Bills defensive lineman Ed Oliver is the latest NFL player to find himself in trouble with the law this offseason, as he was arrested Saturday night in his hometown of Houston and charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Oliver is currently being held at Montgomery County Jail after being pulled over on State Highway 242.

According to the police report, Oliver, 22, was driving with “an open beer between his legs,” and “appeared nervous.” A Montgomery County deputy administered a sobriety test, which Oliver failed, though the deputy said he thought Oliver might have been impaired by something other than alcohol. A search of his vehicle revealed a pistol but no drugs.

After failing the test, Oliver was transported to Kingswood Hospital for a mandatory blood draw and then taken to Montgomery County Jail, where charges of driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon were filed.

Police received a 911 call about Oliver’s erratic driving just before 9 p.m. Saturday from another motorist, who reported that a white Ford Superduty Pickup pulling a trailer with a “dune buggy” on it was headed westbound in the construction area of State Highway 242 and was “failing to maintain a lane and was driving dangerously in the 45 mph construction zone.”

“We are aware of the situation and we are gathering more information,” said the Bills via statement. “We will have no further comment at this point.”

Oliver was the ninth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and had a productive rookie season for the Bills last year with 43 tackles and five sacks.

HOUSTON (AP) — Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Ed Oliver was arrested Saturday by police in the Houston area and charged with drunk driving and illegally carrying a gun.

Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies pulled Oliver over after receiving reports around 9 p.m. of someone driving recklessly in a construction area north of the city, local media outlets reported, citing jail and police records and statements from sheriff’s officials.

The deputies found an open beer and a pistol in Oliver’s truck, according to sheriff’s officials.

Video published by the Montgomery County Police Reporter appears to show officers examining Oliver’s eyes and having him walk in a line on the roadside before putting him in handcuffs.

Oliver is from Houston, where he also played his college career. He was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the 2019 draft. Montgomery County records did not list Oliver as being in the jail Sunday morning.

The team said in a statement that “we are aware of the situation and we are gathering more information.”

Oliver’s agent did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

HOUSTON (AP) — Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Ed Oliver was arrested during a traffic stop in the Houston area and charged with drunken driving and illegally carrying a handgun, authorities said.

Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies pulled Oliver over Saturday after receiving reports around 9 p.m. of someone driving recklessly in a construction area north of the city while towing an ATV on a trailer, Lt. Jim Slack of the Montgomery County constables office said in a statement.

Oliver failed a sobriety test and the deputies found a small caliber pistol in his truck, Slack said. Texas law prohibits having a handgun while committing a crime, and Slack said Oliver faces a misdemeanor charge for having the weapon.

Montgomery County records did not list Oliver as being in the jail Sunday morning; the Houston Chronicle reported that he was released after posting bond.

The team said in a statement that “we are aware of the situation and we are gathering more information.”

Oliver’s agent did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (AP) — A former Buffalo Bills player is accused of pulling a gun on teens who were pranking homes in his Tennessee neighborhood.

News outlets report 43-year-old Jimmy Robinson Jr. was arrested last week and charged with aggravated assault. Mt. Juliet police Lt. Tyler Chandler says authorities responding to a report of an armed man Thursday night determined that the former linebacker had hunted down teens who were ringing doorbells and running away.

Police say Robinson drove around searching for the car carrying the five teens and then ordered two of them out of their vehicle at gunpoint. It’s unclear who called authorities and how the confrontation ended.

Robinson is an EMT with the Nashville Fire Department, which is conducting an internal investigation. He posted bail Friday and was released from custody. It’s unclear whether he has a lawyer to comment on his behalf.

Robinson attended Western Illinois University and spent one season with the Bills.
