Felipe Vazquez Facing New Charges
1 day agoSuspended Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Felipe Vazquez is now facing child-pornography charges in St. Louis, as he’s reportedly accused of sending pornographic pictures of himself to a minor last summer. The 28-year-old left-hander was charged with statutory sexual assault and other offenses in September of last year for having improper sexual conduct with a then-13-year-old girl in Arizona. Vazquez was later charged with additional counts of possession of child pornography and unlawful conduct with a minor related to text messages sent between Vazquez and the girl. Vazquez’s defense attorney, Gary Gerson, claims that Vazquez is innocent of the local charges and alleged that the victim initiated sexual contact and lied about her age. In a shortened MLB season in 2020, Vazquez is highly unlikely to return, and he’d be a long shot to play again in the major leagues beyond this season if he’s found guilty.
