A Jackson State football player is charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection with a crash that killed a Byram woman, police said.Tiffany Harris, 36, died April 18 after she was hit by a car at Siwell Road and Byram Drive, police said. The driver, Trevarius Clark, 21, was injured during the crash and was taken to a hospital, Byram Police Chief Luke Thompson said. State law requires evidence and blood samples to be taken when there is a fatal crash, Thompson said. The chief said the results of the tests were returned in August and there was enough evidence to charge Clark with vehicular manslaughter. Thompson would not say what the evidence is because the investigation is still underway.Thompson said the Byram Police Department has been in contact with Jackson State University officials about the case. Clark was arrested Oct. 29 and released from jail two days later after posting bail, Thompson said. Clark was suspended after his arrest school officials said. The case will be sent to a Hinds County grand jury, Thompson said.
