Former NFL player Kellen Winslow II was arrested Thursday by San Diego County police for numerous sex crimes, including kidnapping, rape, sodomy and indecent exposure. Authorities have yet to offer details of the incident that led to the arrest, but Winslow, who was booked into a detention facility in Vista, California, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday.

A representative of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department told The Post that one of the charges was related to an arrest last week of Winslow, 34. That charge, residential burglary, stemmed from a complaint by a resident of a mobile home park in Encinitas, California, and the former tight end’s representatives denied any wrongdoing.

Winslow’s arrest Thursday was on an outstanding warrant, on charges related to “other incidents” apart from the mobile home park episode. Those charges included:

  • Two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit rape
  • Two counts of forcible rape
  • One count of forcible sodomy
  • One count of forcible oral copulation
  • One count of indecent exposure
  • One count of residential burglary

Authorities also said that, at the same time as Winslow’s arrest, a search warrant was executed at his residence. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Winslow had been scheduled to be arraigned Thursday for an incident June 7 in which police said the resident “indicated a black male adult had walked into a neighbor’s residence.” After being “confronted,” the male drove away in a black SUV that matched Winslow’s car, and he was “positively identified” by the resident, then placed under arrest.

That resident said to San Diego’s KGTV that after she saw Winslow emerge from her neighbor’s home and asked him if she could help with anything, he replied, “Nope, just looking for my dog.” She said that when she asked about the dog, he said, “Well, it’s a red dog, Clifford.”

Winslow was booked into the Vista facility but was released the following day after posting $50,000 bail. His representatives said he was shopping for his mother-in-law, and that the residence he entered belonged to friends who attended church with his wife (via NBC News).

A spokeswoman for Winslow described that arrest as being the result of an “overreactive neighbor,” and that he was being “sarcastic” in his responses about looking for his dog. As of this writing, the spokeswoman had yet to respond to a request from The Post for comment on Thursday’s arrest.

An attorney for Winslow said last week that, regarding the mobile home incident, his client “emphatically denies committing any burglary. He would have no need to burglarize or steal anything from anyone at a trailer park.” He added that the former tight end “looks forward to being vindicated” in court.

The son of Kellen Winslow, a Hall of Fame tight end for the Chargers, Winslow II grew up in San Diego before playing at the University of Miami. He was drafted sixth overall by the Browns in 2004, and he spent five seasons in Cleveland, with a 2007 Pro Bowl selection, before moving on to stints with the Buccaneers, Patriots and Jets.

Winslow’s final season was in 2013, and in November of that year, while a member of the Jets, he was arrested in New Jersey for possession of synthetic marijuana. In that incident, police were called to the parking lot of a Target store after a woman claimed she saw him masturbating while in his car.

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) – Former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow II, the son of San Diego Chargers legend Kellen Winslow, was re-arrested Thursday by sheriff’s deputies and is expected to be arraigned in Vista on Friday.

Winslow is expected to be charged with: two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit rape, two counts of forcible rape, one count of forcible sodomy, one count of forcible oral copulation, two counts of residential burglary and one count of indecent exposure.

Winslow II, 34, was initially arrested last Thursday in Encinitas on suspicion of burglarizing a residence at the Park Encinitas Mobile Home Park.

Sheriff’s officials said Winslow II was spotted about 2:40 p.m. walking into a residence at the park in the 400 block of North El Camino Real by a neighbor who lived nearby.

The neighbor confronted Winslow because he did not recognize him as being a resident who lived there, said sheriff’s Lt. Karen Stubkjaer.

Winslow left the scene in a black SUV and deputies spotted him a short distance from the park and he was taken into custody, the lieutenant said.

Winslow posted $50,000 bail and was scheduled to return to court today, but a warrant was issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody again.

His arraignment is anticipated in Vista on Friday. Charges will be announced at that time, said Steve Walker of the District Attorney’s Office.

ENCINITAS, Calif. — Former NFL tight end and Scripps Ranch High School alum Kellen Winslow II was arrested on a series of sex crime charges on Thursday, one week after his arrest in Encinitas on suspicion of residential burglary.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department announced Winslow would be charged with kidnapping with intent to commit rape, forcible rape, forcible sodomy, forcible oral copulation, indecent exposure and residential burglary.

Winslow had been scheduled for an arraignment Thursday afternoon, but the procedure was postponed. A short time later, the DA’s office announced that a warrant had been issued for Winslow earlier that morning, and that he was taken into custody by Sheriff’s deputies by afternoon. The DA’s release stated the former player would be arraigned Friday in Vista.

FOX 5 has reached out to the San Diego County Sheriff’s office and the District Attorney’s office for more information.

Winslow is the son of former Chargers great and Pro Football Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on June 7, deputies responded to a report of a possible residential burglary at the Park Encinitas Mobile Home Park in the 400 block of N. El Camino Real, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. The caller, who said a man had walked into a neighbor’s home, confronted him because he did not recognize him as the resident. The man then got into a black SUV and drove away.

Deputies checked the area and found the matching vehicle nearby. They positively identified the driver as the person who had been in the home. The driver, later identified as Kellen Winslow II, 34, was placed under arrest on suspicion of residential burglary and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

Winslow posted bail Friday morning. His attorney, Harvey A. Steinberg, released a statement later that afternoon saying that the former player “emphatically denies committing any burglary.”

He would have no need to “steal anything from anyone at a trailer park,” Steinberg continued. “He looks forward to being vindicated once this matter is fully investigated.”

FOX 5 also spoke with Winslow’s representative, Denise White with EAG Sports Management. White said Winslow was at the mobile home park looking for a home for his mother-in-law. She said he never went inside the home or took anything, and that Winslow is friends with the homeowners and attends church with them.

Winslow was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the sixth pick in the 2004 NFL Draft and played 10 seasons for five teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and New York Jets. He concluded his playing career in 2013.

We will update this developing story as we learn more.

USATSI

Former NFL player Kellen Winslow II was charged with one count of residential burglary on Thursday after an incident at a mobile home park just north of San Diego.

According to the police report, officers were called to the mobile home park around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday after a witness noticed a black male walk into a trailer home that didn’t belong to him. The mobile home park serves mostly seniors, which is why the neighbor became suspicious. After being confronted by the neighbor, the black male, who was later identified as Winslow, got into his SUV and left the scene.

According to ABC in San Diego, the woman who contacted police became suspicious of Winslow for multiple reasons. Apparently, Winslow was shirtless and told the neighbor he was looking for his big, red dog named Clifford, after the neighbor asked him what was he was doing.

“I confronted him and said ‘Hi, can I help you with anything’,” the woman said of her encounter with Winslow. “He said, ‘Nope, just looking for my dog.’ I go, ‘What dog?’ and he said, ‘Well, it’s a red dog, Clifford.’ and I went, ‘There’s no dog here.’ I said, I’m not comfortable with this, you need to leave. And he just stood there and he went, ‘Alright then.”http://www.badsporters.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/ex-pro-bowler-kellen-winslow-ii-charged-with-felony-after-arrest-in-mobile-home-park.com”

The witness also noted that there was a elderly woman in the mobile home that Winslow entered. However, the woman in the mobile home, who didn’t know Winslow, apparently didn’t even realize that he was there.

Police eventually tracked Winslow down and arrested him. According to NBC San Diego, Winslow spent roughly five hours in jail before he was able to post his $50,000 bond. The one felony count of first-degree burglary is punishable by up to six years in prison.

This isn’t the first time that Winslow has run into trouble with the law. Back in November 2013, the former Jets tight end was accused of masturbating in a Target parking lot during an incident where he was eventually charged possession of a controlled dangerous substance

Winslow hasn’t played in the NFL since 2013 when he caught 31 passes for the Jets. Although Winslow spent 10 seasons in the NFL, the 34-year-old never lived up to the hype that came with being the sixth overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. Winslow’s biggest season came in 2007, when earned a Pro Bowl berth with the Browns after catching 82 passes for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns.

During his 10-year career, Winslow played for the Browns (2004-08), Buccaneers (2009-11), Patriots (2012) and Jets (2013). Winslow is the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow, who spent nine seasons with the Chargers before retiring in 1987.
