Ex-PBA player nabbed for stabbing partner

MANILA, Philippines — Former Philippine Basketball Association player Mark Reynan Cardona was arrested yesterday morning after he allegedly stabbed his partner in Barangay San Antonio, Makati City.

Cardona allegedly brought Bianca Nicole Jackes, 25, to the Makati Medical Center after she sustained stab wounds on her left arm, according to a police report.

The Makati police said Cardona allegedly attacked Jackes during a heated argument in their condominium unit.

Cardona is facing charges of physical injuries and is detained at the Makati police station, city police chief Senior Superintendent Gerardo Umayao said.

Cardona was previously charged with estafa and violation of Presidential Decree 1612, or the Anti-Fencing Law, before the Pasay prosecutor’s office after he allegedly pawned a stolen Subaru Forester for P300,000 in Pasay City.

The Highway Patrol Group said the charges were filed against Cardona when a certain Michelle Flores informed them about the vehicle’s status after learning from the Land Transportation Office that it was included in the agency’s list of stolen vehicles.

Cardona was formerly a player of Talk and Text, Meralco Bolts, Air21 Express, NLEX Road Warriors and Global Port Batang Pier.
