Negotiators and specialist police were then called in to make contact with the man.
The woman was freed from the garage at 10am, with the man surrendering without incident 15 minutes later.
He has now been charge with deprivation of liberty, break and enter, burglary, fraud, failing to take reasonable care and precautions with a syringe, possessing tainted property and three counts of receiving tainted property.
The man is expected to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Monday.
