THE AFL advises the Match Review for the Sunday games of round two has been completed. Two charges were laid.

Charges Laid:

Jy Simpkin, North Melbourne, has been charged with Striking Lachie Whitfield, GWS GIANTS, during the fourth quarter of the Round Two match between the GWS GIANTS and North Melbourne, played at GIANTS Stadium on Sunday June 14.

In summary he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Careless Conduct, Low Impact and High Contact. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction as a first offence. The player can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.

Luke Parker, Sydney Swans, has been charged with a second offence of Careless Contact with an Umpire during the third quarter of the Round Two match between the Sydney Swans and Essendon, played at the SCG on Sunday June 14.

In summary, he can accept a $750 sanction with an early plea.

Based on available evidence, the incident was assessed as Careless Contact with an Umpire. The incident was classified as a $1250 sanction as a second offence. The player can accept a $500 sanction with an early plea.

Ex-FSU OL Jauan Williams Arrested on Battery Charges for Allegedly Striking GF

Former Florida State offensive lineman Jauan Williams was arrested Wednesday in Tallahassee and charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery for allegedly hitting his then-girlfriend on two occasions in 2018, according to Terry Spencer of the Associated Press.

According to court documents obtained by Spencer, the woman denied being hit at the time, but Tallahassee police said the case was “reopened last year after she contacted police saying Williams had sent her video of her having sex with another man.” Police said “she provided photos of bruises and text messages between her and Williams that support her allegations that he did strike her.”

“I didn’t do anything. I have so much disbelief, so much confusion,” Williams told Spencer, saying they argued but it never turned physical. “She is trying to kill my career.”

He also said that it would have been obvious to authorities at the time if a 6’7″ and 310-pound football player had struck her.

The woman told police in 2018 that Williams had overturned chairs and tables during their argument, throwing items, but hadn’t struck her. But Tallahassee police investigator Charzetta Felton-Stevens said that last year, the woman “told her that Williams had choked her, spit on her and dragged her across the floor.”

Additionally, she “shared text messages between her and Williams from that 2018 night where she wrote that she lied to officers about bruises and cuts and hid marijuana from them. The woman texted Williams photos of bruises on her chin, her arms, torso and legs that she accused him of inflicting.”

She also told Felton-Stevens that Williams had punched her in the face in a separate altercation.

Williams was released following his arrest on a $500 bond Thursday.

He is currently in the process of transferring away from Florida State and is no longer a part of the team there, the school told Spencer.

Former defensive end has been charged with a felony after repeatedly punching an assistant coach earlier this month during a home game against .

Lee, 22, was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury for the Nov. 11 incident, according to Davidson County (Tennessee) court records. Lee was arrested on Monday and released after posting a $7,500 bond, according to court records.

TSU strength coach T.J. Greenstone, whose job during games is to keep players away from the sideline to avoid penalties, was giving verbal directives to the team when he was hit multiple times in the head by Lee and then fell to the ground.

Greenstone “has subsequently been having medical difficulties as a result from the altercation,” according to the arrest affidavit.

Lee, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound part-time starter, was kicked off the team by coach Rod Reed and then expelled from the school.

Greenstone is a former Vanderbilt player who has been with Tennessee State since 2014.
