Baton Rouge police have made a third arrest in the 2013 homicide of Timothy Pena.

Brannon Cook, 31 of Baton Rouge, was taken into custody Friday and booked on one count of first-degree murder.

Ex-NFL player Devin Holland, 31 of Baton Rouge, was arrested Wednesday in connection to the case. He was also booked on one count of first-degree murder.

Earlier this month, Antoine Robinson, 31, was arrested on principal to first-degree murder.

At 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 17, 2013, Baton Rouge Police responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Sycamore Street, where they found Pena suffering from gunshot injuries.

Pena later died at the hospital.

Police say further investigation revealed Pena was inside his truck when he was shot in the back of the head. DNA evidence linked Holland and Cook to the truck, booking records show.

Investigators also found a cell phone in Pena’s possession when he died and a collection of text messages that described a meetup for a suspected narcotics transaction, according to booking documents.

Robinson’s phone matched the number of the person Pena had been texting, leading investigators to determine Robinson had lured Pena to where he was killed, documents say. Pena arrived under the impression he would buy $1,800 worth of narcotics.

Holland played football for McNeese and Tulane University prior to signing as an undrafted free agent for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2011. He later signed a contract with the Washington Redskins but was released in 2013, according to NFL records.

Baton Rouge soccer coach accused of sexually assaulting teen player in Connecticut: report

A Baton Rouge youth soccer coach was arrested and charged Tuesday (June 26) with sexually assaulting one of his players multiple times beginning when she was 14 years old, police in Bridgeport, Connecticut, told The Connecticut Post.

Adam Allerton, 42, was arrested as a fugitive in Baton Rouge before surrendering himself in Bridgeport after an 18-year-old told police there Allerton assaulted her while she was on a soccer team he coached at a private school in Waterbury, Connecticut between 2008 and 2013, according to The Advocate.

Allerton moved to Baton Rouge in 2014, soon after which he landed a job as the youth academy director for the Baton Rouge Soccer Club.

The teen provided investigators with text messages in which she confronted Allerton about the assaults, and she cooperated with police when she was asked be recorded in a phone call to Allerton, The Connecticut Post reported.

“We just got wrapped up in this together,” Allerton is reported to have told the teen.

The FBI is involved in the investigation, The Advocate reported, because the teen said the assaults happened across multiple state lines when the soccer team traveled.

Allerton has been charged with multiple counts of second- and fourth-degree sexual assault, according to The Connecticut Post.

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A coach with the Baton Rouge Soccer Club has been arrested for reportedly sexually assaulting one of his former players.

According to a news source in Connecticut, Adam Allerton, 42, is charged with multiple counts of sexual assault. Booking records for the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail confirm his arrest. We have requested the detailed arrest report. The CT Post reports he was released from jail after posting a $100,000 bond.

Police say an 18-year-old recently came forward, saying Allerton sexually assaulted her while she was a member of his team at a school in Waterbury, Connecticut. Allerton reportedly coached there from 2008 to 2013. The victim claims the assaults began when she was 14 and happened at Allerton’s home.

Allerton also reportedly assaulted the teen in his car on the way back to school from a practice.

Police say the victim showed police text messages between her and Allerton, where Allerton claimed the two were in love and “just got wrapped up in this together.”
