(AP) A Lebanese American businessman who was a key witness in special counsel Robert Mueller’s report and who helped broker the release of American hostages was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison sentence on child sex charges.

George Nader pleaded guilty in January to bringing a 14-year-old boy from the Czech Republic to the U.S. 20 years ago to engage in sexual activity. He also acknowledged possessing child pornography.

Nader’s name appears more than 100 times in the Mueller report. It details Nader’s efforts to serve as liaison between Russians and members of President Donald Trump’s transition team.

In the 1990s, Nader served as a broker to facilitate the release of American hostages held in the Middle East.

The convictions carried a 10-year mandatory minimum. The judge could have imposed a longer term, though prosecutors also recommended a 10-year sentence.

Nader also agreed to pay $150,000 in restitution to the Czech boy he abused, who is now an adult and testified at Friday’s sentencing hearing in U.S. District Court in Alexandria by phone.

“George destroyed practically my entire life, and I am trying to put it back together piece by piece,” he said through a translator.

Nader’s interest in children and his status as a behind-the-scenes power player both extend back decades. And there’s at least some indication that the latter shielded him from the consequences of the former.

Almost 30 years ago, Nader was caught by customs officials transporting two films, hidden in candy tins, of minor boys into the U.S. He received a six-month sentence, a term that prosecutors in the current case acknowledge is “far below what would be expected of such a crime today.”

In 1991, as he awaited sentencing, his case was twice delayed so he could continue his work on hostage negotiations. Court records cited by his current defense lawyers indicate that British hostage Jon McCarthy and American hostage Edward Tracy were released in July of that year and that Nader played an outsized role in securing the release. Participants in the negotiations wrote letters to the judge on Nader’s behalf.

Later, in 2003, Nader sentenced to a 1-year prison term in the Czech Republic after being convicted there on 10 counts of sexually abusing minors and sentenced to a one-year prison term in 2003.

Prosecutors say the abused boys were largely child prostitutes. The 14-year-old boy brought to the U.S. also alleged he was victimized by Nader int he Czech case, though Nader’s lawyers say he wasn’t convicted there. The two sides dispute the extent of abuse inflicted on the boy in the U.S. but Nader has admitted to one sex act.

Nader “used his contacts and his wealth to accomplish” bringing the Czech boy into the U.S., prosecutor Jay Prabhu wrote.

The current case against Nader began in 2018 when images were found on his phone after it was confiscated under a search warrant connected to the Mueller probe.

The images found in Nader’s phones at Dulles International Airport ended up not being the basis for the child-pornography conviction. Instead, prosecutors relied on images and videos he received via email in 2012 that in some cases involved sadistic depictions of infants or toddlers.

Even though it had no bearing on the sentence Nader received, defense lawyers and prosecutors continued to argue at Friday’s sentencing hearing as to whether the images found on the phone were child pornography. Nader’s attorney, Jonathan Jeffress, acknowledged that the photos showed naked children and were obscene, but said they amounted to “dirty jokes” and that Nader had put his struggles with child pornography behind him in 2012.

Prosecutors say the images included clear depictions of child pornography and bestiality and show that Nader is a lifelong recidivist.

Parts of the sentencing papers detailing Nader’s testimony to the special counsel remain blacked out.

Nader, for his part, apologized for his actions at Friday’s hearing.

“I have listened to what’s been said about me,” he said. “I can say I am sincerely, deeply sorry for the suffering I have caused.”

Tyrell Robinson reportedly admitted to a sex offense with the child in an appearance at Bradford Crown Court. The offense reportedly occurred in August 2018, and resulted in charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child and making and distributing an indecent image of a child via Snapchat.

Robinson also denied another charge of distributing an indecent photograph of a child in December 2017, and prosecution reportedly said it would drop that charge.

The 22-year-old was reportedly warned he could face jail time for the offense, and will be sentenced at a later date after making bail. He has already been ordered to sign the sex offenders registry.

An English soccer star has admitted having sex with a 14-year-old girl and sharing child porn on Snapchat, according to reports.

Former Arsenal winger Tyrell Robinson, 22, pleaded guilty Tuesday to engaging in sexual activity with a child, as well as making and distributing an indecent image of a child, the BBC said.

He was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register before he was allowed to leave Bradford Crown Court on bail, the broadcaster said.

“All options will be open to the judge who deals with your case, and that will very much include the possibility of a prison sentence,” Judge Jonathan Rose warned him. A date was not given for sentencing.

The pro player — who was just 7 when he first played for Arsenal’s youth team — had been fired by Bradford City for gross misconduct after he was charged by police in February, the report said.

“He had a promising football career in front of him,” Mike Harrison, editor of a Bradford City fanzine, told the Bradford Telegraph & Argus.

“He has thrown it away for whatever sexual gratification he [had],” he said.

A former Bradford City footballer has been warned he could face jail after he pleaded guilty to a sex offence against a 14-year-old girl.

Tyrell Robinson, 22, admitted engaging in sexual activity with a child, making an indecent image of a child and distributing an indecent image of a child, when he appeared at Bradford Crown Court on Tuesday.

He will be sentenced at a later date.

Robinson, from South Ockendon, Essex, admitted engaging in sexual activity with the teenager in Bradford in August 2018.

He also entered a guilty plea to making and distributing an indecent image of a child via Snapchat on the same date.

He denied a further charge of distributing an indecent photograph of a child in December 2017, and the court heard the prosecution will not proceed with this count.

The winger, who was sacked by Bradford for gross misconduct after he was charged by police in February, arrived at court wearing a black face mask, white trainers, a dark red coat and cropped, grey, checked trousers.

He was granted bail until his sentencing and was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register before he left court.

Judge Jonathan Rose said: “Dealing with you Robinson, you pleaded guilty to all matters save the last count. The prosecution will not seek to try you on that count.

“Your case is now adjourned to be sentenced.”

He continued: “You must not assume that the fact that I’m adjourning sentence and granting you bail is to mean that any particular sentence will be imposed upon you.

“All options will be open to the judge who deals with your case, and that will very much include the possibility of a prison sentence.”

A second defendant, Korrie Berman, 21, from Essex, pleaded not guilty to five charges of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child.

He will go on trial on April 12 next year.

Bradford City declined to comment following today’s hearing.

Essex footballer due in court over child sex offence charges

A former professional footballer from Thurrock, Essex, is due in court accused of a string of sex offences.

Tyrell Robinson, 22, of South Ockendon, has been charged with engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child, one count of making an indecent image of a child and two counts of distributing an indecent image of a child.

The 22-year-old played for League Two side Bradford City before being sacked by the club over the accusations in February this year.

He appeared at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on June 2 via a Skype link where he signalled to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

Robinson is accused of sexually touching a 14-year-old girl in Bradford in August 2018, as well as being accused of making and distributing an indecent image of a child via Snapchat on the same day.

Robinson is also charged with distributing an indecent photograph of a child in a video sent by WhatsApp in December 2017.

The ex-winger will appear at Bradford Crown Court today (Tuesday, June 16).

Former Bradford City player appears before court via Skype accused of child sex offences

Former Bradford City player Tyrell Robinson has been sent to Bradford Crown Court on June 16 charged with child sex offences.

Robinson, 22, of South Ockendon, Essex, appeared via Skype at a hearing at West Yorkshire Magistrates’ Court sitting at Leeds this morning.

He was charged with engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child, making an indecent image of a child and two counts of distributing an indecent image of a child.

Robinson was not asked to enter pleas to any of the four counts.

He was unable to be heard by the court but they could see him on the screen and he indicated that he understood the charges.

The District Judge ordered Robinson to appear in person at the hearing at Bradford Crown Court.

His bail was enlarged on condition he lives at his home address so that letters from the court will reach him.

Robinson’s co-accused, Korrie Berman, appeared before the magistrates at a separate hearing this morning.

Berman, 21, of Barnmead Meadow, Grays, Thurrock, must also attend at Bradford Crown Court on June 16.

Robinson faces the following four charges:

On 13/08/2018 at Bradford, being a person aged 18 or over, intentionally touched a girl aged 14, not reasonably believing she was 16 or over, the touching being sexual and involving the penetration of her vagina with a part of your body, namely your penis.
On 13/08/2018 at Bradford made an indecent photograph, namely one Category A image recovered from snapchat stories, of children.
On 13/08/2018 at Bradford distributed an indecent photograph, namely Category A image via Snapchat to Berman, of children
On 17/12/2017 at Bradford distributed an indecent photograph, namely Category A video of a child.

Berman is charged with five offences of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15 at Bradford.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars star Telvin Smith arrested for allegedly having sex with minor – TheGrio

In 2019, Jacksonville Jaguar linebacker Telvin Smith told the Jaguars that after a five-year NFL career he was retiring so that he could “get his world” in order.

It looks like that never happened. The 2017 Pro Bowl player has now been accused of having sex with a minor according to Bleacher Report.

The 29-year-old Valdosta, Fl. native was drafted by the Jags in 2014 out of Florida State University a football powerhouse. Smith was signed to a 4-year, $45M extension in 2017.

According to TMZ, the arrest is related to an ongoing case from November 2019 when Smith was arrested after police came to his Jacksonville area home. The Jacksonville sheriff’s office tweeted about a raid on a marijuana growing outfit in a residential home that netted more than 50 pounds of ‘processed marijuana’ and $5700. But Smith was never identified as the person whose house was raided so that could have been a completely different case.

Now he’s accused of having sex with a 17-year-old multiple times and the Cadillac Escalade seized in the earlier raid has revealed a DNA match with the girl, according to TMZ. They also cite court documents that say Smith met the girl at her workplace and despite co-workers telling him she was underage, he continued to pursue her.

The Escalade is one of the places they allegedly had sex. Smith reportedly offered the girl $200 which she refused but then took $100 to buy emergency contraception according to arrest documents. She ultimately told her family about the encounters ultimately leading to today’s arrest.

Smith was arrested for “unlawful sexual activity with certain minors” and booked on $50,003 bail.

Smith played 76 games for the Jaguars and had 7.5 sacks, 586 total tackles, nine interceptions, six fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles, returning four turnovers for touchdowns.

Smith’s Instagram is set to private but after Kobe Bryant‘s death in January, he posted about not being able to imagine anything happening to his 5-year-old daughter and that he “didn’t want the next 5 years to go like the last 5.” And he added “I gotta get this right for her.”

The Jaguars, to whom Smith is still attached as he’s on their reserve/retired list according to Bleacher Report, released a statement that said:

“The Jaguars are aware of the report involving former linebacker Telvin Smith. The club is unable to comment further on this ongoing investigation.”

RCSD: Former Richland deputy, USC athlete faces new charge of having sex with student

A former Richland County deputy and University of South Carolina basketball player faces a new allegation that he had sex with a student from the high school he used to patrol.

Jamel Bradley, 40, turned himself in Wednesday evening after being charged with sexual battery with a student aged 16 or 17, a statement from the sheriff’s department said. The statement said Bradley had sex “repeatedly” with a Spring Valley High School student between October 2015 and May 2016.

Bradley worked as a Richland County deputy from December 2007 to October 2019. He was a school resource officer at Spring Valley High School, according to the sheriff’s department.

The alleged sexual battery did not involve “aggravated force or coercion,” according to court records.

“I am mad as hell that this monster hid behind the badge and my name for all this time,” Sheriff Leon Lott said. “This is beyond unacceptable behavior by anyone.”

The sheriff’s department charged Bradley after investigators discovered evidence of Bradley having sex with the teen from a deposition in a pending federal lawsuit, a department spokesperson said. Earlier this week, the sheriff’s department was notified that a confidentiality agreement was lifted, allowing investigators to use the information obtained during the deposition to file the latest charge.

Deputies jailed Bradley at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he was released on bond.

This is the second criminal charge against Bradley on allegations of having sex with a student.

In November, the sheriff’s department charged Bradley with third degree criminal sexual conduct. He was accused of using “force or coercion to accomplish sexual battery” against a different 17-year-old Spring Valley student, according to authorities.

If found guilty on both charges, Bradley could be punished with 15 years imprisonment.

Bradley was a record-setting point guard for the Gamecocks men’s basketball team in the early 2000s. He attempted to have a professional basketball career before becoming a deputy.

Beyond the criminal charges, Bradley also is embroiled in a civil lawsuit in which he is accused of sexually assaulting a third female Spring Valley student. The suit was filed in 2018.

In that lawsuit, it’s claimed that Bradley assaulted the student between March and April 2018. The lawsuit also says school officials knew about the assault and didn’t report it to police.

The sheriff’s department and Bradley denied the allegations in an answer to the lawsuit. The school district also denied any wrongdoing.

The sheriff’s department fired Bradley in October after the federal lawsuit was filed.

The lawsuit is still pending.

Bradley was accused of inappropriate relationships with students before 2018, according to department records.

In 2011, he was accused of acting in a “flirting” manner habitually with a cheerleader, the records show. A department internal investigation found Bradley hadn’t violated any rules of conduct.

In 2016, a parent told school officials Bradley was having a relationship with a female student and had sent her photos, according department filings. The photos were not described.

An investigation into the accusation by the department found that Bradley met with a female student behind a Target to give her advice on asking a boy to a dance. The sheriff warned Bradley about meeting with students privately and told him to always have another deputy with him.

Ex-NFL linebacker from Valdosta accused of having sex with minor in Florida – News Info Park

A former NFL player from Valdosta was arrested in Florida on Wednesday after allegedly having sex with an underage girl multiple times.

Telvin Smith, 29, who most recently played linebacker for the Jacksonville Jaguars, was taken into custody at his home and booked into the Duval County Jail shortly before 5:30 p.m., ESPN reported.

He is charged with one count of unlawful sexual activity with certain minors.

Smith’s warrant shows he is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old girl on multiple occasions, both at his Jacksonville home and inside his Cadillac Escalade, according to multiple media reports.

Authorities said the teenager’s DNA was recovered from Smith’s SUV, which was collected as evidence in December, Jacksonville-based WTLV reported.

According to the news station, the former NFL player met the girl at her job last summer and took several pictures with her. She and a coworker both testified that Smith knew how old she was at the time because she told him she had just celebrated her 17th birthday, according to his arrest warrants.

He also reportedly offered the teen money after one sexual encounter and instructed her not to tell anyone about their relationship or he could go to jail, according to his warrant. Instead, he told her to say he was serving as her “mentor” if anyone asked, authorities said.

In Florida, it is a second-degree felony for anyone 24 or older to engage in sexual activity with someone who is 16 or 17, ESPN reported.

Smith has since been released from jail after posting a $50,000 bond.

In a statement, the Jacksonville Jaguars said the team is aware of the charges involving the former linebacker, but unable to comment on the ongoing investigation.

The Valdosta native attended Lowndes High School before playing college football at Florida State. He was selected by the Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2014 draft.

In his five NFL seasons, Smith recorded 586 tackles, nine interceptions and 7.5 sacks through 76 games. Three of those interceptions were returned for touchdowns.

The team reached the AFC Championship game in January 2018 but lost to the New England Patriots 24-20.

In May 2019, Smith announced on social media that he would not play last season, saying he needed to take time off for his family and his health, ESPN reported. He was placed on the team’s reserve/retired list before training camp began in July.
