Probation has been ordered for two Utah State University football players who admitted to taking part in a pair of Logan burglaries in 2016.

Troy Murray and Jay Brown both pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of criminal trespassing and theft. They were accused of being involved in burglaries that took place in a Logan apartment complex, which included the theft of video game consoles and other electronic equipment.

Brown on Tuesday was sentenced in 1st District Court to 36 months probation, and 50 hours of community service. Judge Kevin Allen also ordered that he read a self-help book and write a 15-page report.

Judge Thomas Willmore in July sentenced Murray to 24 months probation, 13 days in jail and 40 hours of community service.

Two other football players, Kevin Meiztenheimer and Dayshawn Miller, were also charged in the aftermath of the burglaries. The two were accused of threatening a witness over the burglary investigation involving Murray and Brown.

They each pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of tampering with a witness and obstructing justice, but the pleas were held in abeyance. This means that if they complete all the court requirements, which included writing a letter of apology and completing communtiy services, their cases will be dismissed.

Meiztenheimer is the only player still listed on the official Utah State University football roster.
