Police from the Northern Beaches area command began a search with the help of neighbouring police commands including North Shore, Kings Cross and Sydney City, the dog unit and highway patrol command.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested after a pursuit on foot on Walsh Street in North Narrabeen at about 1am on Saturday.

Another 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy were arrested at a home in North Narrabeen at 3am on Saturday.

A 16-year-old was also arrested in Warriewood at about 4.30am on Sunday and all four were taken to Manly police station.

Three of the teenagers were charged with affray, using offensive language in or near a public space and resisting or hindering a police officer in the execution of duty.

The two 16-year-olds were also charged with assaulting a police officer without actual bodily harm and one of them was additionally charged with stealing from a person.

One of the 17-year-olds was released pending further investigation.

They have all been refused bail and will appear in Children’s Court on Sunday.

“The chief inspector sustained minor injuries and a constable involved in the foot pursuit sustained head and knee injuries and was taken to hospital, however, he has since been released,” according to a police statement.

Murder charge for man who allegedly kept the body of Nicole Cartwright for two days

When her body was found it took almost one week to formally identify Ms Cartwright, due to the bruising she had suffered. She had sustained head injuries and her wrists were bound.

Her death captured the hearts of the local community, which held a candlelit vigil to pay their respects in the days after her body was found.

“This was a young woman who was brutalised, murdered and dumped in a park in a callous act,” Homicide Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said.

On Wednesday Ms Cartwright’s brother Ben said: “Nicole was very much loved as a sister and daughter, a cherished member of our family.”

He said his family grieves daily for his sister and “the life she never got to live. We are still struggling to comprehend that she will never be coming home.”

Ms Cartwright lived with her parents at Lansvale in Sydney’s west.

Friends described her as “a beautiful girl, who wouldn’t even hurt a fly.”

She was a lover of dogs and a regular user of online dating applications, classifieds, and social media, all of which she used to meet people.

Investigations into six such dating platforms are ongoing. They are not believed to be mainstream dating apps such as Tinder.

Police made two public appeals for information about Ms Cartwright and her whereabouts at the time of her death. The second appeal was attended by her mother Brenda, father Terry and her brother Ben and his wife Jackie.

Public transport CCTV images and Ms Cartwright’s Opal card were critical in leading police to map out her movements in her final days.

On September 30 Ms Cartwright was seen at Museum railway station, later meeting up with a group in Paddington around 9.45pm. She was then seen walking with a friend on Flinders Street about 10pm before catching an Uber on Moore Park Road about 12.30am on October 1.

Ms Cartwright then travelled to the vicinity of Robson Park on Crescent Street, Haberfield. It is alleged she was headed to meet Mr Pietrobon, who was allegedly the last person to see her alive.

Subsequent forensic testing found traces of methylamphetamine in her system. However, a post mortem was unable to determine the exact cause of death.

Both public appeals garnered a number of tips, including people who had met Ms Cartwright on a casual basis in the period leading up to her death.

Detective Superintendent Doherty said both community assistance and forensic evidence allegedly linked Mr Pietrobon to the crime scene and Ms Cartwright’s body.

“It will be alleged this man took her from an address to the reserve and dumped her body … it is a callous and heinous criminal act and a tragedy for the family,” he said.

He said the accused allegedly used a number of cars in the process of discarding Ms Cartwright’s body.

It took almost two years to build the alleged case against Mr Pietrobon, but his arrest on Wednesday was far quicker.

The 51-year-old walked straight into the hands of arresting officers at Parramatta police station, where he was attending on an unrelated matter.

He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.

On the one year anniversary of her death last year, Ben Cartwright pleaded for information from the public and delivered a message to those responsible.

“To the person who did this, you have cut short Nicole’s life, destroyed our family and shattered our heart.”

Former Jacksonville Jaguars star Telvin Smith arrested for allegedly having sex with minor – TheGrio

In 2019, Jacksonville Jaguar linebacker Telvin Smith told the Jaguars that after a five-year NFL career he was retiring so that he could “get his world” in order.

It looks like that never happened. The 2017 Pro Bowl player has now been accused of having sex with a minor according to Bleacher Report.

The 29-year-old Valdosta, Fl. native was drafted by the Jags in 2014 out of Florida State University a football powerhouse. Smith was signed to a 4-year, $45M extension in 2017.

According to TMZ, the arrest is related to an ongoing case from November 2019 when Smith was arrested after police came to his Jacksonville area home. The Jacksonville sheriff’s office tweeted about a raid on a marijuana growing outfit in a residential home that netted more than 50 pounds of ‘processed marijuana’ and $5700. But Smith was never identified as the person whose house was raided so that could have been a completely different case.

Now he’s accused of having sex with a 17-year-old multiple times and the Cadillac Escalade seized in the earlier raid has revealed a DNA match with the girl, according to TMZ. They also cite court documents that say Smith met the girl at her workplace and despite co-workers telling him she was underage, he continued to pursue her.

The Escalade is one of the places they allegedly had sex. Smith reportedly offered the girl $200 which she refused but then took $100 to buy emergency contraception according to arrest documents. She ultimately told her family about the encounters ultimately leading to today’s arrest.

Smith was arrested for “unlawful sexual activity with certain minors” and booked on $50,003 bail.

Smith played 76 games for the Jaguars and had 7.5 sacks, 586 total tackles, nine interceptions, six fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles, returning four turnovers for touchdowns.

Smith’s Instagram is set to private but after Kobe Bryant‘s death in January, he posted about not being able to imagine anything happening to his 5-year-old daughter and that he “didn’t want the next 5 years to go like the last 5.” And he added “I gotta get this right for her.”

The Jaguars, to whom Smith is still attached as he’s on their reserve/retired list according to Bleacher Report, released a statement that said:

“The Jaguars are aware of the report involving former linebacker Telvin Smith. The club is unable to comment further on this ongoing investigation.”

Ex-FSU OL Jauan Williams Arrested on Battery Charges for Allegedly Striking GF

Former Florida State offensive lineman Jauan Williams was arrested Wednesday in Tallahassee and charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery for allegedly hitting his then-girlfriend on two occasions in 2018, according to Terry Spencer of the Associated Press.

According to court documents obtained by Spencer, the woman denied being hit at the time, but Tallahassee police said the case was “reopened last year after she contacted police saying Williams had sent her video of her having sex with another man.” Police said “she provided photos of bruises and text messages between her and Williams that support her allegations that he did strike her.”

“I didn’t do anything. I have so much disbelief, so much confusion,” Williams told Spencer, saying they argued but it never turned physical. “She is trying to kill my career.”

He also said that it would have been obvious to authorities at the time if a 6’7″ and 310-pound football player had struck her.

The woman told police in 2018 that Williams had overturned chairs and tables during their argument, throwing items, but hadn’t struck her. But Tallahassee police investigator Charzetta Felton-Stevens said that last year, the woman “told her that Williams had choked her, spit on her and dragged her across the floor.”

Additionally, she “shared text messages between her and Williams from that 2018 night where she wrote that she lied to officers about bruises and cuts and hid marijuana from them. The woman texted Williams photos of bruises on her chin, her arms, torso and legs that she accused him of inflicting.”

She also told Felton-Stevens that Williams had punched her in the face in a separate altercation.

Williams was released following his arrest on a $500 bond Thursday.

He is currently in the process of transferring away from Florida State and is no longer a part of the team there, the school told Spencer.

WESTERN Bulldogs vice-captain Lachie Hunter was driven by teammate Bailey Smith from the scene of a drink-driving incident where he is alleged to have hit four parked cars on Thursday evening.

Hunter, who later blew 0.123, was taken by the second-year midfielder to teammate Billy Gowers’ house in South Yarra after the incident in Middle Park around 8.45pm.

Police arrived at the scene of the crash in Wright Street to find Hunter’s damaged SUV with the star midfielder nowhere to be seen.

He was later located at a South Yarra address – now confirmed as Gowers’ property – and given a preliminary breath test. A subsequent evidentiary breath test recorded a reading more than two times the legal blood alcohol limit.

Hunter’s car, along with two of the four cars he is alleged to have hit, was towed from the scene.

It is believed one of the cars hit by Hunter belonged to the parents of Smith’s girlfriend which became known at the time of exchanging contact details.

Alcohol was found on the front seat of Hunter’s car.

On Friday morning he was set to be charged on summons.

The 25-year-old’s licence was suspended for 12 months, while he was also hit with a $1652 penalty notice for breaching strict social distancing directions in place to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Police confirmed two men were being investigated.

“Two other men, known to the driver involved, may be fined for breaching the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer,” the statement on Friday afternoon said.

“The matter of their involvement with the driver following the collision is being looked into.”

It was later confirmed Smith received a $1652 penalty, while Gowers received a warning.

The AFL Integrity Unit is also investigating the incident.

After departing Gowers’ house, it is understood Hunter then went to his sister’s property for the rest of the evening.

Hunter and Gowers are close friends and last year travelled in the off-season together.

The Dogs were scrambling for information of the incident when they were called on Friday morning.

“I can confirm there was an incident with one of our players,” Dogs president Peter Gordon told AFL.com.au.

“We’re in the process of investigating what happened and we’ll say something more when we know something more about it.”

Lachie Hunter appears to fumble on purpose to inch closer to the goal

Earlier in the night, around 7pm AEST, Hunter posted a photo on social media with a group of friends in a ‘Zoom’ video teleconferencing call. He appeared to be alone in the image.

Police provided AFL.com.au with a statement in the early hours of Friday morning.

“Prahran Highway Patrol were called to Middle Park Thursday evening following reports a car had crashed into a number of parked cars,” the statement read.

“The crash occurred on Wright Street where it’s believed a Toyota SUV crashed into four unoccupied parked cars about 8.45pm.

“When police arrived, it was found the driver had left the scene.

“Attending police made follow up enquiries and located the 25-year-old driver at an address in South Yarra.

“The man’s licence was immediately suspended for 12 months and it is expected will be charged on summons with drink driving and other traffic matters.

“Whilst committing the offences the man was found to be in breach of the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer, and he was issued a $1652 penalty notice.

“The directions by the Chief Health Officer, under the State of Emergency declared in Victoria, have been enacted to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.”

Having served in the Dogs’ leadership group since 2018, Hunter was elevated to vice-captain in December under new skipper Marcus Bontempelli.

In March last year Hunter signed a five-year extension to remain with the Dogs until the end of 2024.

Hunter’s manager was contacted for comment.

Dean Laidley gets bail after allegedly sending aggressive messages

Mr Laidley wore a black long-sleeved top as well as a protective mask and gloves but took those off during the hearing.

The AFL Players Association is to pay the costs for Mr Laidley’s treatment, the court was told.

Mr Gilligan ruled it was appropriate Mr Laidley be treated for his problems, and that his time at the clinic would ameliorate the risks of his release. Awaiting a possible trial while in custody would mean a wait of up to three years, the magistrate said.

“No doubt the applicant’s short time in custody … has come as a sobering experience to him,” he said.

Police raised concerns that the clinic was not secure, however Jackson Oppy, the general manager, said the facility used motion sensor cameras, and would alert police if Mr Laidley left without permission.

Earlier, the court was told that during a police search after his recent arrest, Mr Laidley was allegedly found in possession of 0.43 grams of a substance police believe is methamphetamine and investigators found he was concealing the drugs in a bra he was wearing.

A group of high-profile AFL figures, including former coaches Denis Pagan, Guy McKenna and Mark Williams, have written character references for the former North player and coach, along with former North Melbourne players Wayne Schwass and Brent Harvey and the club’s former chairman, James Brayshaw.

Tim Harrington, another former North player who now works with the AFL Players Association, is another character referee.

Senior Constable James Maddock told the court that between April 4 and May 2, Mr Laidley tried to contact the woman more than 100 times in phone calls, emails and text messages.

He also took photographs of her home and her car, and contacted the woman’s body corporate in an attempt to obtain CCTV footage.

Senior Constable Maddock that during this period Mr Laidley was verbally abusive and aggressive, called her a ‘‘slut’’ and a ‘‘c—’’ and at one point said, ‘‘I am going to ram you with the car when you leave.’’

He is also accused of sending her a distressing photograph of himself and told her she had driven him to consider suicide.

His lawyers dispute allegations he was aggressive.

Defence counsel Philip Dunn, QC, said that Mr Laidley and the woman were involved in a financial dispute.

Details of the alleged financial dispute cannot be reported for legal reasons.

Mr Dunn urged Mr Gilligan to grant bail so that Mr Laidley could attend a private hospital and get treatment for his problems. The former coach would have no access to a phone or computer during his stay, and be drug tested twice a week.

‘‘Mr Laidley is not a bad man, he is just a man who has lost his way,’’ Mr Dunn said.

‘‘He needs to be helped and he’s prepared to take that help.’’ Mr Dunn said his client was lucky to have been protected by the AFL ‘‘bubble’’ for 30 years, which gave him support and structure. But once that part of his life ended, his emotional and mental health problems surfaced.

Mr Laidley was a player with West Coast and North and then senior coach of the Kangaroos. He also had stints as an assistant coach at other AFL clubs.

Police opposed bail over concerns about Mr Laidley’s escalating and dangerous alleged offending, which had let the woman fearful for her safety.

Senior Constable Maddock said Mr Laidley had ‘‘bombarded’’ the woman with calls, texts and emails, and that they were abusive and aggressive. The court heard Mr Laidley and the woman were permitted to discuss the financial arrangement, but Mr Laidley often focused on the woman’s personal situation.

Mr Laidley, of Moonee Ponds, is due to return to court on June 9.

Outside court, Mr Dunn said his client was ashamed of some of his behaviour but focused on addressing his mental health. It was too early to say how he would plead.

Asked about Mr Laidley’s reaction to the release of the photographs of him in the police station, Mr Dunn said, “He’s devastated, as is his family.”

Four police officers have been suspended, and could face charges, over taking and distributing the pictures.

The photographs, which showed him wearing a wig and make-up while being interviewed, were spread across social media and published by some news outlets.

The Age has viewed the photographs of Mr Laidley and decided not to publish them.

Earl Thomas Was Allegedly Held at Gunpoint by Wife After She Caught Him Cheating

Baltimore Ravens safety Earl Thomas took to IG to announce that he’ll join TMZ to discuss an altercation that occurred between himself and his wife, Nina.

Shortly after Thomas posted the message, TMZ published a report that detailed the situation. According to police reports, Earl left their home after getting into an argument with Nina and was picked up but his brother, Seth. Later in the day, Nina checked into Earl’s Snapchat and saw that he was with another woman. She was also able to find out his location, an Airbnb rental in Austin, Texas. Once she pinpointed where Earl was at, she took his 9mm Berreta and called up two women to accompany her to confront her husband. Nina said she brought the gun to “scare him.”

When they arrived at the Airbnb, they “discovered Earl and Seth naked in bed with other women.”

Nina admits that she then pointed the gun at her husband’s head, thinking “she took out the magazine thinking that the gun could not fire.” Police later found out that there was a bullet in the chamber. Footage that was shot by one of the women that accompanied Nina was reviewed by cops, who said that the gun was “less than a foot away” from Earl’s head. They added, “it can clearly be seen that Nina’s finger was on the trigger and the safety is disengaged.”

Police say that Earl was able to get the gun away from Nina, who was later arrested. She was charged with burglary of a residence with intent to commit aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but was freed on bond, TMZ reports. The two other women were also arrested. The Ravens player told cops that his wife struck him multiple times as he attempted to get the gun away from her. A woman that was at the house with Earl and his brother Seth alleged that Nina threatened her and the others with the gun and told them that she had “something for all you hoes.”

Thomas didn’t provide his side of the story but will presumably get into it all during his interview with the publication. “Obviously this is not how I wanted my birthday breakfast to start out or my birthday but it is what it is,” Thomas, who’s turning 32 on Thursday, May 7, wrote of the April 13 incident.

“I just wanted to get ahead of it,” Thomas said in a video that accompanied the post. “I mean, it’s really not anybody’s business. It pisses me off that it got out, but it’s the world we live in today. But instead of talking about us, just keep us in y’all prayers. Stuff like this happens, bro. We try to live the best life we possibly can but sometimes it don’t go as planned. Just pray for us as we go through this stuff. We’ve been talking. I’m seeing my kids, so just keep us in your prayers.”

Second AFL player allegedly busted drink driving

Adelaide forward Tyson Stengle has become the second AFL player allegedly busted for drink driving in less than 24 hours.

According to the Crows, Stengle was allegedly caught drink-driving in an unregistered car, before recording a blood alcohol reading of 0.125 in Adelaide’s south-western suburbs.

It comes less than 24 hours after Western Bulldogs vice-captain Lachie Hunter was allegedly caught drink driving after crashing into four parked cars on Thursday night.

Crows football boss Adam Kelly said Stengle would face club-imposed sanctions to be decided by senior management.

“Tyson is deeply remorseful and embarrassed by his actions, and we have expressed our disappointment in his decision making,” Kelly said.

“Fortunately, no one was hurt and he will receive appropriate education so he learns from this mistake.

“Tyson is a valued member of the Crows family and we will continue to support him through this difficult period.”

Stengle is facing both police and club sanctions for his actions, with both yet to be handed down.

The Western Bulldogs, meantime, are continuing its investigation into Hunter’s action and the involvement of two other players, Bailey Smith and Billy Gowers.

It’s reported Hunter crashed outside a house Smith happened to be visiting, with the latter then driving Hunter to the home of teammate Gowers.

Hunter is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and other traffic matters.

His license was immediately suspended for 12 months and he was also slapped with a $1652 fine for breaching coronavirus restrictions.

An overseas based rugby player who had allegedly breached self-quarantine measures has been charged.

The accused was arrested after he completed the mandatory self-quarantine process and was cleared by the Health Officials.

He has been charged with one count of failure to comply with lawful order.

He will be produced at the Nadi Magistrates Court today.
