IN ALL, FOUR INMATES IN THE STATE PRISON SYSTEM HAVE DIED IN THE OUTBREAK. A NEW STUDY IS DETAILING THE EXTENT OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC IN THE COUNTRY’S JAILS AND PRISONS. THE CDC LOOKED AT DATA FROM 37 STATES AND TERRITORIES. 32 OF THOSE HAD AT LEAST ONE LABORATORY CONFIRMED CASE OF COVID-19 AMONG INMATES OR STAFF IN 420 SEPARATE PRISONS OR JAILS. MORE THAN HALF REPORTED CASES ONLY AMONG STAFF MEMBERS. AS OF APRIL 21, THERE HAVE BEEN NEARLY 5000 CASES AND 88 DEATHS AMONG INMATES. NEARLY 3000 CASES AND 15 DEATHS HAVE BEEN REPORTED AMONG STAFF MEMBERS. BRIANA: TODAY, WE’RE LEARNING MORE THAN 70 OF FORSYTH COUNTY’S 347 CASES ARE TIED TO AN OUTBREAK AT THE TYSON FOOD PLANT IN WILKES COUNTY. SO FAR, THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 1900 POSITIVE CASES IN OUR AREA. WE ONLY KNOW OF ABOUT 700 PEOPLE WHO HAVE RECOVERED. EXPERTS WARN THAT WE SHOULD BE DOING FAR MORE THAN THAT IF WE’RE GOING TO PREVENT A SECOND WAVE. A Thomasville woman is charged with soliciting a juvenile to engage in sexual acts by computer.Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on Jan. 8 in reference to an adult attempting to commit a sexual act via an electronic device.Click the video player above for headlines from WXII 12 News.Detectives identified Kimberly Ann Hughes, 35, and found evidence that she had solicited the juvenile to engage in sexual acts with her and another adult.Hughes was arrested Tuesday and charged with one count of solicitation of a child by computer. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 26.
