Dodgers outfielder Andrew Toles, who hasn’t played since 2018, was arrested and jailed this week when police found him sleeping behind Key West Airport in South Florida.

Toles, 28, was charged with misdemeanor trespassing Monday night. Police listed his address as “streets of Key West.” The Miami Herald reported he ignored requests by the police to leave.

His arraignment is scheduled for July 2.

Toles didn’t report to spring training last year and has since been on the club’s restricted list.

It was the latest of several setbacks for Toles, who has dealt with anxiety during his baseball career.

Toles was dismissed from Tennessee’s team as a sophomore in 2011 and suspended while at Chipola College. He missed two months of the 2014 season because of personal issues.

The Dodgers signed Toles in September 2015 after the Tampa Bay Rays released him. He made his major league debut the following season and became a valuable contributor.

He appeared in 46 regular-season games in 2016, batting .314 with an .870 on-base-plus-slugging percentage before making the postseason roster. He batted .364 in 26 plate appearances in the playoffs.

Former Bradford City player Tyrell Robinson has been sent to Bradford Crown Court on June 16 charged with child sex offences.

Robinson, 22, of South Ockendon, Essex, appeared via Skype at a hearing at West Yorkshire Magistrates’ Court sitting at Leeds this morning.

He was charged with engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child, making an indecent image of a child and two counts of distributing an indecent image of a child.

Robinson was not asked to enter pleas to any of the four counts.

He was unable to be heard by the court but they could see him on the screen and he indicated that he understood the charges.

The District Judge ordered Robinson to appear in person at the hearing at Bradford Crown Court.

His bail was enlarged on condition he lives at his home address so that letters from the court will reach him.

Robinson’s co-accused, Korrie Berman, appeared before the magistrates at a separate hearing this morning.

Berman, 21, of Barnmead Meadow, Grays, Thurrock, must also attend at Bradford Crown Court on June 16.

Robinson faces the following four charges:

  • On 13/08/2018 at Bradford, being a person aged 18 or over, intentionally touched a girl aged 14, not reasonably believing she was 16 or over, the touching being sexual and involving the penetration of her vagina with a part of your body, namely your penis.
  • On 13/08/2018 at Bradford made an indecent photograph, namely one Category A image recovered from snapchat stories, of children.
  • On 13/08/2018 at Bradford distributed an indecent photograph, namely Category A image via Snapchat to Berman, of children
  • On 17/12/2017 at Bradford distributed an indecent photograph, namely Category A video of a child.

Berman is charged with five offences of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 at Bradford.

An 18-year-old woman has been charged with murder following the death of a teenager in Fife.

Joshua Kerr, 18, died following a collision between a pedestrian and a car near Leslie on Friday.

Grace Ross, of Glenrothes, appeared in private in Falkirk Sheriff Court on Monday.

She made no plea to a charge of murder and was released on bail.

Her case was continued for further examination and the date of her next appearance is yet to be confirmed.

Joshua suffered serious injuries in the incident near Little Balquhomrie Farm and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services rushed to his aid following a report of a collision involving one vehicle and a pedestrian at around 11.10am.

Joshua’s parents Jamie Simpson and Angela Kerr later paid tribute to him in a statement which said: “His mum, dad, little brother and anyone that ever knew Josh will never forget him.

“He was the perfect person and we will forever love him.”

Joshua was a talented pool player, having represented Scotland, and an ardent Raith Rovers supporter.

A spokesman for Raith Rovers Football Club, where he was a season ticket holder, said everyone was devastated to hear about the tragedy.

In a statement, the club said: “The thoughts of everyone at RRFC are with the family at this sad time.

“Always willing to help others, Josh, alongside his mum Angela, also helped out in hospitality at Raith Rovers during the season just ended.”

A donations page set up by Joshua’s friends at the Ciswo Snooker League to help his family during their grief had raised more than £3,000 by Monday afternoon.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – A Guatemalan man living illegally in the U.S. said little as he faced a judge after being charged in a drunken-driving crash that killed Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson and an Uber driver.

A Marion County judge entered a not guilty plea for 37-year-old Manuel Orrego-Savala during a court hearing Wednesday.

He’s charged with four felony counts related to the crash early Sunday along Interstate 70 in Indianapolis. The charges are causing death while driving intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.

Orrego-Savala’s only responses in court were answering through an interpreter as the judge explained the proceedings and charges.

Police say the 26-year-old Jackson and his 54-year-old Uber driver, Jeffrey Monroe, were standing outside Monroe’s car along the interstate when they were struck by a pickup truck Orrego-Savala was driving.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – The man accused of driving drunk and killing a Colts player and Uber driver now knows how much trouble he’s in.

Wednesday, the Marion County prosecutor charged Manuel Orrego-Savala with leaving the scene of a wreck and causing the deaths while driving drunk.

The case is attracting national attention, including tweets by President Donald Trump that could affect the trial.

Manuel Orrego-Savala’s attorney, hired a day before the initial hearing, was already worried that his client won’t get a fair trial.

“I have serious concerns about that for the fact that he is an illegal immigrant and the peoples know that,” Torres said.

Orrego-Savala, police claim, was severely intoxicated when his pickup crashed early Sunday morning, killing Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson and Uber driver Jeffery Monroe.

“One of the things we want to do is bring justice to the families,” chief trial deputy prosecutor Ryan Mears said after the hearing.

Investigators need to put Orrego-Savala in the driver’s seat of the pickup that crashed. He was seen running away and, according to court documents, admitted driving the truck, but then stopped answering a police officer’s questions. Prosecutors want Orrego-Savala’s DNA to compare it to blood found in the truck.

“It would be a helpful piece of evidence, but we believe there is strong circumstantial evidence in the case,” Mears said.

Orrego-Savala has numerous identities. Federal authorities say the Guatemalan is in the U.S. illegally and was deported twice before.

Tuesday, President Trump tweeted, “So disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson.” The President did not mention Monroe in his tweet.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry called the comments about the deadly crime “ghoulish and inappropriate.”

“Politicize it to talk about border security and ignoring the fact a second innocent man had died in this incident. It’s fair to say we were beyond aggravated,” he said.

Curry went on to explain that even with the publicity, he believes Orrego-Savala will get a fair trial.

“We have a horrible accident that’s resulted in the death of two individuals and we will prosecute the case like any other case,” he said.

Orrego-Savala has previous drunk driving convictions. Federal authorities are pursuing immigration charges.

Considered a flight risk and threat to public safety, Orrego-Savala is jailed on a $200,000 bond. That’s five times higher than the bond typically associated with the charges against him.

Orrego-Savala will be tried on the criminal charges, before facing immigration charges in federal court.

One of Waite High School’s top basketball players appeared before a Lucas County Juvenile Court judge Friday facing a complicity to murder charge connected to a man’s West Toledo death.

Carl Banks, Jr., 18, appeared for a detention hearing in juvenile court before Judge Denise Navarre Cubbon. He will continue to be held in the juvenile jail.

Prosecutors said they will file a motion for certification for the teen to be tried as an adult. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 15. If probable cause is found, the case will then be transferred to the adult division.

Mr. Banks had been charged with aggravated robbery in Lucas County Juvenile Court for his role in the Nov. 18 shooting death of Jerry McNeal, 31. Additional evidence prompted a complicity to murder charge against Mr. Banks, who was 17 at the time of the incident, prosecutors said.

The City League’s leading scorer, Mr. Banks was suspended by Toledo Public Schools after he was arrested in connection to a fatal shooting and suspected robbery in West Toledo.

Mr. Banks was arrested at school Thursday morning after prosecutors added the complicity to murder charge. He is being held in the Lucas County Juvenile Detention Center.

Two other adults are charged in connection to this incident.

James Moore, 19, and Eric Jones, Jr., are each charged with aggravated murder, murder, and aggravated robbery for the incident.

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — An Old Dominion University football player charged with assault and battery was back in court Tuesday.

Manuel Matiarena pleaded no contest to his misdemeanor charge. According to his lawyer, the court accepted the plea agreement.

A spokeswoman with the Norfolk Commonwealth’s attorney tells 10 On Your Side that the evidence was found sufficient and the finding was taken under advisement for one year. He’s to be of uniform good behavior, complete 20 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

This stems from an incident in June when officers were called to The Edge on Hampton Boulevard for an assault. According to a Norfolk police spokesman, officers responded to a fight and assault that sent two people to the hospital. Police say no weapons were used during the incident.

The other player who was allegedly involved is Devin Hannan, who’s been suspended indefinitely from the team. He is charged with two felonies, including one count of aggravated malicious wounding, along with a misdemeanor of assault and battery.

Hannan’s case has moved to circuit court, though no court date has been set at this time.

According to Old Dominion University communications, Matiarena is no longer a member of the team.

A former professional football player charged with murder in the slashing death of his wife in a Park City hotel in November made a brief appearance in 3rd District Court on Monday, not saying a word as another court date was set in February.

Anthony McClanahan, 46, was cuffed and wore a yellow prison jumpsuit as he appeared before Judge Kent Holmberg at Silver Summit. John Johnson, one of the public defenders assigned to the case, told the judge he is awaiting a report from the medical examiner and asked that the case be pushed back up to four weeks. The judge set another appearance on Feb. 12.

McClanahan did not speak and law enforcement led him out of the courtroom through a side door after the appearance.

Johnson said in an interview afterward the medical examiner has not provided information such as a toxicology report as well as forensics evidence.

“The reality is we cannot assess this case,” Johnson said.

Prosecutors claim McClanahan killed his wife, Keri Colleen McClanahan, on Nov. 2 in a hotel room on Bonanza Drive. A charging document filed against McClanahan indicated a Park City Police Department sergeant saw him at 1:30 a.m. in a landscaped area outside the hotel on his stomach crawling before he stood up to wave down the sergeant. He went to his stomach again, making convulsing movements and moving his arms like he was making a snow angel, the prosecutors said.

McClanahan told the sergeant two or three men attacked himself, his wife and his baby, according to the charging document, indicating that McClanahan did not provide the name of his wife or where she was. He was bleeding with cuts in multiple places, the prosecutors said.

Another person at the hotel called 911 at about the same time McClanahan was found. The person told a dispatcher a man matching the description of McClanahan was seen crawling in the halls of the second and third floors and seeking help, according to the charging document.

Officers found a room with the door open with the door and floor showing blood. They discovered the wife unresponsive with blood covering her inside the room. She suffered wounds to her neck and wounds consistent with someone attempting to defend themselves, the prosecutors said. A bracelet knife was found nearby and an autopsy determined the wounds to her neck were consistent with those made by the knife that was recovered, the charging document said. The medical examiner and evidence gathered at the scene suggest she “put up a significant struggle before her death,” according to prosecutors.

Police investigators reviewed the security camera tapes from the hotel looking for footage of the two or three men McClanahan said were the attackers but did not see any matching people. The last time someone entered the room with the keycard was 9:25 p.m. on Nov. 1, and there was no evidence that someone forced their way into the room, the prosecutors said.

McClanahan is being held at the Salt Lake County jail on an unrelated charge.
