AUSTIN, Texas – Details have surfaced of an incident in April involving former Texas Longhorns star and current Baltimore Ravens safety Earl Thomas and his wife, Nina Thomas.

According to Travis County court documents obtained by KSAT-12, Nina Thomas was arrested on April 13 in Austin after she confronted Earl Thomas with a gun and pointed the weapon at his head.

The arrest affidavit stated that Nina Thomas confronted Earl at a rental home because she suspected him of cheating on her.

Nina and two other women broke into the home and found Earl and his brother Seth Thomas in separate rooms, each with a woman, documents showed.

At one point, Nina had the loaded gun less than a foot away from her husband’s head, according to the affidavit.

Earl Thomas managed to wrestle the gun away from Nina and police were called.

Officers arrived around 3:41 a.m. and found Nina Thomas chasing Earl with a knife.

According to the document, Nina Thomas told police her intent was just to “scare” her husband, but she did not realize there was a round in the chamber even though she had taken the magazine out of the gun.

Nina Thomas was charged with first-degree felony burglary of a residence with intent to commit aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the affidavit.

The other two women with Nina Thomas were arrested for burglary of a residence.

Earl Thomas was not arrested for the incident. The 7-time Pro Bowl player posted a since-deleted video on Instagram Wednesday saying he was notified the story was about to come out and he wanted to get ahead of the report.

The story was initially published by TMZ.

“It’s not really anybody’s business. It pisses me off that it got out, but it’s the world we live in today. But instead of talking about us, just keep us in your prayers. Stuff like this happens,” Thomas said in the deleted video. “We try to live the best lives we possibly can, but sometimes that doesn’t go as planned. Just pray for us as we go though this.”

Thomas added he is speaking with Nina and seeing his children.

Thomas played at Texas from 2007 to 2009 and was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks.

Baltimore, his current team, has not announced whether any disciplinary action would be taken against Thomas.

NFL star and former University of Texas standout Earl Thomas is listed as the victim in a domestic violence incident last month in Austin where his wife was arrested after she told police she pointed a loaded weapon at her husband’s head when she found him in bed with another woman.

The incident, first reported by TMZ, happened in the early morning of April 13 at a rental home in East Austin in the 600 block of Brushy Street. Police say they responded to that location and found Thomas’ wife, Nina, chasing her husband in the parking lot with a knife, an arrest affidavit stated. Thomas, according to police, was carrying a pistol that they later determined he had taken away from Nina after she entered the home to confront her husband about cheating. Police ordered the Thomases to the ground and to drop their weapons, and the couple complied, the affidavit states.

Nina Thomas, 30, was arrested and charged with first-degree family violence for burglary of a residence with intent to commit aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Two women who police say accompanied Nina to the residence to confront her husband were charged with burglary of a residence.

Court records show Nina Thomas was released from jail later in the day after posting $25,000 bail. An emergency protective order states she cannot have contact with Earl Thomas or the woman who she found Earl in bed with for 60 days. Nina Thomas in bail paperwork listed her address in Austin as 3900 Pearce Rd, which property records show is a $3.5 million appraised estate in the western part of the city that she and Earl purchased in 2018.

Houston lawyer Jonathan Goins, who is listed as the attorney of record for Nina Thomas, did not return a message Thursday. He previously told TMZ Sports that Nina denies the allegations.

“I am here to declare that my client unequivocally and categorically denies these allegations and we look forward to our day in court where we can clear her good name.”

Nina Thomas is set to appear in Travis County District Court on June 8 for an initial setting in the case.

Earl Thomas, who turned 31 Thursday, was not charged in the incident. He released a video Wednesday night on Twitter addressing the incident.

“Instead of talking about us, just keep us in your prayers,” Thomas said. “Stuff like this happens. We try to live the best lives we possibly can but sometimes it don’t go as planned. Just pray for us as we go through this stuff.”

Thomas, a safety with the Baltimore Ravens, is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and considered one of the top defensive players in the NFL. He won a Super Bowl after the 2014 season with the Seattle Seahawks, which drafted him in the first round out of the University of Texas in 2010.

Thomas told police that he left the home he shares with Nina in the afternoon before the incident after an argument about him drinking too much alcohol. He said he called his brother to pick him up and the two went to the downtown rental home to watch TV with two women — including one who Thomas told police he had been seeing for three or four months while he worked on his relationship with Nina.

Earl Thomas, according to his wife’s affidavit, was awoken in bed with the other woman at around 1 a.m. when Nina entered the room and pointed a black pistol at him. Nina largely corroborated the events, telling police she put the gun to her husband’s head to scare him. Police say Nina told them she removed the magazine thinking the gun could not fire but was unaware that the gun had a round in the chamber. Nina, according to police, admitted to disengaging the gun’s safety.

Nina told police she tracked her husband’s whereabouts to the rental home through his Snapchat account, which showed several videos of Earl with the other woman. Two women who Nina brought to confront her husband were also taken into custody: her sister, Kayla Baham-Heisser, and her friend Camisha Garlow, the ex-spouse of Earl Thomas’ brother, Seth, who was with the football player at the rental home.

Baham-Heisser took footage of the incident with her phone that police reviewed. The video, according to police, shows Earl Thomas at the top of a staircase with Nina placing the gun within a foot of his head with her finger on the trigger. Nina struck Earl in the nose before the video ended, police said. The video also showed Garlow attempting to attack a woman who was in the home with Seth Thomas.

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — The first court appearance for a Nashville Predators player accused of assaulting his girlfriend at a gas station earlier this month has been postponed to next month.

Franklin police arrested team forward Austin Watson on June 16 and charged him with domestic assault on his girlfriend, with whom he has an infant.

Watson, 26, of Nashville, had initially been set to appear in Williamson County General Sessions court Thursday on the misdemeanor charge. Court records show the hearing is now set for July 24.

As of Thursday, Watson, remained free from jail on $4,500 bond.

According to an arrest warrant, on the evening of the reported offense, a Franklin Police Department officer was flagged down by a witness for a possible domestic situation at the Shell Station on Murfreesboro Road.

The officer soon learned Watson and his girlfriend — with whom he had a child in April — got into an argument in a vehicle at a gas station about her drinking and not being able to attend a wedding.

At the scene, the affidavit continues, Watson admitted to pushing his girlfriend and an officer noticed red marks on the woman’s chest.

If convicted of the misdemeanor, Austin faces up to 11 months and 29 days in jail and up to a $2,500 fine, said Williamson County District Attorney Kim Helper.

A first-round pick in 2010, Watson signed a three-year, $3.3 million contract in July 2017. He had a career-high 14 goals and 19 points this past season as well as eight points in 13 playoff games.

Both the Predators organization and the NHL are aware of the arrest.

“We are still gathering facts and it is not appropriate for us to comment further at this time, but this is a matter that we are taking very seriously and will cooperate fully with the investigation by law enforcement,” the Predators released in a statement several days after Watson’s arrest. “The Nashville Predators have and will continue to stand side by side with AMEND in the fight to end violence against women.”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Nashville Predators forward Austin Watson was arrested on a charge of domestic assault involving his girlfriend over the weekend.

Franklin Police Lt. Charles Warner said Wednesday that Watson was arrested Saturday evening. Watson was released from jail on $4,500 bond and is due in court June 28.

According to a Williamson County court affidavit, a Franklin police officer was flagged down by a witness to a possible domestic situation at a gas station. The officer noticed the passenger of a car “trying to back away from being shoved away.” The report said the passenger said “stop” and was trying to cover her face.

Watson told police he and his girlfriend were having an argument and he admitted to pushing her. Officers said they found red marks on the woman’s chest, and she said Watson had caused them.

Police said the witness provided confirmation.

The affidavit says domestic assault is considered a Class A misdemeanor.

The Predators said in a statement they “are still gathering facts and it’s not appropriate for us to comment further at this time.” Team officials noted “this is a matter that we are taking very seriously and we will cooperate fully with the investigation by law enforcement.”

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said in a statement that the league is aware of the situation and “it will be dealt with in due course and prior to next season.” Daly added “our focus currently is on the well-being and safety of Austin’s girlfriend, their child and Austin himself. “

Last year, Watson appeared alongside other Predators players in a video calling for an end to domestic violence.

The 26-year-old Watson is a former first-round draft pick who scored a career-high 14 goals and had five assists in 76 games during the 2017-18 regular season. He had five goals and three assists in 13 playoff games.

Watson has 23 goals and 24 assists in 216 career regular-season games, all with the Predators.

A Nashville Predators forward who was part of a domestic violence public awareness campaign last year has been charged with domestic assault in Middle Tennessee, authorities confirmed Wednesday.

Austin Watson, 26, of Nashville, was arrested at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday in the 1400 block of Murfreesboro Road in Franklin, according to Franklin Police Department Lt. Charles Warner.

According to an arrest affidavit, just after 7 p.m. that day, a Franklin police officer was flagged down by a witness for a possible domestic situation at the Shell Station on Murfreesboro Road.

When the officer responded, he noticed a vehicle at the station whose passenger was trying to “back away from being shoved away,” the affidavit states. “The passenger said ‘stop’ and was trying to cover her face.”

When the officer made contact with the driver, later identified as Watson, he said that he and his girlfriend, who was the passenger, were having an argument about her drinking and not being able to attend a wedding, the officer wrote in the affidavit.

At the scene, the affidavit continues, Watson admitted to pushing his girlfriend and the officer said he noticed red marks on her chest.

Watson was arrested and as of Wednesday he was free on $4,500 bond. He is due in Williamson County General Sessions court the afternoon of June 28 to face the charge.

Williamson County District Attorney Kim Helper said if Austin is convicted of the misdemeanor he faces up to 11 months and 29 days in  jail and up to a $2,500 fine.

Nashville Predators respond to arrest

Records show Watson and his former wife, Karly Marie Stothart, divorced in December 2016.

According to the Predators organization, Watson and his current girlfriend had a baby in April.

“We are aware of the incident involving Austin Watson on Saturday night.  We are still gathering facts and it is not appropriate for us to comment further at this time, but this is a matter that we are taking very seriously and will cooperate fully with the investigation by law enforcement. The Nashville Predators have and will continue to stand side by side with AMEND in the fight to end violence against women.”

A first-round pick in 2010, Watson signed a three-year, $3.3 million contract in July 2017. He had a career-high 14 goals and 19 points this past season as well as eight points in 13 playoff games.

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said the league is also aware of the arrest.

“Austin doesn’t really have Club duties currently,” Daly said. “It will be dealt with in due course and prior to next season.  Our focus currently is on the well being and safety of Austin’s girlfriend, their child and Austin himself. ”

Watson part of domestic violence awareness campaign

In 2017, Watson, former captain Mike Fisher, and defensemen P.K. Subban and Ryan Ellis were part of a public-awareness campaign titled “Unsilence the Violence.”

The effort, part of AMEND — the YWCA’s campaign to end violence against women, was in conjunction with the Nashville Predators Foundation’s $500,000 pledge.

According to AMEND, one in four women will be a victim of domestic violence in her lifetime.

The troubles for former Michigan State defensive lineman Auston Robertson continue.

Robertson, who was dismissed from the MSU program last April after he was charged with sexual assault, was arrested Tuesday in Garden City, Kansas, where he attends community college and plays football. According to the Lansing State Journal, Robertson, 20, is potentially facing four charges: “aggravated robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, distribution of marijuana, and interfering with law enforcement officers.”

Conditions of Robertson’s bond stemming from the April 2017 sexual assault charge in Michigan allowed Robertson to attend Garden City Community College. That changed after Robertson’s arrest Tuesday in Kansas, where formal charges are expected.

From the Lansing State Journal:

Judge Clinton Canady III last summer agreed to modify Robertson’s bond so he could move from Ohio to attend school and play football in Kansas. He was required to wear a GPS tether as part of Canady’s conditions. On Thursday, Canady revoked Robertson’s bond in the local case.

Robertson is currently being held on a $300,000 bond in Kansas and is expected to be formally charged there next week, Matusko said. Robertson’s trial had been scheduled to begin in May. It’s unclear whether his Kansas case will affect the start date.

In Michigan, Robertson is awaiting trial on a felony charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, which relates to alleged non-consensual sexual penetration with force or coercion. Robertson was suspended from the MSU team when the investigation into his alleged conduct began. When the charge was filed, he was dismissed from the program.

Robertson was one of the top prospects in MSU’s 2016 recruiting class, but he nearly never made it to campus. He initially did not sign on national signing day because he was charged with misdemeanor battery for allegedly inappropriately touching a female classmate. From there, he entered a diversionary program and the charge was cleared from his record. Michigan State then accepted his national letter of intent on March 30, several weeks after signing day.

“Our decision to accept Auston Robertson’s signed National Letter of Intent and Big Ten Tender has been evaluated over the last three months while utilizing all resources available to us to thoroughly review his situation,” Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said in a school statement when the lineman signed.

“Our relationship with Auston began last summer when he committed to Michigan State. When we accepted his verbal (commitment), we also made a commitment to him and his family. We elected not to sign him in early February, and since then he has been accepted into a pretrial diversionary program and must continue to satisfy those requirements. Given all the information available to us, we believe Auston should be provided with an opportunity to begin his education and playing career at Michigan State.”

Robertson appeared in seven games as a true freshman, but never saw the field again. He played in 12 games last year at Garden City Community College, a top junior college program that often sends players back to the FBS level. He totaled 73 tackles and seven sacks.
