A former Clemson football player has been formally arrested in connection with a double murder that happened in Georgia. Desmond Brown was taken in by authorities on Monday.

The bodies of two women, who are stepsisters, were discovered near Rome, Georgia a few days ago and authorities quickly determined their demise came by way of homicide.

It was just earlier this week when Brown was brought in on a misdemeanor charge for obstruction of a police officer in connection with the case. Along with him was 36-year-old Devin Watts who was also arrested and facing charges of theft of receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

It should be noted that both Brown and Watts have not been charged with the murder of Truvenia Campbell and Vanita Richardson. Both were found to have bags on their heads and had “obviously” been dropped from the bridge, according to Special Agent Joe Montgomery.

“These arrests were the results of search warrants executed on apartments and vehicles based on leads that were developed and tips received from the GBI Tip Line,” the GBI said in a news release. “This investigation remains active and ongoing.”

Brown was a member of Clemson’s 2010 signing class, and saw playing time in the form of a special teams role player as a redshirt freshman in 2011.

However, he would be dismissed by the program in November of that season for a violation of team rules. He would eventually go play for the West Alabama Tigers.

A former Clemson player has been arrested in connection with the murder of two women in Rome, Ga. According to a report FOX5 Atlanta, former Clemson safety and special teams player Desmond Brown was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor obstruction of a police officer.

The report states that the bodies of Vanita Richardson, 19, and Clarice Campbell, 30, were found on the bank of the Etowah River under the East Rome Bypass. The manner of death has been determined to be homicide.

On Monday, the 28-year old Brown was arrested for his misdemeanor charge. One day later, Devin Watts, 36, was arrested and charged with “theft of receiving stolen property; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.”

With both Brown and Watts in custody, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is still investigating the double-homicide.

Brown was a member of Clemson’s 2010 signing class, and he was a three-star recruit and the No. 45 safety in that recruiting cycle. As a redshirt freshman in 2011, Brown did see some playing time in the form of a special teams role player. However, the Centre, Ala. native was dismissed by the Tigers in November of that season for a violation of team rules. From there, he would go on to play for the West Alabama Tigers.

A former UW-Madison football player has been arrested in connection to a double homicide that occurred in Janesville, Wisconsin last Monday.

Marcus Randle-El, 33, turned himself into the Chicago Police Department on Saturday and was taken into custody. He is currently facing two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.

The victims — 30-year-old Seairaha Winchester and 27-year-old Brittany McAdory — were found shot near the intersection of Midvale Drive and Deerfield Drive in Janesville. They were alive when police arrived on the scene and taken to a hospital, where they died.

Randle-El played wide receiver for the UW-Madison football team from 2004 to 2007 before he was sidelined with a knee injury. Police Lieutenant Charles Aagaard of the Janesville Police Department confirmed that he has not yet made a confession.

The JPD determined that the suspect, Randle-El, took the victims’ vehicle following the homicides. The vehicle was later located on Interstate 294 in Justice, Illinois before the suspect turned himself into the District 2 Chicago Police Department.

The families of the victims have been notified of the arrest and the investigation remains ongoing.

In 2005, Randle-El got into a fight with a former teammate over missing money and was charged with misdemeanor battery and bail-jumping. He also pleaded guilty to another battery charge for an incident involving his girlfriend in a dorm room in Ogg Hall. He received probation for the two incidents.

Then, in 2014, Randle-El was charged with home invasion and child abduction.

The JPD asks that anyone with information about the homicides call the police department at 608-757-2244. Anonymous tips can be submitted to CrimeStoppers at 608-756-3636.

An Eastern Washington University football player has been removed from the team after being charged with multiple counts of theft.

James Durr, 18, was charged with theft, identity theft and making false statements after police say he stole a fellow college student’s wallet last month. Durr is a freshman from Vancouver, Washington, according to the EWU football roster.

Fellow football player Jordan White has also been interviewed by police in relation to the crimes, as the Easterner first reported.

A student reported her wallet had been stolen from her room in Snyamncut Hall on Feb. 25. When EWU police arrived, they found Durr and White talking to the victim, court records say.

The players told police they saw a woman enter the victim’s room and flee, both giving a detailed description of the suspect. The players said they went door to door looking for the suspect, court records say.

After reviewing surveillance footage of the area, police didn’t see a suspect matching the players’ description. Another student went to police the next day and said White and Durr committed the theft, court records say.

Durr admitted to police during an interview that he lied to police and stole the wallet, court records indicate.

Multiple witnesses told police Durr discussed planning the robbery with White.

The victim told police Durr and White did have permission to be in her room before her wallet was stolen.

Another football player told police Durr made an unauthorized Paypal transfer from his account on March 2.

Durr admitted to finding the teammate’s wallet in the locker room and taking pictures of his debit card to make unauthorized transfers, court records show.

Durr was arrested on March 4 but has since been released.

White was also interviewed by police but denied any involvement in the crimes, according to court documents.

White is a freshman defensive back from Lynwood, California, majoring in criminal justice, according to the team’s roster.

White has not been charged with a crime. Both players were removed from the EWU football team and will go through the student conduct process.

Janesville police announced Saturday that former Wisconsin Badgers football player Marcus Randle El has been arrested in connection with a double homicide.

Seairaha Winchester, 30, of Joliet, Illinois, and Brittany McAdory, 28, of Janesville were found with multiple gunshot wounds near the intersection of Midvale Drive and Deerfield Drive in Janesville around 3:20 a.m. Monday, according to police.

Randle El, 33, of Homewood, Illinois, turned himself in to Chicago police Saturday afternoon, Janesville Police Chief David Moore said at a news conference recorded by local media. He said he expects Randle El to be charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.

Randle El, the younger brother of former NFL standout Antwaan Randle El, played wide receiver for UW from 2004 through ’07.

The investigation still remains active, with officers still interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence, Janesville police Lt. Charles Aagaard said. Police are unsure of a motive and have not recovered a weapon.

Aagaard said police determined Winchester and McAdory had visited a gas station near Humes Road in Janesville around 2 a.m. Monday and had plans to meet later that morning with Randle El, who was already near the same gas station at that time.

They departed the gas station in McAdory’s car and weren’t seen again until a passing motorist found the two women near the side of the road several blocks away around 3:20 a.m., each with several gunshot wounds, Aagaard said. They were taken to a hospital, where they died.

McAdory’s car was found later along Interstate 294 in Justice, Illinois, about a 25-minute drive from Homewood, Aagaard said.

During his career with UW, Randle El’s contributions on the field were minimal as he finished with four catches for 45 yards and a touchdown and 11 rushes for 29 yards.

Randle El also encountered trouble off the field.

He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery twice in 2005, first in March and then in December.

The first incident involved an argument with a woman inside Ogg Hall. Randle El allegedly punched teammate Nick Sutton, a linebacker from Detroit, in the second incident.

Randle El was eventually sentenced to 18 months probation and ordered to undergo anger-management counseling.

In 2014, Randle El was also charged with kidnapping after allegedly taking his 3-year-old daughter at gunpoint in Illinois, according to NBC Chicago.

A women’s college basketball star is under arrest and being held in connection with the slaying of an Atlanta man four months ago, authorities said Monday.

Kamiyah Street, 20, a junior point guard and the leading scorer for the Kennesaw State Owls, was taken into custody on Thursday and is being held without bail.

She’s one of five people indicted in connection with the July 16 shooting death of Nashiem Hubbard-Etienne, 21, officials said.

Street came to the attention of police who were “reviewing surveillance video captured during the homicide,” according to a statement released on Monday by Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard.

Let our news meet your inbox. The news and stories that matters, delivered weekday mornings.

“Upon questioning, Street admitted her presence and participation in the death of Hubbard-Etienne,” Howard added.

Even though Street has been indicted for murder, prosecutors have already said they’re ready to make a deal for “some form of immunity” to gain her testimony, according to Howard.

It wasn’t immediately clear what exact role Street allegedly played in Hubbard-Etienne’s slaying.

Police said Monday that Hubbard-Etienne’s killing appeared to be a “targeted shooting.”

Before her arrest, Street was averaging 16.9 points per game. In the last game before she was arrested, Street scored a season-high 32 points in a 95-69 win over Georgia State on Nov. 17.

She was the Atlantic Sun Conference’s freshman of the year in 2018, before going on to be first-team all-league in 2019.

Owls coach Agnes Berenato declined comment through an athletics department spokesman on Monday.

The university has said Street was “suspended indefinitely” from all team and athletic activities.

Court records did not list an attorney for the player, whose arraignment was set for Dec. 13.

The others indicted with Street include Cortez Devon Banks, 22; Dontacus Brantley, 20; Johnerton Blake Gilstrap, 21; and Tobias Raynard Wells, 20.

The Clemson Police Department has released the 911 call in connection to the March armed robbery in which two former Clemson University football players were charged.

Jadar Kentrell Johnson, 22, and Charlie Bernard Fuller, 22, both part of Clemson’s 2016 national championship team, were charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Co-defendant Quaven Maurice Ferguson, 22, also faces the same charges.

A distressed caller can be heard on the line with the dispatcher, reporting the armed robbery at her boyfriend’s apartment.

“I’m pretty sure they’re on the football team,” she said, telling the dispatcher that she thinks the robbers know her boyfriend, who she said is also a football player, but wasn’t home at the time.

The victim said two men in hoods entered the apartment, holding a gun in her face, while she believed a third person served as the lookout. She said they stole her phone and cash from the apartment.

You can listen to the full 911 call below.

Police were called to the reported armed robbery at an apartment on Sloan Street in Clemson around 4 p.m. March 28.

They held the victim at gunpoint, took a cellphone, and an undisclosed amount of cash from a kitchen cabinet and a nightstand in the back bedroom, according to police and arrest warrants.

The victims were a 21-year-old male who lived at the apartment and a 20-year-old female who lived at a separate address, according to an incident report.

Police identified Johnson, Fuller and Ferguson through surveillance video from the City of Clemson Parking Deck, according to warrants. The men were seen returning to a white, four-door Mercedes-Benz that is registered to a family member of one of the men, according to warrants.

A Clemson municipal court judge on March 29 set each of their bond amounts at $25,000. They were released on bond by the end of the day, Clemson city officials said. The defendants, as part of conditions of their bond, are under electronic monitoring and prohibited from leaving South Carolina or contacting the victims.

The three men are due back in court at 8:30 a.m. May 17 in Pickens County.

Fuller and Ferguson graduated from Easley High School, and Ferguson played football at Duke University.

Johnson, originally from Orangeburg, started 17 games at safety for the Tigers and went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft. He signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent but announced his retirement from football before the season began.

In February, head football coach Dabo Swinney announced Fuller’s plan to transfer out of the program for the 2018 season. He rushed for a combined 599 yards and four touchdowns in his three years at Clemson.

Overland Park Police spokesman John Lacy confirmed to FOX4 that Wainright’s arrest is in connection to a Jan. 17, 2018 road rage shooting on Interstate 435.

A court date has not yet been scheduled.

In a statement released Tuesday, Kansas State Athletics Director Gene Taylor said Wainright has been indefinitely suspended from the basketball team.

“We are aware of Ahmad’s situation, and due to the seriousness of the charges he has been indefinitely suspended from our men’s basketball team per athletic department policy,” Taylor said. “We take matters such as these very seriously and will re-evaluate his status as we learn more information.”
