Feb. 16 (UPI) — Former University of Wisconsin football player Marcus Randle El was arrested in connection with a double homicide, Janesville police said.

Janesville Police Chief David Moore said Randle El, 33, turned himself in to Chicago police on Saturday afternoon in connection with the deaths of Seairaha Winchester, 30, of Joliet, Ill., and Brittany McAdory, 28, of Janesville, Wis.

Randle El played wide receiver for the Wisconsin Badgers from 2004 through ’07. He is the younger brother of Antwaan Randle El, who played nine seasons in the NFL and currently is an offensive assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Moore said he expects Randle El to be charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.

Winchester and McAdory were found shot near a Janesville intersection and taken to a hospital where they died.

Lt. Charles Aagaard said investigators recovered video confirming the two victims went to a gas station at about 2 a.m. on Monday and had evidence that they planned to meet later that morning with Randle El, who was also at the gas station.

They left the gas station in McAdory’s car and weren’t seen again until a passing motorist spotted them on the side of the road with multiple gunshot injuries.

McAdory’s car was later found along an interstate in Illinois about 30 miles northwest of Randle El’s hometown of Homewood, Ill.

Court records state that at the time of the shooting Randle El was out of jail on parole after being charged with kidnapping for allegedly taking his 3-year-old daughter at gunpoint in Illinois.

Randle El had also previously been arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery in March and December of 2005.

PEARL RIVER — More than eight months after the fiery crash that took the lives of her cousin and a high school friend, the Orangeburg woman who drove the sports car that raced down Route 304 and a second driver have been charged with criminally negligent homicide, police said Wednesday.

Orangetown police accused Aisha Radoncic, then 17, and Jason Castro of driving recklessly on Oct. 13 as they raced down the road, triggering a crash that killed two people in Radoncic’s 2017 Porsche Macan.

Radoncic’s car plunged off the Route 304 overpass onto the train tracks for the Pascack Valley line, bursting into flames. Castro of Nanuet drove a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta and was not injured.

Two passengers in the Porsche, Pearl River High School senior and football player Altin Nezaj, 17, and 15-year-old Saniha Cekic of Brooklyn, were killed. Radoncic, who was treated at the Westchester Medical Center and released, and Cekic were cousins.

Both Radoncic and Castro pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Police arrested Castro and Radoncic on two felony counts of criminally negligent homicide and misdemeanor counts of reckless driving, speed contests, and races. They also were given several vehicle and traffic law infractions.

Orangetown police arrested Radoncic on Monday and Castro on Tuesday.

Capt. James Brown said the incidents is an open criminal case and certain information cannot be released at this time.

Orangetown Police Chief Donald Butterworth said the investigation took time and dedication.

“Our Accident Investigation Team and their partners in the NYS Police and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office have been deeply committed to this investigation from its start,” he said.

Butterworth and District Attorney Thomas Walsh also recalled the young people who died in the crash.

“Today our community relives the horrible tragedy that claimed the lives of two teenagers, taken from us with there whole lives in front of them,” Walsh said. “The allegations are that the two arrested individuals were engaged in a road race.

“We need to remind our young drivers that cars aren’t toys,” Walsh said. “What appears to be an exciting race turns into a tragedy that has forever impacted numerous families and Pearl River as a community. Our sympathies go out to all the families involved in this horrible event.”

Pearl River school Superintendent Marco Pochintesta said the victims of the Oct. 13 crash continued to be remembered by the district community.

“As we approach graduation, we especially recall the memory of Altin Nezaj, member of the Class of 2020, who we have held in our hearts throughout the year, and we offer our thoughts to the Nezaj, Cekic and Radoncic relatives and loved ones,” Pochintesta said in a statement.

Castro was arraigned by Justice Patrick Loftus and released without bail pending a court appearance scheduled for Aug. 10. Radoncic was arraigned Tuesday in the Youth Part of the Rockland Superior Court by Judge Larry J Schwartz. She was released  without bail for a scheduled court appearance on June 30.

The crash occurred on northbound Route 304 in the vicinity of the Crooked Hill Road overpass at approximately 3:26 p.m. that Saturday over the Columbus Day weekend. The road has had numerous accidents in the area.

Orangetown and state police accident investigation officers spent weeks reconstructing the crash and reviewing the evidence with the state police to determine the cause. Detective Sgt. James Sullivan said at the time there was no indication of drug or alcohol use by the drivers or passengers.

Nezaj, who came from a large, close-knit Albanian-American family, was an excellent student and a standout athlete at Pearl River High School.

On the Pirates football team, Nezaj wore number 71, a 6-foot-2-inch, 205-pound defensive lineman. The entire team attended his wake at a Yonkers funeral home.

His wrestling coach remembered him as a great teammate and competitor whom they called “Big Al.” In track-and-field, he threw the discus and shot put.

Nezaj died at the scene, while emergency room personnel pronounced Cekic dead at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She had been airlifted to the hospital.

Driver not culpable: Lawyer

Castro’s attorney, Gerard Damiani, said he had yet to see any evidence from the police and prosecution concerning his client. Damiani said the prosecution asked the judge for a delay in presenting evidence and witness statements to the defense within 10 days of arrest under the state justice reforms. The judge did not make a decision, he said.

Damiani said he originally thought Castro would be involved in a civil case, but then the police began interviewing him.

“Aside from the tragic deaths and pain suffered by the families, we don’t have any indication our client is criminally responsible,” Damiani said. “I have no information other than the allegations. I have no indication there was any agreement to have a race.”

Attorney John Hughes, representing Radoncic, said he’s awaiting the investigative reports before commenting. He said she’s still recovering from her injuries.

“It was a terrible tragedy and my heart goes out the families who lost loved ones,” Hughes said. “Ms. Radoncic also was a victim and not the culpable party.”

JANESVILLE, Wisc. (WIFR) —– Janesville Police announce the arrest of a former University of Wisconsin football in connection with a double murder.

Marcus Randle-El turned himself into police in Chicago on Saturday afternoon, along with members of the Janesville Police Department present.

Authorities charged 33-year-old Randle-El with two counts of first degree intentional homicide.

On Monday, 30-year-old Seairaha Winchester and 27-year-old Brittany McAdory were shot and killed near the intersection of Midvale Drive and Deerfield Drive in Janesville.

In a press conference, Lt. Charles Aagaard said detectives discovered video surveillance footage which confirmed Winchester and McAdory went to the T.A. Express gas station around 2 a.m. Monday morning and left the store in McAdory’s black Jeep Cherokee.

In their investigation, evidence pointed to a potential planned meeting between the women and Randle-El.

Just after 3 a.m., a driver found both women lying in the road, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

Investigators say Randle-El allegedly drove off in McAdory’s SUV, where officers later found it abandoned on I-294, in Justice.

This arrest comes while Randle-El was out of jail on parole for an incident in 2014, where spent six years in prison after he abducted his daughter at gunpoint in Cook County.

The brother of Super Bowl champ, Antwann, Randle-El played wide receiver for the Badgers from 2004 to 2007.

Eighth Immortal Andrew Johns has hinted at a double standard between the punishments handed out to NRL superstars Latrell Mitchell and Josh Addo-Carr and the two Canterbury players who were last month sacked.

Mitchell and Addo-Carr are both due to appear in Taree Local Court on August 4 on separate firearms charges.

The alleged offences stem from the now infamous camping trip on Mitchell’s Taree property.

Mitchell is facing one charge of giving a firearm to a person not authorised by a licence or permit while Addo-Carr was charged with using an unauthorised firearm.

South Sydney star Mitchell’s charge carries a maximum five-year prison sentence.

Mitchell and Addo-Carr were also each fined $50,000 (60 percent suspended) and handed suspended one-match bans by the NRL for breaching NSW’s coronavirus social distancing laws.

Meanwhile, ex-Bulldogs pair Corey Harawira-Naera and Jayden Okunbor had their NRL registrations suspended indefinitely before they were sacked by the Bulldogs last month.

Okunbor and Harawira-Naera allegedly invited two schoolgirls to the team hotel during the club’s pre-season trip to Port Macquarie in February.

Both girls were above the age of consent at the time and neither player was charged by police.

Former NRL CEO Todd Greenberg declared the Bulldogs duo’s alleged behaviour was ‘inexcusable and a very serious breach of the code of conduct’ in announcing the decision to suspend their registration.

Both players reportedly plan to appeal the governing body’s decision, which was followed by Canterbury’s call to tear up their contracts.

And Johns this week suggested the Bulldogs players may have been hard done by when compared to the punishments meted out to Mitchell and Addo-Carr.

“Some people have asked me what’s the difference between what Latrell and Josh have done and what the Bulldogs players have done – what’s worse?” Johns told Wide World of Sports’ Freddy & The Eighth.

“And the Bulldogs players have had their contracts torn up. Where one’s a criminal matter and ones more a moral issue.”

A former UW-Madison football player has been arrested in connection to a double homicide that occurred in Janesville, Wisconsin last Monday.

Marcus Randle-El, 33, turned himself into the Chicago Police Department on Saturday and was taken into custody. He is currently facing two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.

The victims — 30-year-old Seairaha Winchester and 27-year-old Brittany McAdory — were found shot near the intersection of Midvale Drive and Deerfield Drive in Janesville. They were alive when police arrived on the scene and taken to a hospital, where they died.

Randle-El played wide receiver for the UW-Madison football team from 2004 to 2007 before he was sidelined with a knee injury. Police Lieutenant Charles Aagaard of the Janesville Police Department confirmed that he has not yet made a confession.

The JPD determined that the suspect, Randle-El, took the victims’ vehicle following the homicides. The vehicle was later located on Interstate 294 in Justice, Illinois before the suspect turned himself into the District 2 Chicago Police Department.

The families of the victims have been notified of the arrest and the investigation remains ongoing.

In 2005, Randle-El got into a fight with a former teammate over missing money and was charged with misdemeanor battery and bail-jumping. He also pleaded guilty to another battery charge for an incident involving his girlfriend in a dorm room in Ogg Hall. He received probation for the two incidents.

Then, in 2014, Randle-El was charged with home invasion and child abduction.

The JPD asks that anyone with information about the homicides call the police department at 608-757-2244. Anonymous tips can be submitted to CrimeStoppers at 608-756-3636.

Police arrested a former college football player and charged him in connection with the killing of two women earlier this week. According to a report from WMTV, former Wisconsin wide receiver Marcus Randle El turned himself in to police custody on Saturday afternoon.

Police charged the former Badgers wide receiver with two counts of first degree intentional homicide. According to the report, Randle El knew the victims, but police did not detail the extent of their relationship.

30-year-old Seairaha Winchester and 27-year-old Brittany McAdory were found shot in Janesville, Wisconsin earlier this week.

Here’s the news from NBC 15 reporter Caroline Peterson.

Randle El, 33, has a checkered past. The former Wisconsin football player was on parole at the time of the murders.

Randle El abducted his daughter at gunpoint in Cook County, Illinois in 2014. A judge sentenced him to six years in prison in 2016 as a result of the incident.

He was released from prison in October 2018, according to the report.

Randle El played wide receiver for Wisconsin from 2004-07. He ran into trouble with the law during his collegiate career as well.

Police arrested him and charged him with battery after an argument with a woman during his freshman year. In the same year, police arrested Randle El after he allegedly punched a teammate.

He is the younger brother of former Pittsburgh Steelers star Antwaan Randle El.

Janesville police announced Saturday that former Wisconsin Badgers football player Marcus Randle El has been arrested in connection with a double homicide.

Seairaha Winchester, 30, of Joliet, Illinois, and Brittany McAdory, 28, of Janesville were found with multiple gunshot wounds near the intersection of Midvale Drive and Deerfield Drive in Janesville around 3:20 a.m. Monday, according to police.

Randle El, 33, of Homewood, Illinois, turned himself in to Chicago police Saturday afternoon, Janesville Police Chief David Moore said at a news conference recorded by local media. He said he expects Randle El to be charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.

Randle El, the younger brother of former NFL standout Antwaan Randle El, played wide receiver for UW from 2004 through ’07.

The investigation still remains active, with officers still interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence, Janesville police Lt. Charles Aagaard said. Police are unsure of a motive and have not recovered a weapon.

Aagaard said police determined Winchester and McAdory had visited a gas station near Humes Road in Janesville around 2 a.m. Monday and had plans to meet later that morning with Randle El, who was already near the same gas station at that time.

They departed the gas station in McAdory’s car and weren’t seen again until a passing motorist found the two women near the side of the road several blocks away around 3:20 a.m., each with several gunshot wounds, Aagaard said. They were taken to a hospital, where they died.

McAdory’s car was found later along Interstate 294 in Justice, Illinois, about a 25-minute drive from Homewood, Aagaard said.

During his career with UW, Randle El’s contributions on the field were minimal as he finished with four catches for 45 yards and a touchdown and 11 rushes for 29 yards.

Randle El also encountered trouble off the field.

He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery twice in 2005, first in March and then in December.

The first incident involved an argument with a woman inside Ogg Hall. Randle El allegedly punched teammate Nick Sutton, a linebacker from Detroit, in the second incident.

Randle El was eventually sentenced to 18 months probation and ordered to undergo anger-management counseling.

In 2014, Randle El was also charged with kidnapping after allegedly taking his 3-year-old daughter at gunpoint in Illinois, according to NBC Chicago.

DELAND — A man who played a role in one of the most heart-breaking, heinous murders in Lake County history has been charged with beating his girlfriend in what has been a long pattern of domestic violence, according to court records.

Manuel Yon Jr. was 16 years old on Jan. 30, 1993, when his friends Richard “Ric” Henyard, 18, and Alfonza Smalls Jr., 14, showed up at his house and asked if he wanted to go to a nightclub in Orlando.

Yon said yes, and they drove off in a stolen 1989 Chrysler Fifth Avenue.

Henyard had earlier told him that he needed money and planned to rob somebody, according to court records.

They hadn’t gone far when Henyard turned to him and said, “I shot somebody.”

“Yeah, right,” Yon said.

“I’m not joking. I shot somebody,” Henyard said, as Yon recalled the conversation.

“I got something else to tell you.”

“What’s that?”

“I raped somebody.”

“Somebody,” turned out to be Dorothy Lewis, 35, a widow who was carjacked at the Eustis Winn-Dixie, raped, shot and left for dead, and her two daughters, Jamilya, 7, and Jasmine, 3, murdered.

Yon would end up being charged with accessory after the fact after he obtained a change of clothes for the young killers, whose own clothes were blood-stained. Yon was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in jail.

Yon had been in trouble before. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon (a stick in his back pocket). He later admitted that he went along with Henyard’s request before the shooting to “hold” a gun for him.

Witness accounts said Yon was bragging about Henyard’s exploits to friends, with the trio even showing off the .22-caliber pistol, which Henyard stole from a man he called his “grandfather.”

After returning from Orlando and ditching the stolen car, the gun was stashed in Yon’s bedroom.

Henyard, in one of the dumbest, most notorious appearances of a criminal before police, went to the Eustis Police Department in an attempt to collect a $1,000 reward and claimed Yon and Smalls were the killers.

He was talking to officers when Detective Bud Hart exclaimed, “There’s some [expletive] blood on your socks!”

“How do you know that ain’t no ketchup stain?” Henyard said.

That was nothing, however, compared to what Henyard told Lewis and the terrified children as she was praying.

“This ain’t Jesus doing this; this is Satan doing this!”

Henyard was executed in 2008. Smalls was sentenced to life in prison, but because of a Supreme Court ruling prohibiting juveniles from being sentenced to life without parole, Smalls will get a new hearing.

That hearing has not been scheduled. Among other things, prosecutors must first talk to Lewis about her wishes.

Lewis, who describes herself as a walking miracle, was shot in the knee, hit with a grazing bullet to her neck, was shot in her mouth and hit with a bullet in her forehead right between her eyes. She has recovered and talks about her ordeal in the book, “Unbroken: The Dorothy Lewis Story.”

“Even though I was faced with a mother’s worst nightmare, He never left me, and God is still carrying me through it,” she wrote.

Yon’s latest arrest occurred on May 3. A Lake County sheriff’s deputy was called to Hillside Drive near DeLand. When he arrived, he saw Yon, 42, “in the victim’s face yelling he was sorry.” The woman had a swollen face and was crying hysterically. The deputy ordered Yon to get on the ground, and as he did, another woman approached him carrying a hatchet and screaming at him to leave the victim alone. The deputy identified himself as an officer, and the woman dropped the hatchet and began thanking him for getting there.

After handcuffing Yon, the deputy interviewed the victim, who said she and Yon had started arguing and he began to punch her repeatedly in the face. The woman said Yon then picked her up and slammed her to the ground.

Meanwhile, the victim’s child went to a neighbor’s house very upset. The neighbor went outside to see what was happening and saw Yon on top of the victim, who was prone on the ground and was not responding.

Yon was charged with battery. He has been arrested at least a half dozen times in recent years for drug offenses and assaults and served a year in state prison between 2016 and 2017 for battery, drug possession and aggravated stalking.

Yon was sentenced to a year in jail for his role in helping Henyard and Yon.

In 1995 he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, but the charges were dropped.

In 1997 he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was sentenced t0 33 months in state prison.

He has been arrested at least four times in battery cases.

In 2016 he was arrested in jail and charged with aggravated stalking and violating an injunction for protection after allegedly writing eight letters and making at least 11 phone calls to his victim, in most cases, by using other prisoners’ pin numbers.

Sometimes prosecutors can seek enhanced sentences for repeat offenders. It is not clear at this point what the State Attorney’s Office might do in his case.

UPDATE @ 11:30 a.m. (Jan. 8)

The next hearing in the case against Trey Blevins, charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in the deaths of two Greenon school district students, is set to happen in March.

An 18-year-old Greenon High graduate who was driving during a crash last August that claimed the lives of two Greenon boys is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on Monday in Greene County Common Pleas Court.

On Aug. 20, authorities said Trey M. Blevins lost control of a 2005 Toyota Corolla and crashed into a tree on the side of Wilkerson Road in August.

The two rear seat passengers, 17-year-old David Waag and 15-year-old Connor Williams, died as a result of their injuries. Blevins and the front seat passenger, 17-year-old Zacharia Knauer, were treated for their injuries at Soin Medical Center.

The Greenon community continues to mourn for Waag, a senior soccer player, and Williams, a sophomore at Global Impact STEM Academy who played football for Greenon.

In addition to Monday, Blevins is scheduled to be in Judge Stephen Wolaver’s court in March for a suppression hearing.

In December, tests showed Blevins had three times the state’s legal limit for cannibinoids, a substance found in marijuana, at the time of the crash.

Blevins’ lawyer, Jon Paul Rion, downplayed the importance of the test result, noting marijuana can be detected for 30 days.

But on Dec. 26, Rion filed the suppression motion, prompting the court to schedule a March 7 hearing.

Blevins, secretly indicted on Nov. 30 on two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs, remains free after posting a $50,000 bond.

As a condition of bond, Blevins was to complete a “chemical dependency evaluation” and follow treatment recommendations.

Monday’s hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m.
