A parent and a player were arrested on misdemeanor assault charges Friday night after a brawl during a high school soccer game between Lewisville and Hebron in Carrollton, police said.

Lewisville school district officials were looking into the incident on Saturday, district spokeswoman Amanda Brim said.

A video of the fight, which was posted by The Fan radio host Ben Rogers, appeared to show a brawl between several players on Hebron’s field in Carrollton at the end of the game.

A person who did not appear to be a player then ran into the scrum and threw a punch, and the brawl continued.

According to a news release from Carrollton Police, 18-year-old Diego Hernandez of Hebron High was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury.

The release goes on to say that the father of one of the Lewisville players, 43-year-old Daniel Aguilar Pierce, was also arrested and faces the same charge.

According to investigators, Hernandez hit Pierce’s son during the skirmish and then Pierce went on the field and hit Hernandez.

Pierce declined to comment to WFAA.

The behavior of the students and the fans was “clearly unacceptable,” Brim said. Hebron is also in the Lewisville school district.

Both men were booked into the Carrollton City Jail and were released on bond. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
