Four teenagers have been charged with stealing Australian rugby union star James O’Connor’s car after a police chase which ended at an inner Brisbane shopping centre.

The three boys and a girl, aged 14-15, are facing multiple charges after Wallabies and Queensland Reds player O’Connor’s white Land Rover was allegedly stolen from an Auchenflower home on Monday.

The teens then allegedly used the car to speed through Brisbane’s south on Tuesday when police spotted it in Inala.

It was tracked by police helicopter on the Logan Motorway to Larapinta about 2.30pm.

“The vehicle was tracked as it continued to allegedly be driven dangerously throughout local streets and suburbs, travelling through red lights,” police said in a statement.

They allegedly drove into the car park at Toowong Village in Brisbane’s inner-west, from where they are accused of ditching the vehicle and making a run for the train station.

“A short foot pursuit commenced and the four were taken into custody without incident,” police said.

They have been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary and commit and indictable offence and receiving tainted property.

They are expected to face the Brisbane Children’s Court on a later date.

O’Connor, a veteran of 52 tests, is the second Brisbane-based sports star to have his car stolen allegedly by youths.

AFL forward Charlie Cameron allegedly had his Mercedes taken by a local gang in March.

A former Super Bowl champion defensive lineman accused JPMorgan Chase workers in Arizona of using racially charged remarks against him when he tried to secure and invest his earnings.

Jimmy Kennedy, who won a Super Bowl ring in 2011 as a member of the New York Giants, recorded interactions with one JPMorgan worker who suggested that he was “intimidating” because “they don’t see people like you a lot.” The recording was published in The New York Times on Wednesday.

“You’re bigger than the average person, period. And you’re also an African-American,” Charles Belton, who is also black, told Kennedy in the recording. “We’re in Arizona. I don’t have to tell you about what the demographics are in Arizona. They don’t see people like you a lot.”

Kennedy played in the NFL from 2003 to 2011. The St. Louis Rams took him with the No. 12 pick of the 2003 NFL Draft from Penn State. He was with the Rams from 2003 to 2006. He then played for the Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings and the Giants.

He earned about $13 million in his career but when he tried to invest about $800,000 of his money and attempted to become a “private client” with JPMorgan to receive some additional perks the average client wouldn’t receive, the Times reported he was getting the runaround.

NFL SALARY CAP COULD HIT THIS MAJOR MILESTONE IN 2020

Kennedy was initially paired with financial adviser Ricardo Peters, who had also complained about racial discrimination and felt like he had a target on his back by his superiors. Peters filed a complaint with the bank that he alerted his then-boss, Frank Venniro, he was being treated differently because he was black and was suggested that he work for a less-wealthy bank, according to the Times.

Two months after the complaint was filed, Venniro told Peters he was being fired. There was reportedly no reason behind the dismissal and that he was just given “marching orders.” JPMorgan, after a lawsuit was filed by Peters against the company, said the adviser was terminated for “improperly assigning credit for a new client to an employee who managers didn’t think deserved it.”

Kennedy was then left out in the open with no new adviser while some of his money was being held up. The former player said Belton became his new adviser but felt like he was inexperienced and was only assigned to him because he was black.

According to the Times, Kennedy was not given the “private client” status when he was working with Peters and he complained to his new adviser and Venniro. Belton urged Kennedy not to talk to Venniro again. In the recordings published by the newspaper, Belton told Kennedy that he was a big black man in Arizona and that Venniro was afraid to tell Kennedy his “private status” was deleted after Peters was fired.

When Kennedy came back to raise questions about his private client status, Belton reportedly told the former NFL player that banks were scared of dealing with him and that he was better off only dealing with Belton.

“They’re not going to say this, but I don’t have the same level of intimidation that they have — you know what I’m saying? — not only being a former athlete but also being two black men,” Belton said, referring to Venniro, according to the Times. “You sit in front of him, you’re like three times his size — you feel what I’m saying? — he already probably has his perception of how these interactions could go.”

Belton added: “We’ve seen people that are not of your stature get irate, and it’s like, ‘Well, if this dude gets upset, like what’s going to happen to me?’”

Kennedy has since pulled out most of his money from the bank and filed a grievance with a watchdog group.

A JPMorgan spokeswoman defended the treatment of Kennedy and Peters and wasn’t aware of the recordings until they were published in the newspaper. The spokeswoman said one of its executive directors was placed on administrative leave as the bank investigates the incidents.

An aspiring AFL player accused of leading police on a drug-fuelled, high-speed chase and trying to run down a police officer before crashing into innocent motorists wants to be bailed so he can get back to work.

Apai Ali, 19, from Whittington in Geelong, appeared before a magistrate this morning after being charged following the New Year’s pursuit.

It is  alleged Mr Ali stole a car from a house in the Melbourne suburb of Wyndham Vale; then at 10.30pm on New Year’s Eve it’s alleged Ali and an 16 year old accomplice threatened to stab four boys, aged 14 and 15, before stealing their mobile phones and wallets.

Shortly after 2.30am a local detective in the Geelong area spotted the allegedly stolen Holden Calais and opted to give chase.

Court documents reveal police will allege Mr Ali was driving at speeds of 180km/hr with multiple police cars in pursuit.

Police allege the driver was Mr Ali and that he was driving for extended periods on the wrong side of the road.

Police deployed road spikes on the Geelong Road at Corio, as the car drove over them one tyre deflated, but the driver kept going.

The car was followed by the Airwing travelling towards Melbourne, before the drive did a U-turn at Brooklyn driving back to Geelong.

Police alleged again Mr Ali reached speeds of 130 to 180km/hr.

Once again road spikes were used, but police allege, as the officer was deploying the spikes, Mr Ali drove at her, forcing her to dive to safety.

The spikes blew out all three tyres but didn’t stop the drive.

Police allege Mr Ali continued on his car colliding with a taxi at Fynans Street in Geelong, before crashing into other vehicles, stopping after he struck an unmarked police car.

9NEWS has obtained CCTV of the dramatic moment the chase came to an end. A man, who police will allege is Mr Ali, is shown trying to flee the scene on foot.

Five officers can be seen giving chase to the man before arresting him 500 metres away at the back of a church.

His co-accused was detained at the scene.

Witnesses have also spoken exclusively to 9NEWS about the terrifying moments they spotted the car hurtling towards them.

Ash Mee from Bendigo was driving home when he spotted the headlights about 4.30am.

“I was coming up the Bellarnien Highway, next thing there was a car with high beams coming at me so I flashed him, he didn’t turn them off, next thing he went past me on the wrong side of the road. I had to pull on to the nature strip,” Mr Mee said.

“He had no tyre on his rims, sparks flying everywhere. Then about eight cops followed him.”

“(I was thinking) pretty much ‘I’m not dying yet. I’m getting out of the way. I was really scared,'” he added.

“He would’ve been about half a metre away from the car. If I didn’t pull on to the nature strip I would’ve been collected.”

At an out of sessions hearing yesterday, Mr Ali denied he had been involved in the robbery stating, “There’s lots of black people around with hair like this.”

This morning he fronted a magistrate, wearing a blue jumpsuit as he stood, arms folded listening to the magistrate’s instructions.

He was advised to seek some legal guidance before the next hearing, as it was indicated he wanted to make a bail application so he could return to work.

He also said he was still suffering headaches after his arrest.

The court was told Mr Ali is on anxiety medication, and medication to control mood swings.

He was remanded in custody to reappear at the Geelong Magistrates Court on January 12.
