North Carolina man brings assault weapon, body armor to Coast Guard site

THEY’RE SEVERE WEATHER HEADED YOUR WAY. I’VE BEEN MEOW AT 8:03 WINSTON-SALEM POLICE IS LOOKING FOR THE PERSON WHO SHOT A MAN IN THE SHOULDER. IT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT ON GILMORE AVENUE NEAR 28TH STREET WHEN INVESTIGATORS GOT TO THE SCENE JUST BEFORE 9:00. THEY DID NOT FIND ANY VICTIMS OR SUSPECTS, BUT THEY DID FIND SHELL AND TWO CARS HIT BY BULLETS. IT’S OFFICERS SAY THEY WERE TOLD A VICTIM ARRIVED AT THE HOSPITAL AROUND 10:30 THE VICTIM TOLD POLICE. HE WAS DRIVING WHEN ANOTHER CAR APPROACHED HIM AND SOMEONE STARTED SHOOTING. THEY ARE EXPECTED TO RECOVER. THE FBI IS LOOKING INTO A DEPUTY INVOLVED SHOOTING IN WILKES COUNTY INVESTIGATORS. SAY THEY WERE SERVING A SEARCH WARRANT TO LIE KILL WE FRIDAY AFTERNOON ON SPAR ROAD IN NORTH WILKESBORO. THEY SAY KILBY RAN INTO A GARAGE THEN POINTED A GUN AT DEPUTIES WHEN HE WAS ORDERED TO SHOW. HANDS ONE OF THOSE DEPUTIES SHOT KILL. WE HE WAS AIRLIFTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND IS IN STABLE CONDITION. North Carolina man charged for bringing assault weapon, body armor to Coast Guard site


A North Carolina man has been charged with trying to bring an assault weapon, body armor and hollow-point bullets into a U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in New Jersey.Dustin A. Peters, 25, of Wilmington, went to the facility in Cape May to attend a graduation ceremony o Thursday, authorities said. The bullets were found during a routine vehicle search, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement. The FBI was assisting in the case.
Peters was charged with a variety of weapons and other offenses. He was being held Friday at the Cape May County Jail pending a court hearing. It was not immediately clear if he was represented by an attorney.
