The former baseball player is accused of assaulting one of his children in September 2019.

A Tarrant County grand jury has indicted former Texas Rangers player Josh Hamilton on a felony injury to a child charge.

Hamilton, 38, is accused of hitting and scratching his daughter in a September 2019 incident.

During the assault, he told his daughter to tell a judge “what a terrible dad I am” so that she would never have to go to his house again, according to Keller police records.

Hamilton has three children but court records show he is accused of assaulting his oldest.

When interviewed by Child Protective Services, his daughter told the interviewer that Hamilton started to assault and throw things at her after she made a comment that upset him, records show.

The former baseball player is accused of throwing a full water bottle that hit his daughter in the chest. Hamilton then pulled a chair from under his daughter and threw it at her, a warrant says.

Hamilton then allegedly took his daughter to a room, pinned her to a bed and repeatedly hit her on the back and legs, according to an arrest warrant.

Police records show Hamilton is 6-feet-4-inches and weighs 250 pounds.

Tarrant County court records show after the incident, Hamilton’s ex-wife, Katie Hamilton, filed for a temporary restraining order against him on behalf of her daughter.

(NEW YORK) — NBA player Chandler Parsons was in a potentially career-ending car accident, reportedly involving a driver who was under the influence, according to the law firm Morgan & Morgan.Chandler, who is a small forward with the Atlanta Hawks, was reportedly driving home from practice around 2 p.m. on Jan. 15 when his vehicle was struck. Parsons, according to his attorneys, “suffered multiple severe and permanent injuries including a traumatic brain injury, disc herniation and a torn labrum.”Parsons’ attorneys, John Morgan and Nick Panagakis, said his injuries could potentially end his nine-year NBA career.”Chandler is having a difficult time accepting the consequence of the defendant’s reckless conduct on the roadway,” his lawyers said in a statement to ABC News. The alleged suspect was not identified by the firm, but it said the driver was arrested and charged with a DUI. The driver who allegedly hit Parsons was unconscious at the wheel when police arrived, according to USA Today, citing an incident report. A 7-Up bottle filled with alcohol was reportedly found in the driver’s seat, the outlet reported. The Hawks, in a statement on the day of the incident, said Parsons was involved in an accident after practice. The team said he was diagnosed with a concussion and whiplash and that he would enter the NBA’s concussion protocol. They announced Monday he was out of their next game with “concussion/whiplash/associated disc injury.”The team has not disclosed any further details about his injuries or the crash.”Chandler was in peak physical condition at the time of the wreck,” Parsons’ legal team said in a statement. “He is now working with a team of doctors to regain his health, and at this time, his ability to return to play is unclear. Our focus right now is on helping him make a full recovery, while we also work to hold any and all responsible parties fully accountable.”Parsons is on the last year of a four-year, $94 million contract. He was traded from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Hawks prior to the start of the 2019-2020 NBA season. The forward was selected by the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft. HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A Texas A&M women’s basketball player and her twin sister were arrested in May on charges of injury to an elderly person.

According to Harris County court records, Caylinne Martin and her sister Corinne allegedly caused bodily injury to a man over 65 years old by striking him during an incident late last year.

Caylinne Martin has been suspended indefinitely from the women’s basketball team. Corinne Martin once served as the team’s manager, but is set to graduate in August and is no longer with the TAMU Athletic Department.

HOUSTON (WPVI) —

Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro defensive end Michael Bennett surrendered to authorities in Houston on a charge that he injured a paraplegic woman as he tried to get onto the field after last year’s Super Bowl to celebrate with his brother.

Bennett made a brief court appearance Monday where the judge set his bond at $10,000 on a felony count of injury to the elderly. He is now is free on bond.

After the hearing his attorney, Rusty Hardin, said neither the district attorney nor the police have the whole story.

“If you look at this guy’s career, personality, his family, he would never assault an elderly person, a disabled person,” Hardin said.

A release from the district attorney’s office states that Bennett was a spectator and in Houston to watch his brother, then a player for the New England Patriots, on Feb. 5, 2017. After the game, Bennett allegedly shoved his way onto the field, where players were gathering to celebrate, according to the DA’s office.
NRG security personnel, including a 66-year-old paraplegic woman, told Bennett he had to use a different entrance for field access, but the defensive end pushed through them, including the woman.

Speaking at a news conference Friday, Houston Police chief Art Acevedo said Bennett allegedly told the people he had pushed, “You all must know who I am, and I can own this (expletive). I’m going down to the field, whether you like it or not.”

The woman suffered a sprained shoulder, according to Acevedo.

The injury to the elderly charge includes intentionally and knowingly causing bodily injury to a person 65 years or older and carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

“Mr. Bennett might think that he’s an NFL player, and at that time and place, he thinks he doesn’t have to answer to police officer. I’m proud of the fact our department took the time to investigate this thoroughly,” Acevedo said.
Acevedo said a detective did not actively start working the case until September because the police department had prioritized more serious cases. There is no video of the alleged incident, according to Acevedo.

The Eagles said they are aware of the situation and gathering more information. A spokesman for the NFL said the league is looking into the matter.

Bennett was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Eagles along with a seventh-round pick on March 14 for a fifth-round pick and wide receiver Marcus Johnson.

Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman, speaking at the NFL owners meeting in Orlando, Florida, said the team did not find out about the alleged incident until Friday, when the indictment was announced.

Roseman expressed full trust in the Seahawks organization and general manager John Schneider, dismissing any notion that Seattle might have withheld information, and said it was important to let the legal process play out.

“I think we’re in a great country, and in this country, people are presumed innocent, and I think we have to be fair about that in all these matters,” Roseman said. “I don’t think it’s fair in any situation to not give people the right to present their side. I don’t want to get into this, but our overriding philosophy on things are people are innocent until proven guilty.”

Roseman stressed that the Eagles do thorough background work on players before bringing them in, a process that includes talking to current members of the team about their experiences with that player. The feedback they received on Bennett, Roseman said, was positive.

“What we found out is that he is a good teammate. They like playing with him,” Roseman said. “Some of our players have been with him in the Pro Bowl; some of our players had trained with him, and we rely on information like that. Obviously, he came to our facility and we had a chance to sit down with him and talk to him.”

Roseman said the team has been in contact with Bennett since the alleged incident came to light.

One of the five Wheaton College football players charged with hazing-related felonies is expected to plead to charges in the case Thursday, according to the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office and court records.

Noah R. Spielman, 21, of Columbus, Ohio, is expected to enter a plea, Paul Darrah, a spokesman for State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, said Wednesday. Darrah, however, declined to discuss details of the plea, which is scheduled to be outlined at a hearing before Judge Brian Telander.

Spielman had previously pleaded not guilty.

Spielman’s attorney, Mark Sutter, was not immediately available for comment.

Spielman, along with four other players, was charged last fall with aggravated battery, mob action and unlawful restraint on allegations they injured another Wheaton player during a hazing incident on March 16, 2016.

Authorities say the five players entered the other player’s dorm room and struck him when he resisted. The players placed a pillowcase over his head and bound his arms with duct tape before driving him in a pickup to a nearby baseball field and leaving him there partially clothed, authorities said.

The player, who has identified himself as Indiana resident Charles Nagy, allegedly suffered shoulder injuries from being bound and later required surgery. He withdrew from the school in the days after the alleged incident.

Last week, Nagy filed a lawsuit against Wheaton College and seven players. However, Spielman, who is the son of former NFL linebacker Chris Spielman, is not among the players named in the suit. The civil complaint does name three other players who were not charged criminally.

According to the suit, freshman players commonly faced hazing with the knowledge of the school and the team’s coach.

The case against another of the players was in court Wednesday. In that case, the judge approved requests from attorneys representing Kyler Kregel to subpoena records and witnesses from a dozen organizations and people with connections to Nagy.
