It has been nearly two years since the home of former Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins was the scene of an alleged killing and his brother was charged.

Now, it’s happened again to a local NFL star.

On Monday, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Haseez Brown, 33, the brother of former Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and weapons charges.

Brown is the older brother of Wilkerson, Linden Mayor Derek Armstead said Monday.

Prosecutors said Brown fired multiple shots into a vehicle outside his brother’s Bridgewater residence and struck the driver, Roobino Philemon, of West Orange.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Philemon attempted to go to a birthday party at the residence, but was told to leave. As Philemon was sitting in the car, authorities said Brown walked up toward the rear of the vehicle and allegedly fired multiple rounds into the vehicle, striking Philemon once.

This incident comes nearly two years since Jenkins’ brother was involved with a fatal incident at the home the former Giants cornerback’s rented Bergen County.

On June 26, 2018, William H. Jenkins, his brother, was charged with aggravated manslaughter when Roosevelt Rene, a music producer nicknamed “Trypps Beatz”, was found dead at Jenkins’ home.

Police officers found Rene’s body, after receiving a report of “suspicious conditions” at Jenkins’ home.

Rene and Jenkins’ brother had been living in the home while Janoris Jenkins was in Florida.

The homeowners eventually sued Janoris Jenkins for $700,000, claiming the crime devalued their property and that Jenkins and his brother did roughly $300,000 in physical damage to the residence.

Janoris Jenkins had a two-year lease for $66,000 a year or $5,500 a month that expired May 31, 2018, according to court documents cited by NorthJersey.com. He wanted to extend the lease at the time of the alleged killing, the documents said.

Jenkins spent the following two seasons with the Giants before he was released in December. He signed with the New Orleans Saints.

Wilkerson has been out of the NFL since 2018, when he played one season for the Green Bay Packers. He spent seven years before that with the Jets and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2015, when he accumulated a career-best 12 sacks.

During his 13 season playing career, Michael Vick established himself as one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL, earning four Pro Bowl selections. Yet Vick will forever be remembered for his involvement in an illegal dogfighting scandal. In 2007, Vick plead guilty to charges and spent a total of 21 months locked up in federal prison.

Michael Vick isn’t the only member of his family to have an NFL career — or into legal trouble. His younger brother Marcus had a brief tenure with the Miami Dolphins. He’s also run into trouble with the law on several occasions. Here we recap Marcus Vick’s stalled football career and his various struggles staying on the right side of the law.

Marcus Vick’s college football career

RELATED: Michael Vick’s Best Season in the NFL Wasn’t With the Falcons

Marcus Vick established himself as a talented quarterback prospect while attending high school in Newport News, Virginia. He was good enough to earn himself an athletic scholarship to Virginia Tech — the same school that his older brother Michael had played quarterback for. Vick was redshirted during his freshman year in 2002, and showed flashes of promise during the following season.

By most accounts, Vick was primed for a breakout season in 2004. Instead, he was suspended for the entire year due to a variety of criminal convictions brought against him. The main case involved Vicks’ consensual sexual involvement of an underaged girl. Although he was ultimately cleared of sex charges, Vick received three guilty verdicts for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Later that year, Vick was also charged with possession of marijuana and reckless driving. He was reinstated the following year, and his strong play quickly moved him up from third-string to starting quarterback. Yet further legal troubles and on-field incidents finally led Virginia Tech to dismiss Vick from the football program in January 2006.

Marcus Vick’s brief NFL career

The day after his dismissal from Virginia Tech, Vick declared himself eligible for the 2006 NFL Draft. Although many analysts speculated that he could get picked as early as the third round, Vick ended up going undrafted. His various legal issues — and his questionable character and work ethic — likely played a large role, since he remained an intriguing talent.

Following the draft, Vick went to a Dolphins free agent minicamp, and was ultimately signed by the team to a league minimum free-agent contract. He spent one year with the team, only seeing game action on a single occasion. In that game, Vick came in as a wide receiver in the 4th quarter, but did not receive any passes. At the end of the season, the Dolphins chose not to resign him.

Continuing legal troubles

RELATED: Was the NFL Too Quick to Forgive Michael Vick?

Marcus Vick continued to find himself getting into legal and criminal trouble following his brief stint in the NFL. On one occasion, a drunken Vick was arrested on charges of DUI, fleeing the police, and reckless driving.

Although he received a 12-month jail sentence, a judge reduced it to a fine and a suspension of his license. Various parole violations and related fines followed.

In 2016, Vick was arrested on charges that included felony assault on a police officer, according to The Roanoke Times. At the time, the officer was attempting to serve Vick an arrest warrant for evading a 2013 civil court hearing.

Later in 2016, Vick was arrested again — this time on charges of drug possession, according to Bleacher Report. Vick once again was able to negotiate a plea deal that spared him any jail time.

Another drug arrest — and suspended sentence — followed in March 2017. Since then, Vick has managed to stay out of legal trouble. In July 2020, his period of supervised probation is set to end. Hopefully, Vick can celebrate that milestone by setting himself on a less troubled path through life.

Former Tulane basketball star Teshaun Hightower was arrested over the weekend in connection with a fatal shooting in Stockbridge, Georgia, on April 8. Hightower was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

He has denied the charges and his attorney, Averick Walker, said that it was Hightower’s brother, Jeffery, who fired the gun in self-defense.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the incident began after another suspect, Tyreek Farmer, got into a fist-fight with the victim, 24-year-old Devontae Long, at an apartment complex in Stockbridge. During the altercation, Farmer said he was pistol-whipped by Long and left to get back up.

He returned with the Hightower brothers and three other men to confront Long. They approached Long in a breezeway, and his girlfriend told police the Teshaun pulled out a gun and shot Long, who was rushed to the hospital where he died.

Walker disputed that version of events and said that Long came out of his apartment armed with a gun and that Jeffery opened fire to protect his brother.

“He’s innocent. He didn’t shoot anybody. It’s sad that this detective sought to make him out to be a monster, and he’s not. When it’s all said and done, it will come out in the wash that the person who did fire the gunshot the gun to protect Teshaun,” Walker told ESPN. “Teshaun’s brother actually fired the weapon and fired in self-defense. The victim came out of the house with a gun in his hand and turned his weapon toward Teshaun to shoot him. That’s why the victim was shot himself.”

Authorities have five of the suspects in custody. Hightower, his brother Jeffrey, Farmer, Tobias Gresham, and Antonie Gresham are all facing murder, aggravated assault, and weapons charges. Police said that another suspect, Kelvonie Burney, is still at large.

The brother of former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antwaan Randle El was arrested and charged in the double-murder of two women in Wisconsin.

Marcus Randle El, of Homewood, Illinois, surrendered to Chicago police on Saturday. He faces charges of two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.

Marcus Randle El.Janesville Police Dept.

His arrest came days after Seairaha Winchester, 31, and Brittany Mcadory, 28, were found with gunshot wounds on a road in Wisconsin on Feb. 10. The two women died at a hospital from their injuries.

Video surveillance showed Winchester, of Janesville, Wisconsin, and Mcadory, of Joliet, Illinois, enter a gas station in Wisconsin around 2 a.m. on the day of the murders, the Janesville Police Department said at a news conference Saturday.

They leave the store and get into Mcadory’s Jeep Cherokee. Around 3:15 a.m., a driver found both women wounded lying on a road close to the gas station, according to police.

Janesville Lt. Charles Aagaard said evidence indicates that Randle El was in the area of the gas station and had plans to meet up with the victims later in the morning. Investigators said after the killings, Randle El took Mcadory’s vehicle. It was later found on an interstate in Justice, Illinois.

Aagaard said Randle El did not confess to the murders and a possible motive is still being investigated. He could face additional charges, Aagaard said.

Police said the women were friends and both had children.

“Our prayers and thoughts go out to the Winchester and Mcadory families. Our hope is that this apprehension will offer some comfort for the families and can be the start to the long road for healing,” police said.

Randle El played football with the University of Wisconsin from 2004 to 2007, according to NBC affiliate WMTV in Madison, Wisconsin.

During his freshman year at the school, he was arrested and charged with battery following an argument with a woman, the outlet reported. Not long after that incident, he was arrested again for battery after allegedly punching a teammate.

At the time of the Feb. 10 murders, he was out on parole stemming from a 2014 incident in which he allegedly abducted his daughter at gunpoint in Illinois. He was convicted and sentenced to six years in 2016, WMTV reports.

Randle El’s brother played wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins until his retirement in 2012. He is currently on the coaching staff for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Police swarmed a house in Cheatham County on Christmas and arrested the man accused of fatally stabbing two victims, including a brother of San Francisco 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard, outside of a Nashville bar days earlier.

Michael Mosley, 23, was found “hiding out” in an otherwise vacant Ashland City house on Petway Road, according to the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. Police from multiple agencies surrounded the house and took Mosley into custody.

Criminal-homicide warrants had been issued for Mosley in connection with the fatal stabbings of Clayton Beathard, 22, and Paul Trapeni III, 21, shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday across from The Dogwood Bar at 1907 Division St. in Nashville. A third victim, whom police didn’t identify, is recovering from stab wounds to his arm and eye.

Mosley, who has a long rap sheet, was implicated by surveillance video, according to a Metro Nashville police news release. The release said the altercation began inside the bar when Mosley made unwanted advances toward a woman. That sparked a verbal dispute that turned physical when the parties left the bar.

Mosley had “many Cheatham ties,” according to the Cheatham sheriff’s Facebook page.

Clayton Beathard’s brother C.J. Beathard is a 49ers’ backup quarterback, a Franklin native and third-year pro out of Iowa, according to the team’s official website. The site’s biography of the NFL player refers to Clayton as Clay and says he also played quarterback, earning Tennesee’s “Mr. Football” honors for his division in 2014.

The victim’s grandfather is Bobby Beathard, a longtime general manager of the Washington Redskins and later the GM for the Los Angeles Chargers when the team was in San Diego. The victim’s father is accomplished country music songwriter Casey Beathard, who has penned hits for Billy Ray Cyrus and Kenny Chesney, the 49ers website says.

Clay was the youngest of three brothers. The middle brother, Tucker, was a standout baseball player who turned down a scholarship to Middle Tennessee State University and is now a country singer-songwriter, the 49ers site says. Growing up, the brothers formed a band that played at talent shows.

The Metro police news release said Mosley, who is currently in the Davidson County jail, has an extensive criminal history.

At the time of these homicides, Mosley was free on $5,000 bond for attacking a 37-year-old woman at the Wal-Mart store on Charlotte Pike in December 2018. The assault apparently resulted from an ongoing dispute.

Mosley was convicted of misdemeanor assault in March 2016 for squirting urine from a shampoo bottle on an employee at a Davidson County jail facility on Christmas Day 2015. He received a 6-month sentence.

Mosley was arrested on multiple counts of aggravated robbery on June 1, 2015, for the armed robberies, at gunpoint, of three persons on Edmondson Pike. He was convicted in February 2018 on two counts of robbery and received two concurrent six-year sentences.

Mosley was arrested on two counts of felony aggravated assault in May 2015 for stabbing a man and cutting a woman on Colt Drive. He was convicted of both counts in December 2017 and received concurrent three-and-a-half-year sentences.

Mosley was convicted of car theft and auto burglary in July 2015. He received a three-year sentence for auto theft and a one-year sentence for auto burglary.

Mosley was arrested for attempted aggravated burglary in 2014. He pleaded guilty to burglary the following year and received a one-year sentence.

Police have charged a suspect in the fatal stabbing of Clay Beathard, the starting quarterback on the Long Island University football team, brother of an NFL player and grandson of a former NFL general manager.

Beathard, 22, and 21-year-old Paul Trapeni III were stabbed Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2:50 a.m. in Nashville, Tennessee during a fight involving several persons outside the Dogwood Bar & Grill at 1907 Division Street, in midtown, according to Metro Nashville Police.

The stabbings appear to have resulted from an argument over a woman that began inside the bar and then turned physical when the parties went outside, police said. The dispute began over an unwanted advancement made by a man toward the woman in the bar, police added.

Multiple persons were involved in the outdoor fight during which the two men were both fatally stabbed in their sides.

Beathard, of Thompson Station, Tennessee, and Trapeni, of Franklin, Tennessee, were both transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where they died.

A third stabbing victim, Alvin Jefferson (A.J.) Bethurum, 21, suffered injuries to his eye and arm and is continuing to recover, said police.

Police now say 23-year-old Michael Mosley has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide and one count of attempted criminal homicide.

Mosley has a long rap sheet that includes multiple aggravated burglary, attempted aggravated burglary and drug-related arrests and convictions dating back five years.

Mosley has been identified as being present both inside and outside of the Dogwood Bar, including when the fight occurred, police said.

Beathard, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound junior, appeared in seven games before missing the remainder of the season due to injury this season.

He completed 52-percent of his pass attempts (94-for-182), throwing for 1,071 yards and four touchdowns.

Beathard was the son of country music songwriter Casey Beathard and Susan Beathard.

Clay Beathard’s brother, C.J., is a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers picked up an emotional 34-31 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night after C.J. had returned home to Tennessee prior to the game to be with his family.

”The 49ers family was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the tragedy involving C.J. Beathard’s younger brother, Clayton,” the 49ers said in a statement. “We extend our heartfelt sympathies to C.J. and the entire Beathard family as they cope with the unthinkable loss of a loved one.

Another brother, Tucker Beathard, is a country music singer/songwriter.

Grandfather, Bobby Beathard, is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame after winning four Super Bowls as an NFL general manager with four different teams: the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins and San Diego Chargers.

“Clay was an amazing, big and soft-hearted human being with an undeniable love for the Lord,” the Beathard family said in a statement. “He had his family’s, friends’ and teammates’ backs even to a fault. I wish he would have been more inclined to take the high road but he hated ‘wrong.’

“That is what we will hold in our hearts because we know he is smiling now. He always worried about all of our welfare, never his own.”

Clay Beathard is also survived by sisters Channing and Tatum.

LIU football coach Bryan Collins said Clay Beathard had a “love of life, people, especially his teammates” and was a “shining light in our program.”

“All of my thoughts and prayers are with the Beathard Family,” Collins added. “Clay, you will be remembered always.”
