Both Black Leopards and Ivan Minnaert are waiting for a court date for the attempted murder charges laid by the coach against the club’s team manager Elijah Mulaudzi .
The Belgian was left bruised when he tried to avoid being allegedly hit by a car team manager Elijah Mulaudzi came to collect. Minnaert had his contract with the Limpopo side terminated after just a month.
He only coached six games and won two during his stay.
“It was the team manager. I’m not allowed to say his name but I think the son [chairman David Thidiela’s son Chief Thidiela] was there also.” Minnaert tells Kickoff.com.
“According to the termination letter I had to bring it [the car] on Wednesday at 17h00. I stood in front of the car because he did not have permission [a letter] to take the car. He had no right to take the car, but fortunately I managed to move out of the way on time. After a while he came back and he tried to hit me, he pushed me. I went to the police and they investigated the case, two days later they arrested him.
“I don’t know I need to wait [court case date]. They released him on bail but they charged him with attempted murder.”
Minnaert says his relationship with the club turned sour after he was forced to submit a report about every player’s performance.
“The thing is they asked me to produce documents and that was not possible to produce. They were asking me to produce individual assessment of the players but when you don’t have any technical team, when you are alone … because I had no assistant, nobody. So I cannot do all the work. I told them I don’t have any issue to make an assessment of the whole team [not individual players].
“I had those [team assessment] documents in our last meeting but they never wanted to see them.”
Leopards spokesperson Berry Ramunenyiwa confirmed that there is a legal battle going on between the two parties but refused to get into detail.
“The truth is we’ve indeed parted ways with him. But as for some other issues we can’t give a comment because they are now in court.
“He is not part of the team anymore. One thing is that…whatever he is alleging we cannot as a team comment on at the moment, because whatever we say will not matter as the case is in court. It’s an assault case,” Ramunenyiwa says.
