Gauteng traffic police arrested a “prominent soccer player” on Sunday for allegedly driving at 213km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N1 in Johannesburg.

Traffic police spokesperson Obed Sibasa said the 32-year-old man was caught on the highway in the Sandton area. He was a driving an Audi A6 Tdi.

“He was charged with reckless and negligent driving. The alternative charge is driving at excessive speed for the prescribed legal speed limit. He was detained at the Sandton police station,” Sibasa said.

He will appear at the Randburg magistrate’s court on Monday.

Sibasa said the soccer player had explained that he was rushing home to fetch a friend.

“What a lousy excuse,” said Sibasa.

“We have since Friday, arrested more than 11 speedsters. Driver attitude and behaviour remains a challenge. Motorists take advantage of Covid-19 lockdown or restrictions on movement of people.”

He said traffic officers were all over monitoring motorists.

Just three years ago, Darren McFadden was running the football for the Dallas Cowboys. Now, he’s trying to run from the cops. In a bizarre, recently unearthed arrest video, McFadden is shown resisting arrest and driving his car into a Whataburger wall while drunk. The officers pulled the former running back out of his car and even had to use a Taser on him.

Darren McFadden was arrested for DUI and resisting arrest in 2019

In January of 2019, McFadden was arrested at a Texas Whataburger. The former Cowboy and Raider was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat of his 2019 GMC Yukon late at night, and officers were forced to break in the windows to wake McFadden.

The 31-year-old at the time accidentally pressed on the gas and veered his car into a wall in the drive-thru of the Whataburger. Police were finally able to wake McFadden and get him out of the car safely before anyone was hurt.

In July of 2019, Mcfadden was charged with resisting arrest and DUI with a BAC of greater than or equal to .15. Emphasis on the greater than. McFadden didn’t even realize he was flooring a vehicle into the side of a restaurant until cops busted in his windows. Even then, he could barely speak as the officers ordered him out of the car.

McFadden pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four days in jail in February of 2020.

Crazy arrest video shows the police standoff with Darren McFadden

McFadden’s arrest occurred over a year ago in McKinney, Texas, but the police body camera footage was just released by TMZ Sports Monday. If the description of the arrest wasn’t crazy enough, the video surely is.

The video starts with officers approaching McFadden’s car and tapping on his window. He’s seen asleep at the wheel in the middle of a Whataburger drive-thru, and he isn’t responding to the officers on the scene.

The officers notice that the car is still in drive, so they attempt to shake the car to wake McFadden. After a few minutes, McFadden accidentally presses the gas and floors the car into the wall of the restaurant. You can hear the tires screeching in the video as the car can’t move any farther.

The cop closest to McFadden breaks in one of the car windows and finally wakes the former NFL star. He eventually stumbles out of the car and falls to the ground as officers handcuff him. The incident could’ve been much worse if the wall didn’t stop the car from moving or if McFadden continued to resist arrest at gunpoint.

McFadden earned $50 million in the NFL but now has a criminal record

Many NFL players do great things in retirement, but some choose a different path. As successful as McFadden was in the NFL, many fans will now remember him for this scary video.

McFadden played 10 years in the NFL. He recorded two 1,000-yard rushing seasons — one with the Raiders and one with the Cowboys. Over his professional career, McFadden earned $49.3 million in salary alone.

However, no amount of athletic success can shield you from the law. McFadden will forever be a convicted criminal, just as much as he will forever be a 1,000-yard rusher in the NFL.

BAY HEAD – A Toms River woman was charged with violating the governor’s emergency orders for driving around playing Pokemon Go, police said.

Renee F. Perrine, 49, of Toms River, was charged on April 18 by Bay Head Police Officers with violating the emergency orders and operating an unregistered vehicle, according to a release by the State Attorney General’s Office.

The reason for the police stop was that she was driving an unregistered vehicle, police said. She told officers she was driving around playing Pokemon Go.

In related news, Seaside Park police issued summonses recently for public nuisance, a violation of a borough ordinance, to the following seven people for violating closure orders for beaches or parks related to COVID-19: Thomas M. Lanza, 27 of Toms River, and Dylan M. Connell, 26, of Palm Bay, Fla., on April 8; Jeffrey N. Burroughs, 53, of Los Angeles, on April 14; Zoe H. Bloodgood, 18, of Berkeley, on April 19; and Stefanie S. Gomes, 26, Robert P. Hickey Jr., 31, and Joao J. Pinho, 30, all of Kearny, on April 19.

“One month after Governor Murphy issued his emergency orders, we are flattening the curve and saving lives, because the vast majority of our residents are conscientiously obeying the social distancing rules and doing their share to fight COVID-19,” said Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal. “Unfortunately, there are still those who violate the orders, risking the further spread of this deadly virus. What is worse, there are some who deliberately threaten our brave police officers, medical personnel, and other essential workers, impeding their vital work. Our message to violators is that we will hold you accountable, whether it is through a summons for those who violate the social distancing orders, or an arrest on indictable charges for those who deliberately harm or threaten others during this emergency.”

These charges are merely accusations until proven guilty in a court of law.

Baltimore Ravens safety Earl Thomas took to IG to announce that he’ll join TMZ to discuss an altercation that occurred between himself and his wife, Nina.

Shortly after Thomas posted the message, TMZ published a report that detailed the situation. According to police reports, Earl left their home after getting into an argument with Nina and was picked up but his brother, Seth. Later in the day, Nina checked into Earl’s Snapchat and saw that he was with another woman. She was also able to find out his location, an Airbnb rental in Austin, Texas. Once she pinpointed where Earl was at, she took his 9mm Berreta and called up two women to accompany her to confront her husband. Nina said she brought the gun to “scare him.”

When they arrived at the Airbnb, they “discovered Earl and Seth naked in bed with other women.”

Nina admits that she then pointed the gun at her husband’s head, thinking “she took out the magazine thinking that the gun could not fire.” Police later found out that there was a bullet in the chamber. Footage that was shot by one of the women that accompanied Nina was reviewed by cops, who said that the gun was “less than a foot away” from Earl’s head. They added, “it can clearly be seen that Nina’s finger was on the trigger and the safety is disengaged.”

Police say that Earl was able to get the gun away from Nina, who was later arrested. She was charged with burglary of a residence with intent to commit aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but was freed on bond, TMZ reports. The two other women were also arrested. The Ravens player told cops that his wife struck him multiple times as he attempted to get the gun away from her. A woman that was at the house with Earl and his brother Seth alleged that Nina threatened her and the others with the gun and told them that she had “something for all you hoes.”

Thomas didn’t provide his side of the story but will presumably get into it all during his interview with the publication. “Obviously this is not how I wanted my birthday breakfast to start out or my birthday but it is what it is,” Thomas, who’s turning 32 on Thursday, May 7, wrote of the April 13 incident.

“I just wanted to get ahead of it,” Thomas said in a video that accompanied the post. “I mean, it’s really not anybody’s business. It pisses me off that it got out, but it’s the world we live in today. But instead of talking about us, just keep us in y’all prayers. Stuff like this happens, bro. We try to live the best life we possibly can but sometimes it don’t go as planned. Just pray for us as we go through this stuff. We’ve been talking. I’m seeing my kids, so just keep us in your prayers.”

A man has been caught following a days-long manhunt, wanted in the fatal stabbings of two college students, including the brother of San Francisco 49ers’ backup quarterback C.J. Beathard, authorities said.

Michael Mosley, 23, the prime suspect in the frenzied attack in Nashville, was captured Wednesday afternoon in Ashland City, Tennessee, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Mosley was alone at a vacant home when law enforcement moved in and surrounded the house, said Nashville police. He then surrendered, police said.

Mosley’s name was put at the top of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s “Most Wanted” list Tuesday morning and a $2,500 reward was offered for information leading to his arrest.

The crime took place early Saturday outside The Dogwood bar in Nashville’s Midtown neighborhood, and left Clayton Beathard, 22, and Paul Trapeni III, 21, dead and their 21-year-old friend with stab wounds to the eye and arm, police said at a news conference Tuesday night.

Mosley “has a violent criminal past. He is a convicted felon, convicted of violent crimes,” Don Aaron, spokesman for the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department, said during the manhunt.

Aaron said arrest warrants were issued late Monday for Mosley charging him with two counts of criminal homicide and one count of attempted criminal homicide.

“We fully believe that he is the person who inflicted the stab wounds,” Aaron said.

Police said that at the time of the killings, Mosley was free on a $5,000 bond after being arrested for aggravated assault in a brutal December 2018 beat down of a 37-year-old woman at a Nashville Walmart.

Mosley had previously been convicted in a 2016 misdemeanor assault for squirting urine from a shampoo bottle on an employee at a Davidson County, Tennessee, jail on Christmas Day 2015, police said in a statement.

In February 2018, he was convicted on multiple counts of armed robbery and was sentenced to two concurrent six-year prison terms, police said.

Mosley was also convicted of two counts of felony aggravated assault in May 2015 for stabbing a man and cutting a woman and was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison in December 2017, police said. Mosley expired his sentence from prison on Dec. 5, 2019 and was released on a detainer to Davidson County, according to the Tennessee Department of Corrections.

During a brawl in March 2019 involving more than 50 inmates at the Cheatham, Tennesee, County Jail, Mosley was caught on surveillance video allegedly stomping on an inmate’s head, the Chetham County Sheriff’s Office told ABC affiliate station WKRN-TV in Nashville.

Asked how such a felon with so many convictions for violent crimes could be allowed out on the streets, Aaron said, “The police department doesn’t impose punishment, the police department is not in charge of incarceration, the police department is not in charge of sentencing.”

“Looking at this man’s past, the police department understands the community’s frustration and we sympathize with the community’s frustration,” Aaron said.

Aaron said the deadly incident began inside The Dogwood bar when Mosley allegedly made unwanted advances toward a woman who was with Beathard and Trapeni.

“His actions led to a verbal dispute initially inside the bar, which led then to a physical fight outside the bar. The fight traveled across the street from the bar,” Aaron said. “During the fight, the investigation shows that Mosley was armed with a sharp object and during that fight, the two victims were fatally stabbed. Their friend, a 21-year-old, was also injured.”

Mosley was among four people seen together inside the bar who police were initially seeking to question about the slayings. Aaron said police have questioned a man and a woman seen with Mosley in the surveillance video taken from the bar, but they were still looking to identify and interview a third man seen in the security footage wearing a Nike sweatshirt.

Aaron said Mosley’s companions are not considered suspects in the killings.

“For now we are focused on Mosley,” Aaron said.

Clayton Beathard was a junior at New York’s Long Island University, where he was the starting quarterback this past season on the school’s football team. Trapeni was a student at Rhodes College in Memphis.

C.J. Beathard, who is a backup quarterback for the 49ers, immediately took leave from the team to join his family in Nashville.

Clayton Beathard’s parents, Casey and Susan Beathard, said in a statement to ABC News: “Clay was an amazing, big and soft hearted human being with an undeniable love for the Lord.”

“He had his family’s, friends’ and teammates’ backs even to a fault,” they said. “He always worried about all of our welfare, never his own.”

The 49ers’ organization released a statement saying they were “shocked and deeply saddened” by Clayton Beathard’s death.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to C.J. and the entire Beathard family as they cope with the unthinkable loss of a loved one,” the team said.

Officials at the Battle Ground Academy, a college-preparatory school in Franklin, Tennessee, said in a Facebook post that Clayton Beathard, Trapeni and the third victim stabbed in the attack were all former classmates at the school.

“We offer our condolences and deepest sympathy to the Beathard and Trapeni families,” the school’s statement reads. “We also offer our prayers and support to their BGA classmates, teammates, teachers, coaches, and friends. We understand this unexpected and devastating news may be difficult to reconcile”.

The center fielder for Brewer High School’s championship baseball team was caught with cocaine in the school parking lot less than 36 hours after the team clinched the title.

Benjamin Byorak, 18, of Brewer was arrested June 17 and charged with aggravated furnishing of a scheduled drug, a felony, according to documents filed at the Penobscot Judicial Center.

Brewer beat Wells High School 3-2 on the afternoon of June 16 at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor to win its first state crown.

Byorak allegedly purchased the cocaine for $100 from a college student and shared the drug with Logan Rogerson, 20, of Brewer, a 2016 graduate of Brewer High School and a former athlete, shortly before police arrived.

Byorak’s attorney, Kaylee Folster of Bangor, declined Thursday to comment on the case.

Information about who is representing Rogerson was not available Thursday.

The charge is aggravated because Byorak allegedly was found with the drug so near the school.

Rogerson was charged with unlawful possession of a scheduled drug, a misdemeanor.

A Brewer police officer spotted a Subaru in a dark corner of the high school parking lot at about 9:30 p.m. on June 17, according to a court document. The officer approached the car and saw a full bottle of vodka on the rear floorboard and smelled marijuana coming from inside the car.

Byorak was in the driver’s seat and Rogerson was in the passenger seat, the document said.

In a search of the car, police allegedly found a jar of marijuana in a backpack that Byorak said belonged to him. Under the passenger seat, the officer found a dark plaque on the floorboard with white powder measured out in the shape of two lines, the court document said. There also was a rolled up $1 bill on the console in the car.

Byorak allegedly told police that he had sold marijuana to his friends “less than 20 times.”

After being interviewed at the Brewer police station, Rogerson was issued a summons and released.

Byorak was arrested and taken to the Penobscot County Jail. He later was released on $500 cash bail.

Both men are due in court on Aug. 14.

It convicted of aggravated furnishing, Byorak faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.

Rogerson faces up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $2,000, if convicted of the Class D possession charge.

Byorak also played ice hockey for Brewer High and was named to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B All-Academic Team last season.

Danry Vasquez is identified as man in surveillance video beating his girlfriend.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – Surveillance video that recorded a domestic violence incident involving a former Hook’s baseball player has been released.

Danry Vasquez was accused of hitting his girlfriend.

District Attorney Mark Gonzalez says the case against Vasquez has been dismissed and Vazquez complied with conditions set by his plea deal.

The video, received through an open records request, shows the assault which happened at Whataburger Field, back on August 2nd, 2016.

The video shows a man and a woman walking into a stairwell and heading down the stairs, when suddenly, the man, identified as 24-year-old Danry Vasquez, strikes the woman with his left hand and hitting her in the face.  The video continues to show the woman being hit twice, then her hair is pulled and the two walk down the stairs, where she is hit a third time.

Gonzalez says he’s hopeful this situation will have a positive outcome.

“I’m hoping Mr. Vasquez will be the poster boy for our program and never hurt somebody that he’s in a relationship with and only time will tell.”

Vasquez was released by the Houston Astros organization shortly after being arrested and charged. He has signed with another baseball team in Pennsylvania, the Lancaster Barnstormers.  On Wednesday, March 13th, the team announced on Facebook that they have released Vasquez from the team after seeing the video.

Wallabies star and Queensland Reds back Karmichael Hunt has been charged with drug possession, after police allegedly caught him with what is believed to be cocaine.

Hunt’s lawyer Adam Magill said the 31-year-old was arrested in Brisbane along with another man on the side of the road on McLachlan Street in Fortitude Valley in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He has been charged with two counts of drug possession.

Hunt was granted watch-house bail at 4:00am Saturday and is due to appear in Brisbane’s Magistrates Court on January 29.

A 32-year-old man was also charged with one count of possessing an item used in a drug offence — believed to be a mobile phone — and will appear in court at a later date.

In a statement, Rugby Australia confirmed it was aware of the incident involving Hunt.

“It is understood Hunt was arrested and has subsequently been released by Queensland police,” the statement said.

“Rugby Australia takes all matters relating to the off-field behaviour of its players seriously and has commenced an investigation into the incident in conjunction with the Queensland Rugby Union.

“No further comment will be made at this time.”

In March 2015, Hunt was fined $2,500 after pleading guilty to four counts of cocaine possession and also fined $30,000 by rugby officials and suspended for six weeks.

Hunt was among seven Gold Coast Titans players charged over an alleged drugs ring uncovered by Queensland’s Crime and Corruption Commission.

Wallabies star and Queensland Reds back Karmichael Hunt has been charged with drug possession, after police allegedly caught him with a white powder in Brisbane.

Hunt’s lawyer Adam Magill said the 31-year-old was arrested along with another man on the side of the road on McLachlan Street in Fortitude Valley in the early hours of this morning.

He has been charged with two counts of drug possession.

Hunt was granted watch-house bail at 4:00am and is due to appear in Brisbane’s Magistrates Court on January 29.

A 32-year-old man was also charged with one count of possessing an item used in a drug offence — believed to be a mobile phone — and will appear in court at a later date.

In a statement, Rugby Australia confirmed it was aware of the incident involving Hunt in Brisbane overnight.
