Burlington man faces additional sex offense charges after second victim comes forward

REPORTING NEARLY 6500 POSITIVE CASES OF CORONAVIRUS. THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES IS NOT REPORTING THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE RECOVERED. WE KNOW OF 212 PEOPLE IN ALAMANCE DAVIDSON FORSYTH AND ROCKINGHAM COUNTIES WHO HAVE RECOVERED. THAT’S ROUGHLY A THIRD OF THE TOTAL NUMBER OF CASES THAT WE KNOW OF IN THE TRIAD. HERE’S A LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF CASES OVER TIME. THE ORANGE LINE SHOWS THE MORE THAN 6100 CASES IN THE STATE SINCE THE FIRST CASE WAS REPORTED BACK ON MARCH THIRD. THE BLUE LINE SHOWS THE NUMBER OF CASES HERE IN THE TRIAD. SADLY 29 PEOPLE IN THE TRIAD HAVE DIED OF THE 172 REPORTED BY THE STAT STATE SENATORS ARE CALLING ON THE GOVERNOR TO OPEN CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY WITHOUT FANS. FIVE REPUBLICAN LAWMAKERS WANT TO HOLD THE ALL-STAR RACE AND THE COCA-COLA 600 WITHOUT FANS THIS MAY. NASCAR HAS ALREADY POSTPONED EIGHT RACES DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND STATED ON FRIDAY IT COULD RUN RACES IN MAY WITHOUT FANS. Burlington man faces additional sex offense charges after second victim comes forward

A Burlington man faces additional sex offense charges Sunday after a second victim came forward.Dwayne Leon Townsend turned himself in after being identified in an Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit Case. Townsend was first charged with one count of indecent liberties with a child and disseminating obscene material to a minor. He was being held on $20,000 bail.As the investigation continued, the Special Victims Unit identified a second victim who came forward. Townsend was arrested on additional charges on April 17. He is charged with one count of a statutory sex offense by an adult and two counts of indecent liberties with a child.Townsend is being held on $75,000 bail. His first court appearance, if applicable, is set for April 20.
