A Florida man has been charged with simple assault in an incident early Saturday morning in which it is believed the victim was NFL player Dallas Goedert.
The news release from the Aberdeen Police Department does not name the victim, though all of the details align with a report of Goedert, a Britton native, being punched at The Zoo bar just after 1 a.m. Saturday.
Police say they responded to the 1000 block of South Main Street at 1:07 a.m. in reference to an assault. That is the block of The Zoo.
“It was discovered that an adult male had been punched in the face. The male was transported to Avera St. Luke’s Hospital (in Aberdeen) where he was treated and released,” according to the police news release.
Kyle Douglas Hadala, 29, of Sarasota, Fla., was arrested and charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor, according to the release.
No other information was immediately available.
ESPN.com reported Goedert is back at home and is “fine.”
Goedert went to South Dakota State University and is entering his third season as a tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles.
