Roosters forward Victor Radley is free to play against Brisbane this week after being found not guilty of a grade one dangerous throw charge at the judiciary on Tuesday night.

Radley, who was facing a one-match ban, needed to successfully contest the charge in order to play in Thursday’s match against Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium.

He was charged over a 39th-minute tackle on South Sydney’s Dane Gagai in last Friday night’s 28-12 win at  Bankwest Stadium.

Radley placed on report for tackle on Gagai

Earlier, Melbourne forwards Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui both accepted dangerous contact charges.

Asofa-Solomona was charged for an incident involving Canberra prop Dunamis Lui in the 13th minute of Melbourne’s loss at AAMI Park. He could not reduce the one-match ban with an early guilty plea.

Unlike his teammate, Fa’asuamaleaui has avoided a one-game ban with his early plea.

Warriors veteran Agnatius Paasi has accepted a one-match ban for dangerous conduct.

The only other player suspended was Broncos centre Kotoni Staggs.

He will miss one match after entering an early plea for grade-two careless high tackle on Parramatta five-eighth Dylan Brown during last Thursday 34-6 loss at Suncorp Stadium.

The grade-two charge carried a two-game suspension for Staggs if found guilty, or a one-game suspension with an early plea, and he will return for the clash with Manly in round five at Gosford.

Edrick Lee (dangerous contact) was the only player charged from Sunday’s two games for an incident in the 23rd minute involving Panthers forward Kurt Capewell but the Newcastle winger avoided suspension with an early guilty plea.

The other players copped fines or avoided suspensions with the early guilty plea – Norman (dangerous contact: 75 demerit points), Wests Tigers forwards Alex Twal (contrary conduct: $1350 fine) and Oliver Clark (dangerous contact: 75 demerit points) and Roosters prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (grade-one careless high tackle: $1600).

HEMPHILL, Texas — The 18-year-old former Jasper High football player accused of sexual assault of a child has been released from jail.

The Sabine County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Terrien Collins was released on Thursday after posting bond.

His bond was set at a combined total of $100,000. Each charge was $50,000, according to the sheriff’s department.

Collins was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and unlawful restraint of a person under 17.

Collins posted a statement on his Facebook page after being released from jail:

“I would like to thank my community and all my family and friends that have my back I love y’all so much god you made me strong for a reason everything I have been through you have been with me ?? I’m cried out I want everybody to know that I’m so thankful I promise I am I know I’m not in anything alone and I’ll never feel alone.”

Collins was arrested Sunday May 10, after being in a car that was pulled over for a traffic stop. He was taken to the Hardin County Jail on two warrants from Sabine County, according to investigators.

Collins was also a signee for Texas A&M Commerce’s football program.

He was released from a letter of intent Tuesday, according to a statement from Josh Manck, the senior associate director of athletics for strategic communications at Texas A&M Commerce.

“Lion Athletics is aware of the very serious charges brought against a young man who had signed a letter of intent to participate in intercollegiate athletics at Texas A&M University-Commerce. In light of the grave nature of these allegations, he has been released from his letter of intent, and the young man will not be a Lion student-athlete nor admitted to the institution this fall,” Manck said in the statement.

Two senior constables have been suspended so far over the leaked pictures of former AFL player and coach Dean Laidley inside a police station.

The first Victorian police officer accused of sharing the photos was suspended with pay on Monday, and is expected to be charged with accessing police information without authorisation.

The second officer was suspended on Tuesday and is likely to face the same charge, which carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison or $40,000 in fines.

Deputy Police Commissioner Shane Patton said on Monday that six police officers were sent the photos via WhatsApp and they could face charges if it’s found they disseminated them further.

It is unclear whether the constable suspended on Tuesday is among the six officers.

The dissemination of the pictures of Laidley in the station’s interview room was an “appalling” act, Mr Patton said.

The photos appeared on the front pages of The Herald Sun and The West Australian newspapers on Monday.

The 53-year-old was photographed wearing a long blonde wig and a dress after his arrest outside a home in St Kilda on Saturday night.

Laidley is facing stalking and other charges, and remains in custody until May 11 after not applying for bail.

Victoria’s Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission says the privacy breach is deplorable.

“Victoria Police plays a vital role in assuring the safety of the Victorian community – but they can only succeed in that role if their conduct inspires public confidence,” VEOHRC commissioner Kristen Hilton said.

When Tampa Bay Buccaneers starting quarterback Jameis Winston takes the field, the crowd is focused on one thing — the game.

Winston, at only 24 years old, is one of the best in the league. A former Florida State Seminole, he has had a stellar professional career so far — 12,149 all-purpose yards in only three seasons.

But when Winston was 18 years old, he was a part of a major incident in 2013 that left but a teeny tiny scratch on his record, an incident that cost FSU nearly $1 million in eventual settlements — a rape charge.

A charge that has largely been forgotten, especially by a dedicated fan base.

As the #MeToo movement continues to empower victims of abuse, many powerful but abusive men are losing their jobs over allegations, charges and court proceedings. But in a male-dominated industry like sports, where the voices of men heavily overpower those of women, it is harder to hear to the victims. Especially in college sports.

Fellow student Erica Kinsman filed the Title IX assault report, which the university and athletic department promptly and quietly dismissed. Kinsman alleged Winston raped her on the bathroom floor of his apartment in December of 2012 after meeting the star freshman quarterback at a bar.

Kinsman did everything right after the horrific incident. She went to the hospital for treatment and received a rape kit — which, months later, did conclude Winston had intercourse with her — and filed a police report.

The police did nothing for 10 months, and when Kinsman expressed her concerns, she was met with skepticism and shoulder-shrugging.

Sadly, this is a familiar story for many women in the United States who are victims of sexual assault.

On top of it all, what happened to Winston’s career was egregious — it got better.

At the school’s eventual code of conduct hearing in 2016, days before the college football playoffs, Winston was cleared of any wrongdoing and allowed to play for the Seminoles.

This incident is not isolated. Last summer, Stanford swimmer Brock Turner was discovered brutally raping an unconscious woman in a back alley. He was found guilty, but was only sentenced to jail for a mere six months. The judge felt that giving the young scholarship athlete a longer sentence would have a “severe impact” on Turner, and his life would suffer severe “collateral consequences.”

Of course, these examples of abuse toward women are not exclusive to the collegiate level. According to data compiled by USA Today, about 12 percent of arrests of NFL players since 2000 have been for domestic violence.

The NFL has been taking steps to punish players who are accused of violence against women.

If an athlete is accused of or charged with violence against women, the player will be penalized without pay. According to the NFL personal conduct policy, put into place in 2014, “violations involving assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault will result in a baseline six-game suspension without pay, with more if aggravating factors are present, such as the use of a weapon or a crime against a child.”

“Domestic violence and sexual assault are wrong. They are illegal,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wrote in a letter to team owners that announced the new policy. “They have no place in the NFL and are unacceptable in any way, under any circumstances.”

But in college sports, no such policy exists. And on a collegiate level — athlete or not — the numbers aren’t good to begin with. A little more than 23 percent of female undergraduate college students are sexually assaulted. Of those, only 12 percent will report, according to the National Criminal Justice Reference Service.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association released a new sexual assault policy in 2017, but it was hardly comprehensive. The policy iterated multiple times that student athletes and coaches must attend yearly training on sexual violence prevention and that administrators must be held accountable for these sessions.

There was no mention of punishment in the press release, and there is no previous policy that contains it, either.

As students held to a higher standard on campus, student athletes should be treated with more scrutiny when it comes to sexual violence, not less. As more women say #MeToo to being victims of sexual assault, collegiate athletic departments should consider adjusting their policies accordingly.

After Winston was accused of sexual assault, he went on to win the 2013 Heisman Trophy, an award that honors a player “whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity.”

Meanwhile, his victim was still receiving death threats from peers and football fans who claimed she was attempting to ruin his career. Kinsman was forced to drop out of FSU — a school the Tallahassee native had dreamt of attending since she was a child.

World Wrestling Entertainment has returned to iOS and Android with WWE Mayhem, a new arcade-style fighting game featuring dozens of current and former WWE Superstars. The game includes single and multiplayer offerings, including a multi-season campaign, and it’s easily one of the best mobile WWE titles yet. But getting your own roster up to speed can be a little difficult for new players, particularly if you’re averse to microtransactions.

We’ve split our WWE Mayhem tips into two categories: advice that will help you in the ring and advice for the moments between fights. And we’re hoping fellow Mayhem players will drop by the comments to share the tips they’ve picked up on their quest for the WWE title. You won’t find any PvP-specific advice here — we’re mostly trying to help new players get a foothold — but some of the advice shared below might benefit you in Mayhem’s competitive environment too.

WWE Mayhem Tips – In The Ring

Guard Early, Guard Often

From what we can tell, guarding is hilariously overpowered in WWE Mayhem. Players don’t have to manage an associated stamina meter, perform additional gestures to block special attacks or worry about a time limit. You’ll take a small bit of damage from blocked attacks. But guarding until you block a charged, heavy or special attack, which briefly stuns your opponent, and then responding with a quick three-hit combination seems to be the most effective strategy during the early seasons. It’s not the flashiest fighting style. But it’ll save you a bunch of money on health kits and revives.

Combo-Focused Offense

Your entire offense should be built around a pair of three-swing combinations: A heavy attack followed by two quick attacks or a pair of quick attacks leading into a heavy. Swipe, Tap, Tap or Tap, Tap, Swipe. The former is especially useful because the heavy attack will automatically be replaced by a dash forward if your opponent is trying to put distance between you. The latter is an effective tool for interrupting incoming attacks.

Charge After Parries

Parrying can be difficult in WWE Mayhem. But anyone who gets good at timing their blocks to incoming attacks will find themselves with numerous opportunities to fire off a Charged attack. The brief stuns that follow normal blocks don’t always give you enough time to channel each wrestlers penultimate offensive maneuver; however, the stun after a successful parry gives you more time to make use of those techniques.

Reversals > Specials

It doesn’t take long to figure out opponents can reverse specials too. Keep an eye on your opponent’s special meter, and let its current status dictate your willingness to use special attacks. If your opponent is stunned and hismeter is low — ideally, so low you know reversals are off the table — then let himfeel the wrath of a Phenomenal Forearm or the Tombstone Piledriver. But if your foe’s special meter is full, wait a special attack and then use your banked power for a reversal and the win.

Use Specials After Stuns

If you do have more stored special power than an opponent, it’s still important to know when to use it. Having a special attack interrupted will cost you however much power you spent on the technique and also gives your opponent an energy boost. We recommend deploying special attacks after stunning an opponent. Stuns happen after you block a Charged, Heavy or Special attack. Wrestlers are also stunned by any strike that depletes the last of their health. We should also note that specials used during a Low Health Stun can’t be countered by most wrestlers.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Each class of wrestler is stronger (and weaker) against another class. These strengths and weaknesses can sometimes create bigger level disparities than the natural abilities of your roster. Here’s a breakdown of the pseudo-rock-paper-scissors system:

  • Technician beats Powerhouse

  • Brawler beats Wildcard

  • Showman beats Brawler

  • Powerhouse (Weights) beats High Flyer

  • High Flyer beats Showman

  • Wildcard beats Technician

WWE Mayhem Tips – Outside The Ring

Claim All Your Freebies

You get a free loot case every day featuring a randomly-selected wrestler or upgrade item. A second case can be opened every four hours to reveal a randomly-selected health or stat boost. Both can be claimed from the Loot tab. There’s also a daily login bonus that becomes more valuable if you log in multiple days in a row. Don’t let the freebies go unclaimed because they’ll help build your roster faster, especially if you don’t want to spend money on microtransactions.

Spend Resources Wisely

You’ll have to upgrade some one-star wrestlers on your roster a few times. We recommend cutting them off when they start requiring class-specific leveling materials. All your specialized leveling items should be saved for your two, three and four-star performers. You may eventually have to start upgrading some of your one-stars to continue progressing through the story. But don’t start investing in them until you know it’s a necessity AND you have one-star wrestlers you want to invest in. Star rankings impact the scalability of the fighter’s stats, meaning those with more stars will be useful for longer stretches. They’ll all need upgrades eventually but higher ranked performers will remain viable much later in the story.  And try to limit your resources investments to one wrestler from each class. You’re already going to spend most of your time with WWE Mayhem struggling to acquire the proper leveling items. No point in ensuring two of your main guys are always competing for specialized resources.

Don’t Quit After A Title Fight

Players receive bonus rewards for any match they win in the first 15 minutes after winning or defending a championship belt. That’s usually enough time to tack the bonus onto at least three to five fight purses, depending on the strength of your wrestlers. And each fight you win during that 15-minute span will include extra rewards, usually in the form of cash or leveling materials, that will help improve your roster.

Use Events To Prep For Tough Seasons

A variety of time-sensitive scenarios are available via WWE Mayhem’s Events screen and we recommend using each as strategically as possible. There are going to be moments when your team doesn’t quite stack up to the next season’s competition, or you’d have to drop to a lower difficulty setting than you’re interested in, and these are the perfect moments to go complete an event. Each bestows a plethora of rewards, from leveling items to loot cases and title bonuses, potentially bridging the gap between your squad and the next wave of competitors. Some events are also repeatable, making it easier to farm for the items needed to upgrade star rankings.
