Top Hayden High School basketball player charged with child sex crimes

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNT) – A top basketball recruit from Hayden High School has been charged with two felony sex crimes. Zach Harvey, a Topeka junior, faces charges involving an underage girl in Sedgwick County. 

Harvey and two other teenage boys from the Wichita area were charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child last year. The charges stem from an incident on March 23, 2017.

Harvey is also charged with the promotion of a child to perform sexually explicit acts involving a girl who was 15 years old at the time. Harvey was 16 at the time of the incident.

The latest pretrial hearing set for Thursday has been continued to May 29.

A plea has not been entered in the case and an official trial date has not been set.
