LINCOLN, Neb. – Two former Husker football players who were officially charged with first-degree sexual assault on Wednesday appeared in court on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019, Lincoln Police said Andre Hunt was arrested for the offense of Aid/Abet 1st Degree Sexual Assault, and Katerian LeGrone was arrested for the offense of 1st Degree Sexual Assault. Both were redshirt freshman on the Nebraska Football teams and suspended indefinitely in August 2019.

Katerian LeGrone and Andre Hunt both appeared and were read their charges, and had their next court appearance scheduled for February 26 at 10 a.m.

LeGrone had his bond of ten percent of $50,000, which was originally paid on Dec. 12, continued.

For Hunt, his bond of ten percent of $100,000 was continued, as well.

The two former Husker football players were charged with first-degree sexual assault on Wednesday, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Lancaster County on December 11th, 2019.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim showed up to Hunt’s apartment on August 25. Soon, they were in the bedroom where the woman says she felt forced into sexual contact.

She says she didn’t say no because she felt uncomfortable and was fearful of what would happen.

According to the documents she had a blanket in front of her face, but LeGrone came in and they both had sex with her.

LeGrone’s attorney said the probable cause affidavit sounds bad, but that doesn’t mean it’s true.

“We have seen these types of cases before where the probable cause affidavit appears strong, but it’s just a prosecution document,” said John Berry. “At the end of the day, this is law enforcement’s narrative.”

Mallory Hughes, who is also representing LeGrone in this case, said the probable cause affidavit leaves things out.

“The probable cause affidavit discusses communication between the accuser and Mr. Hunt, and what I did not see is the contents of those communications and what would lead a 19-year-old girl to go to the house of a stranger and what her plans were once she got there,” Hughes said.

Lincoln Police are also investigating additional sexual assault reports made by other alleged victims. But LeGrone’s attorneys said no one should be quick to judge.

“What it comes down to is the Constitution of the United States, that protects Mr. LeGrone and protects each and every one of us, says he is innocent right now, and he will remain innocent until a jury of 12 people says otherwise and finds otherwise beyond a reasonable doubt,” Hughes said.

Both men were suspended in late August and dismissed from the team last month. Both are out on bond.

Logan Woodside’s brief time in Cincinnati is already off to a rocky start.

According to police records, the Bengals rookie quarterback was charged with DUI after being pulled over in Bellevue, Kentucky, on June 9. According to a police report obtained by the Cincinnati Enquirer, Woodside was pulled over around 3:45 a.m. when an officer witnessed the quarterback’s blue SUV speed through a parking lot.

After struggling through several sobriety tests, the officer had Woodside take a breathalyzer. The rookie ended up blowing a .112, which is well above Kentucky’s legal driving limit of .08. Woodside was also given a ticket for driving more than 10 mph over the speed limit.

More on the NFL

According to Fox 19, Woodside pleaded not guilty to both charges on Tuesday and has been given a second court date of July 10.

In a statement, the Bengals acknowledged that they’re aware of the situation.

“We are aware of the incident involving Logan Woodside and are gathering more information,” the team said.

Despite the arrest, Woodside was still allowed to participate in the team’s mandatory minicamp, which kicked off on Tuesday and runs through Thursday. If the Bengals hold on to him, Woodside will be in a stiff competition with Matt Barkley and Jeff Driskel for the team’s backup quarterback job.

The Bengals are looking to replace AJ McCarron, who signed with Buffalo earlier this year. All three potential backup quarterbacks have their downsides: Barkley was signed in March and isn’t very familiar with the Bengals offense.

As for Driskel, he’s coming off of multiple injuries, including a fractured hand suffered during the 2017 preseason and a broken arm suffered toward the end of the 2017 regular season. On Woodside’s end, the DUI charge probably isn’t going to win him any favors in the Bengals front office.

Woodside was one of the final picks made by any team in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Bengals selected the former Toledo quarterback in the seventh round with the 249th overall pick (there’s only 256 picks in the draft). Woodside was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2017 after throwing for 3,882 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Four Texas Tech football players, including potential starting QB Jett Duffey, were arrested early Sunday morning, according to Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office records found online.

The arrests were first reported by InsideTheRedRaiders.com’s Jarrett Johnson.

The players were all booked into the Lubbock County Jail, according to online records.

Duffey was booked at 4:15 a.m. and charged with criminal mischief.

Three other players –CB Desmon Smith, safety Christian Taylor and WR Quan Shorts — were also arrested on Sunday morning.

Taylor is the only other player with a charge listed (criminal mischief), but all three were booked early Sunday morning. Taylor was booked at 4:48 am, Shorts was booked at 5:08 a.m. and Smith was booked at 8:07 a.m., according to online records.

Texas Tech had an open scrimmage in Midland on Saturday.

Duffey, a Mansfield Legacy graduate and the 2015 SportsDayHS Offensive Player of the Year, has been competing with McLane Carter for the Texas Tech starting QB job. After redshirting his first season in Lubbock, Duffey was suspended by Texas Tech for the spring and summer of 2017 after a Title IX hearing panel sided with a woman who alleged that Duffey had sex with when she was too incapacitated to consent. A grand jury ultimately decided there was not enough cause to criminally prosecute the case.

Hunt was issued with a notice to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 29.

It’s not the first time the former NRL and AFL player has been in trouble for drug offences, after he was fined in March 2015 after pleading guilty to four counts of possessing cocaine.

Hunt was one of several professional footballers to be caught up in a Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission investigation into a cocaine trafficking ring operating in the state’s southeast.
