Police have found a firearm and a knife away from the home, she said.

“I cannot confirm we have the murder weapon at this stage,” Superintendent Scholz said.

Two women, aged 34 and 43, were also in the home at the time.

The younger woman had some minor injuries and was treated at the scene, Superintendent Scholz said. Two individuals apparently left the property on foot while three men drove away in a vehicle.

A police helicopter, the riot squad and dog unit searched the area and arrested two male teenagers – aged 16 and 17.

Both were on Sunday charged with murder and have been refused bail.

They are due to appear before a children’s court on Monday.

Police are calling for anyone who may have seen anything and are also appealing for information about the identification and location of the three other men.

HE WAS FOUND SHOT TO DEATH INSIDE OF HIS HOME ON LAWTON STREET ON OCTOBER 6. THAT’S AFTER POLICE RECEIVED A REPORT OF A HOME INVASION. POLICE SAID A SURVEILLANCE CAMERA POSITIONED INSIDE OF THE HOME CAPTURED THE HOME INVASION AND THE MINUTES LEADING UP TO EVANS’ DEATH. A PORTION OF THAT VIDEO WAS PLAYED IN COURT TODAY. THE PROBATION OFFICER THAT SUPERVISED BOTH OF THEM SAID THEY WERE THE INDIVIDUALS IN THE VIDEO. I SPOKE TO BOTH DEFENSE ATTORNEYS FOLLOWING THE HEARING, WHO SAID THAT VIDEO MAY WORK IN THEIR FAVOR. >> I THINK THE TESTIMONY WAS EXTREMELY QUESTIONABLE. I THINK IT FAILS TO PROPERLY AND SUFFICIENTLY IDENTIFY WHO THE PEOPLE IN THE VICK YOU — IN THE VIDEO ARE. >> THEY MIGHT REPORT AS THOUGH THEY ARE DAMMING, BUT MULTIPLE PEOPLE — I DON’T THINK IT IS DAMAGING TO MY CLIENT. A former NBA player is accused of breaking into a house in Georgia, stealing $100,000 and beating up a teenager.

James Edward “J.J.” Hickson Jr., 29, was arrested and charged with home invasion, aggravated assault and armed robbery with a knife on June 15, according to WSB-TV in Atlanta.

He allegedly broke into the house in unincorporated Senoia around 10:30 a.m. through a side door with a knife, authorities said, stole the large sum of cash, and several other items and then left.

A neighbor named Mary Taylor told WSB-TV that she saw the 17-year-old victim run out of the house after the robbery, with a broken nose.

“When he told me what happened,” she said, “I was so nervous I couldn’t even punch in [911] in my phone.”

Authorities did not say why Hickson chose that particular house, which is 60 miles away from his own in Smyrna.

The targeted house is at the end of the street near a stop sign, and a neighbor told WSB-TV that they spotted the getaway car five hours before the robbery.

“They jumped in the car and took off real fast,” a witness told the station.

Authorities said they believe at least two people were involved in the robbery, but so far only Hickson has been charged.

He was booked into the Coweta County jail without a bond.

Hickson played high school ball in Marietta and college ball at NC State. He was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the 19th overall pick in the 2008 draft, according to ESPN.com. He made at least $27 million during his eight season career, and he played for the Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers and the Sacramento Kings.

Since his NBA career ended in the 2015-16 season, he’s been playing overseas, most recently in 2018 with the Champville team in the Lebanese Basketball League.

A former NBA player was arrested Friday night for stealing $100,000 in cash during a Georgia home invasion that left a teenage resident with a broken nose, police said.

James Edward “J.J.” Hickson Jr. — who was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008 – entered the residence located in Coweta County, through the side door and used a knife to attack the 17-year-old, police said, according to WSB-TV.

A law enforcement official told FOX 5 that “the victim was beat up pretty good.”

Hickson was charged with armed robbery in connection with a home invasion, the station reported. Authorities believe at least two other people were involved, however, as of Friday night Hickson is the only one currently facing charges.

Authorities said the former NBA player’s relationship to the victims was not immediately clear, WSB-TV reported.

The 29-year-old was a standout high school basketball before a successful eight-year NBA career that involved stints with the Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets and Washington Wizards, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Former NBA player J.J. Hickson was arrested Friday in connection to an armed robbery in Georgia, according to Fox 5 Atlanta, which described the incident as a “frightening home invasion.”

“The victim was beat up pretty good, and they took some personal items from the residence,” Captain John Kennedy of Coweta County Sheriff’s Office said. “And at that point in time through the help of a canvass we were able to identify a suspect and a suspect vehicle. We were able to identify a suspect from that.”

The report says two men were involved, but Hickson was the only one charged with armed robbery with a knife. He is being held without bond, according to AJC.com, citing jail records.

Hickson, 29, played 10 seasons in the NBA with five teams. He started his career in Cleveland with the Cavs and was best known for his time playing alongside LeBron James from 2008-10. He last played with the Wizards in 2015-16.

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – A 25-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were arrested early Sunday in an armed home invasion that sent a resident scurrying to his roof naked, the Winter Springs Police Department said.

Police were called shortly after 2 a.m. to a home on Keith Court near Sheoah Boulevard and West State Road 434 after a man called 911 to report there was an armed intruder in his home, Winter Springs police Capt. Chris Deisler said.

“When you say you saw somebody with a gun, where were they?” an emergency dispatcher said in a 911 call.

“In my (expletive) yard,” the resident said.

“In the backyard? OK. And did you see them go into the house, or no?” the dispatcher said.

“I’m on the roof. I’m on the (expletive) roof naked, dude,” the resident said.

Investigators said it took them two minutes to arrive at the home, where they discovered the resident on the roof.

“While the suspect was still inside with officers on scene, a gunshot was fired,” Deisler said. “Another rapid succession of gunshots was heard by other officers.”

Police said Garyan D. George got into a vehicle driven by Ashley L. Coston, who crashed at Sheoah Boulevard and Shepard Road.

After crashing, Coston and George were arrested on charges of home invasion robbery, investigators said. Coston was also charged with fleeing/eluding police.

Police said they believe the home invasion was a targeted, drug-related incident because they discovered drugs and money at the scene.

No one was injured.

The incident remains under investigation.

No other details were given.

Hickson was charged in connection with a home invasion that happened on Rowe Road in Senoia Friday night, Coweta sheriff spokesman Jimmy Yarbrough confirmed.

At least two people were involved in the home invasion, but only Hickson faces charges, Yarbrough said.

A number of personal items were allegedly taken and someone was attacked during the incident, Yarbrough said. Another department took Hickson into custody, and he was turned over to Coweta County afterward.
