Warrant out for arrest of ex-HSU football player charged with on-campus rape

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has released a warrant for the arrest of 25-year-old Raul Sierra, who, according to court documents, failed to show up to two of his recent court dates. Sierra is charged with rape.

The former Humboldt State University student and football player was arrested in 2016 for a sexual assault that officials say occurred in a campus residence hall. The University’s Athletic department said his arrest for the alleged acquaintance rape followed an extensive investigation by the University Police Department.

Court records show that Sierra was supposed to have his review diversion hearing March 7, but he did not show up.

Sierra was a junior at the time of the attack, and had reportedly transferred from Southwestern College in Chula Vista.
