SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – NFL free agent Barry Cofield was arrested on multiple charges after he was found passed out behind the wheel of his Cadillac Escalade on Interstate 4, then rammed a patrol vehicle while attempting to elude officers, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Cofield’s Escalade was found stopped on the off-ramp of eastbound I-4 at West Lake Mary Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday. When they peered inside the vehicle, they saw Cofield slumped behind the steering wheel with the vehicle still running and in drive. His foot was on the brake, according to the report.

It took several minutes for Cofield to regain consciousness and when he did, he refused to follow commands to put his vehicle in park and instead sped off, the affidavit said.

Deputies said they followed Cofield as he swerved in and out of traffic, sideswiped a vehicle that was stopped at an intersection on Lake Mary Boulevard and International Parkway, and continued to take maneuvers to evade arrest.

Cofield stopped when he got to the front gate of the Steeple Chase subdivision in Lake Mary but still refused to get out of the Escalade, according to the report.

A patrol car was positioned in front of Cofield’s vehicle to prevent him from driving off and that’s when authorities said Cofield rammed into the patrol vehicle, the affidavit said.

Even after the crash, deputies said Cofield refused to exit his vehicle until they broke the driver’s side window.

Once Cofield was in handcuffs, officers conducted a search and found that Cofield had two small plastic bags with heroin inside, according to the report. Cofield also smelled of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot and watery, deputies said.

Deputies said Cofield refused to undergo any field sobriety tests or provide a breath sample to have his blood alcohol content measured.

Records show Cofield was charged with fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting a law enforcement officer without violence and possession of heroin.

Cofield last played for the New York Giants in 2015. The Longwood home listed in the report as his address is valued at approximately $1.4 million.

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) – The Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office has released body camera video of traffic stop that put a Virginia State University women’s basketball player behind bars.

Officials say they stopped a car on Route 460 Monday night.  One deputy tells 10 On Your Side he clocked the driver going 68 mph in a 55 mph zone.

“You got your driver’s license?” the deputy asked the driver.

“No I got nothing,” the driver answered.  “What am I being pulled over for?”

Deputies say the driver, identified as Shonnice Vaughn and her passenger, Natasha Bowman, weren’t willing to cooperate.

“Don’t make this harder than it has to be,” the deputy said to them in the video.

“This particular case the deputy was met with a lot of resistance from the individuals,” said Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant James Pope.

Things became serious during the traffic stop when the deputy noticed something on the floor of the car.

“Where is the gun at?” the deputy asked Vaughn and Bowman.

“We don’t have the gun,” Bowman answered.

“Why is there a holster?” the deputy asked.

The video shows Vaughn making a phone call to her college basketball coach and then she rolls up the window.

Vaughn was on the Virginia State University basketball team.  She is no longer listed on the roster.

After both women were out of the car, deputies found a gun they say belonged to Vaughn.

“The stop was for a speeding charge,” Pope added. “It’s releasable on a summons. She would have been issued a summons and released on her business.”

Vaughn was charged with speeding, concealing a weapon, obstruction of justice and driving without a license.  Bowman was also charged with concealing a weapon.

Both suspects made court appearances Wednesday morning. They were each given a $2,000 bond and will be back in court in April.

WOODRUFF, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a former employee at Woodruff High School has been arrested after he admitted to having a sexual relationship with a student.

Deputies said they began investigating on December 21 after the principal heard rumor of a coach kissing a student.

“The principal confronted the employee, who denied the allegation but immediately resigned his position at the school,” Lt. Kevin Bobo stated in an email. “After the Christmas break, the suspect came back to the school and confessed to the principal that he had been engaging in a sexual relationship with a student.”

Bobo said a special victims’ unit investigator spoke with the victim and her mother and then consulted with the solicitor’s office to determine what charge to file.

Warrants were signed on Jan. 31 charging De’Andre Reshaud Presley, 27, of Greenville with sexual battery with a student. His bond was set at $10,000.

Presley worked as the Assistant Football Coach and was a Career Development Facilitator, according to the district superintendent.

He also played in the NFL, including for the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers. Presley was a quarterback for Appalachian State in college and a finalist for the prestigious Walter Payton Award.

Spartanburg District Four Superintendent Dr. Rallie Liston stated released this statement about the arrest:

“Mr. Pressley is no longer an employee in Spartanburg District Four. He had served in a non-certified staff position from June through December 2017. Administration immediately contacted a School Resource Officer and notified the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office when the matter was brought to their attention. Student safety has always been and will continue to be our top priority. The district conducts background checks on all employees and meets with new staff members to communicate the high expectations for employee conduct. Beyond that, we are unable to comment on personnel matters or matters related to the privacy of our students.”
