Former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Antonio Morrison has been charged with attacking a security guard and a deputy while detained at a hospital in Indianapolis, authorities said.

Morrison, a fourth-round pick by the Colts in the 2016 NFL Draft, was charged on Tuesday in a May 14 attack at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis, where he was housed in a behavioral health wing after supposedly threatening a neighbor he was arguing with, according to a report by the Indianapolis Star.

Morrison was reportedly found banging on a nursing station door through Plexiglas, and he threatened to harm staffers and security officers at the hospital, per a probable cause affidavit.

Charles Bollinger, a responding Marion County deputy, could not get into the unit at first because Morrison held the door shut, but a second deputy and a security guard eventually made their way into the unit, per authorities.

Morrison than attacked deputy Kurt Meuris and hospital security guard James Blaydoe. The officer was reportedly punched in the head and mouth but managed to defend himself, the affidavit says. Morrison kept resisting orders to comply until Bollinger used a stun gun on him, and he was then handcuffed, the deputies said.

Former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Antonio Morrison is facing at least one felony charge stemming from a series of erratic disturbances in Carmel, according to court documents filed this week in Hamilton County.

Morrison, 25, was charged Monday with intimidation, court records show. No attorney has been listed for him as of Friday.

The Colts declined to comment on the case.

A probable cause affidavit obtained by IndyStar says Morrison allegedly accused a neighbor of “stepping into his space” on April 22, and made lewd comments to the man, such as “I am going to screw your wife,” Carmel police said in the affidavit.

The next day, on April 23, police responded to a verbal disturbance call from the same neighbor.. The man reportedly told officers that Morrison came to his front door, rang the doorbell and yelled “that he was going to kill” him.

The man said he felt in fear for his life, the affidavit, filed Monday, stated.

Court records show a warrant was issued Monday for Morrison’s arrest.

On Wednesday, Carmel Police filed a second affidavit seeking to seize a firearm owned by Morrison, according to a copy of the document.

The affidavit says Morrison presents “an imminent risk of personal injury to (himself) or to another individual.”

That affidavit cites the April incidents, but it also details two other incidents from the month of May.

On May 1, Carmel Police Officer Jerek Murphy said Morrison approached another neighbor and threatened him, telling him to “get inside your condo (expletive),” the document said.

The neighbor did not want to press charges, police said in the affidavit, but said that Morrison’s behavior has become “increasingly erratic and aggressive.”

This past Sunday, May 10, officers and the Carmel Fire Department responded to a fire call at a condominium.

Before authorities entered the building, Morrison came to the main floor window and said he had burnt some food and had it all under control, according to the affidavit. Morrison, though, refused to come outside when he was told to, the document said.

A shotgun was seen by the entry door to the apartment.

Carmel Police Detective Chad Amos found that Morrison has an approved gun permit with validation dates of Oct. 25, 2016 through Oct. 25, 2020, according to the affidavit.

But he also found that Morrison was denied by the National Instant Criminal Background Check System from possessing a firearm on March 9, 2020, according to the document.

In addition to the Carmel charge, jail records show that Morrison was arrested Thursday in Indianapolis and remains held in Marion County Jail on preliminary charges of battery and battery against a public safety official. Court records show he has not been formally charged.

A report provided to IndyStar from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says Morrison committed battery on a security officer. Additional details weren’t provided, but the office told IndyStar that the incident happened at Community Hospital North.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the Carmel and Indianapolis incidents are related.

Morrison has two upcoming court dates stemming from the incidents. The first, on May 18, is to address the preliminary battery charges. The second, on June 11, is a hearing to address the firearms seizure.

Morrison was a fourth-round draft pick by the Colts in 2016 and was traded to the Green Bay Packers in 2018. The team released him in 2019, after one season.

The owner of a Indianapolis strip club is accused of attacking Indianapolis councilman Jeff Miller during a public meeting Monday in an act of retaliation over Miller’s yearslong opposition to the bar’s liquor license.

Police say Jeffery Moe, 51, grabbed Miller by the throat with both hands, picked him up and slammed his head against a wall. Moe later told police he “cleaned (Miller’s) clock and I’ll do it again,” according to court documents filed Tuesday.

But Moe, a former Iowa Hawkeyes basketball player in the 1980s who faces two felony and two misdemeanor charges, disputes how the attack was characterized by police. Moe told IndyStar he grabbed Miller’s collar and shook him.

“I did not grab his neck. I shook him,” Moe, who owns Lenny’s Gentlemen’s Club, told IndyStar. “I was not intending to injure Mr. Miller. I was meaning to tell him to stop being a pompous politician.”

Moe played in 131 games for the Hawkeyes between 1984 and 1988. He averaged 9.5 points per game and made 131 3-point baskets. His 1,248 points career points ranks 21st on Iowa’s all-time scoring list.

He was a second-round pick by the Utah Jazz in the 1988 NBA Draft but never played in a regular season game.

The alleged attack occurred during an Alcoholic Beverage Board of Marion County meeting around 10:30 a.m., court documents say.

After the altercation, Miller told police that his breathing was restricted. His glasses were also broken.

Investigators found scratch marks and redness along Miller’s neck, according to court documents.

Jeff Moe had his most-newsworthy week in his Indiana home state since he tormented the Indiana Hoosiers as a University of Iowa basketball player.

Moe, an Indianapolis strip club owner and real estate developer, was arrested Monday morning in Indianapolis. He is accused of attacking Marion County/Indianapolis City County Council member Jeff Miller during a public meeting of the Alcoholic Beverage Board of Marion County.

Police say Moe grabbed miller by the throat, and slammed his head against a wall. Moe said he didn’t grab Miller’s neck. He was charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors.

“I grabbed his shirt and shook him,” was what Moe said he did when he was interviewed Wednesday on Indianapolis’ Fox Sports 975 radio station.

“I shook him for five or six seconds.”

Investigators found scratch marks and redness along Miller’s neck, according to court documents. The documents state Moe pushed Miller against a marble wall, and Miller’s head struck the wall twice. Miller was examined by medics on the scene, and released.

Moe spent the rest of Monday in jail before posting a $7,500 surety bond. He faces charges of criminal confinement, strangulation, battery resulting in bodily harm and disorderly conduct.

Moe was at the meeting to support Indianapolis business Liquor Barn, saying Miller was trying to steal the liquor license for its Meridian Street location. Miller testified against the renewal of the liquor license of Moe’s Indianapolis business, Lenny’s Gentlemen’s Club.

“I went down (to the meeting) to say we live in America. Mr. Miller, quit stealing people’s liquor licenses.”

Moe played at Iowa from 1984-88, scoring 1,248 points. He had 24 points and five assists as a senior in the Hawkeyes’ 104-86 win over UNLV in the second round of the NCAA tournament’s West Regional, a small bit of revenge for Iowa’s loss to the Runnin’ Rebels in the West final the year before.

Moe was recruited out of Indianapolis to Iowa by then-coach George Raveling and flourished under Tom Davis. Moe averaged 11.1 and 12.9 points per game in his junior and senior seasons with Davis as coach. He had some of his biggest games against Indiana.

“It was so long ago,” said Moe, 51. “I did like playing against Indiana. I had two decent games with 25 points and maybe 18. Thirty-five years (30, actually) later, people will tell me ‘Man, you lit us up for 45 points every time.’

“But the one game in ’87 when we broke 100, that was pretty special.”

That was Iowa’s 101-88 win over the then-No. 3 Hoosiers in Iowa City. It was the first time in 466 games a Bob Knight-coached team had allowed 100 points.

“I liked Bobby Knight growing up,” Moe said. “Obviously, his form of discipline did not last past the year 2000. Society has changed.”

In his radio interview, Moe was unapologetic. “I didn’t hurt (Miller).

“If he apologizes for … fraudulently trying to steal my liquor license, I’ll gladly apologize for ruffling his feathers.”

In an unrelated matter, last November Miller was charged with three counts of child-molestation. His pretrial hearing is later this month.

Moe’s club, meanwhile, has “been Lenny’s for 45 years,” Moe told Fox Radio show Query & Schultz. “Ninety-five percent of my work is in commercial real estate.”

Moe said the strip club “sort of fell in my lap” in 2012 as he was purchasing real estate in the area.

He called his Marion County Sheriff’s Office mug shot “horrible.”

“I’ve got to start working out. Owning a strip club, I spend an hour, and hour-and-a-half there. Usually I’ll run into somebody and have a couple beers. Yeah, it’s time I hit the gym.”

Suspect in Crash that Killed Indianapolis Colts Player, Uber Driver Formally Charged

Updated February 7, 2018 10:46 AM | Filed under: Crime

(INDIANAPOLIS) – The man accused of killing a Colts player and an Uber driver during a drunk-driving crash this weekend faces multiple charges in connection with the case.

According to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Manuel Orrego-Zavala was charged with two counts of failure to remain at the scene of an accident and two counts of causing death when operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .15 or more.

Prosecutors said Orrego-Zavala, an undocumented immigrant who has been deported from the U.S. twice, crashed his truck on I-70 near Holt Road early Sunday morning. The driver, Jeffrey Monroe, and passenger, Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson, were standing outside their vehicle when Orrego-Zavalas’ truck hit them.

A test showed his blood-alcohol content was nearly three times Indiana’s legal limit of .08.

Investigators said Orrego-Zavala, who was in the country illegally, left the scene. An Indiana State trooper later apprehended him. He appeared in court Wednesday for an initial hearing.

Orrego-Zavala also faces a federal immigration charge, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.
