight end Aaron Hernandez: charged and convicted of first-degree murder in 2013 for the slaying of Odin Lloyd.
- Wide receiver Julian Edelman: charged with indecent assault and battery for allegedly groping a woman at a Halloween party in Boston in 2011, though the charges were dropped.
- Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth: charged with misdemeanor sexual assault for allegedly fondling the breast of his server in a hotel restaurant in Washington in 2011.
- Safety Bret Lockett: charged with disorderly conduct in Providence in 2010.
