SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — A youth soccer coach from San Jose has been arrested for sending pictures of his genitals to a 16-year-old girl, police said Thursday.

San Jose Police said Hector Benjamin Joya Jimenez, a coach for for Liverpool Club International Academy Bay Area, was arrested on Wednesday by members of the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children/Child Exploitation Detail task force.

Joya was charged with sending harmful matter to a minor – a felony – and misdemeanor annoy or molest a child under 18 years old. San Jose police spokeswoman Ofc. Gina Tepoorten told CBS San Francisco the victim was not one of Joya’s players.

Police said last month Joya befriended the victim and started communicating with her via Snapchat, sending her unsolicited images of his genitals on several occasions.

On Wednesday detectives obtained an arrest warrant and took Joya into custody in San Jose. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

Joya was also a player with the Oakland Roots Sports Club, which plays in the National Independent Soccer Association, a third-tier professional league. In a statement, the club said, “Today, the Oakland Roots were disappointed to learn that midfielder Benji Joya was arrested in San Jose on Wednesday. Therefore, the Club has decided to release him.”

There was no immediate statement from Liverpool Club International Academy Bay Area on Joya’s arrest.

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested Sunday on charges of domestic violence and gun possession after an argument with his girlfriend got heated, according to reports.

Foster, a 23-year-old first-round pick in last year’s NFL draft, was arrested in Los Gatos in Santa Clara County, California, and is currently being held without bail, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

County jail records show the NFL player’s bail has been set at $75,000.

Foster also was arrested on suspicion of possessing an assault rifle, according to The Mercury News.

The 49ers organization said it was “aware” of reports of Foster’s arrest, and added: “We take matters of this nature seriously and are gathering all pertinent information.”

Sources told The Mercury News that officers were called to Foster’s home in Los Gatos for a domestic disturbance. A woman in a long-term relationship with Foster reportedly told police the two got into an argument.

Police discovered what appeared to be an assault rifle as they responded to the disturbance, according to the newspaper.

Foster’s arrest would be his second within a month. On Jan. 18, he was arrested and charged with second-degree possession of marijuana.

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The University Interscholastic League handed down its punishment on Tuesday morning for a Kerrville Tivy High School girls basketball player who shoved a South San High School player to the floor during a game in November.

An eight-person UIL state executive committee met in Round Rock and decided to suspend Tivy senior McKenzie Dil for two games and place her on probation for the rest of the season.

“The motion was for this young lady to be suspended for two district basketball games starting this Friday,” Mike Motheral, chair of the committee, said. “So it will be Friday and Tuesday. She also will be on probation, thus if she has anymore flagrant type fouls, she will be automatically suspended for the remainder of the school year and she will receive a reprimand.”

The video of Dil shoving South San sophomore Destiny Hillary spread across the Internet and social media after the game was played on Nov. 17 during a tournament.

Video showed Hillary fall onto the court and stumble back to the floor when she attempted to stand up. A doctor confirmed Hillary had suffered a concussion with whiplash. At the time, Dil was benched for the remainder of the tournament.

However, South San superintendent Dr. Abelardo Saavedra requested the meeting be moved up immediately.

Hilliary filed a report with the San Antonio Police Department and said she plans on pursuing assault charges, but Dil has not been charged in the case.

District Attorney Nico LaHood said he is aware of the case but cannot comment because it’s still an open investigation.

KSAT reached out to Kerrville Tivy High School after the incident occurred, but did not receive an immediate comment.

SAN ANTONIO – A request from a local superintendent has pushed up a highly anticipated University Interscholastic League meeting.

Case between South San-Kerrville girls players headed to UIL executive committee

The meeting will determine whether a Kerville Tivy girl’s basketball player will be punished for shoving a South San player, which caused the player to suffer a concussion.

The incident occurred Nov. 17 during a tournament at South San. A fan captured the incident on camera.

The short video has now gone viral. It shows Kerrville Tivy senior McKenzie Dil shoving South San sophomore Destiny Hilliary. The video shows Hilliary falling, trying to get up and stumbling around.

A doctor soon confirmed she had a concussion with whiplash.

“It’s been difficult. Just concerning first of all, making sure she was alright and, now that she’s playing again, it’s still kind of worrisome,” said Destiny’s mother, Lupita Hilliary.

Hillary said it’s just as difficult seeing Dil continue to play during regular-season games. She was benched only for the remainder of the tournament in November.

“We just feel that it was unfair,” Lupita Hillary said.

The UIL’s State Executive Committee was originally set to meet about possible discipline on Jan. 24, which is near the end of the girl’s basketball season. However, South San Superintendent Dr. Abelardo Saavedra stepped in, requesting the meeting be moved up immediately.

A press release posted Monday showed the meeting will now take place Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Austin Marriott North in Round Rock, “to discuss alleged rule violations.”

The schedule of Tuesday’s meeting simply says, “Kerrville Tivy High School: Referral from District 26-5A Executive Committee for Consideration of Penalties for Violations of Section 50(a)(3), Student Violations.”

“Our district has handled this very well,” Lupita said. “We’ve had support from day one from the superintendent, from the principal, from our coach.”

That support is especially meaningful for Destiny, who has always aspired to play college basketball. Her love for the game has drawn her back onto the court.

“She had lost her starting position, of course. The couple (of) minutes she did play, I feel like she may have been playing a little hesitant or fearful of getting injured again,” Lupita Hillary said.

She wants the UIL to set a precedent in Tuesday’s meeting.

“I just hope that no one gets injured in this manner again,” she said.
