A forward for the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks suffered potentially career-ending injuries in a car crash with a suspected drunk driver.
Chandler Parsons, 31, suffered a traumatic brain injury, disc herniation, and torn labrum after a man, who was later arrested for driving under the influence, allegedly hit Parsons’s car on his way home from practice last Wednesday. Parsons retained Morgan & Morgan “to help preserve all his rights,” and the law firm released a statement, which was first obtained by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, on Monday acknowledging the crash.
“The at-fault driver created utter chaos on the roadway, needlessly endangering the lives of countless motorists; he now stands charged with DUI, admitted drinking, had alcohol in the car with him, passed out after causing a three-car crash at 2:00PM on a Wednesday in a busy intersection, seriously injuring and potentially ending Mr. Parsons’ career a result,” the statement read.
The player’s representatives continued: “Chandler was in peak physical condition at the time of the wreck. He is now working with a team of doctors to regain his health, and at this time, his ability to return to play is unclear.”

Parsons was placed in the NBA’s concussion protocol after suffering a head injury and whiplash in the crash. The team did not provide additional details about the incident at the time, according to ESPN.
The forward has played in only five games this season as he dealt with recurring knee injuries that have forced him to miss a significant amount of playing time since he agreed to a four-year, $94.4 million deal with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2016.
