Callum Hudson-Odoi has been arrested on suspicion of rape after allegedly breaching lockdown to be with a woman.

The 19-year-old Chelsea forward was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning, with the Metropolitan Police confirming they and the London Ambulance Service had been called to ‘a report of an unwell woman’.

Hudson-Odoi reportedly had an argument with the woman at his home in south-west London. The unnamed woman was taken to hospital.

The England international has been released from custody and bailed. He must now return to a police station in mid-June as enquiries continue.

Chelsea declined to comment.

A police spokesman told The Sun this afternoon: “Police and London Ambulance Service were called at 03:53hrs on Sunday, 17 May to a report of an unwell woman.

“When emergency services attended, a woman reported that she was raped. She was taken to hospital.

“A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of rape. He was released from custody and bailed to return on a date in mid-June.”

Hudson-Odoi had made 17 appearances for Chelsea under Frank Lampard in the Premier League this season before the coronavirus pandemic brought football in the UK to a standstill.

The 19-year-old was one of the first high-profile sports people to contract COVID-19, which led to the campaign being suspended. He later released a short video to social media confirming he had recovered from the virus.

In the video, he said: “Guys, as you may be aware, I’ve had the virus for the last couple of days which I’ve recovered from.

“I’ve followed the guidelines and will be self-isolating for a week. I hope to see everybody soon, and hopefully we can get back on the pitch soon. Take care.”

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman he invited to his home was taken to hospital.

The 19-year-old has been released on bail and is due to return to a police station in June.

The woman, who is understood to have met Hudson-Odoi online, called police and ambulance services in the early hours of Sunday morning and was taken to hospital after reporting that she had been raped.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: ‘Police and London Ambulance Service were called at 03:53hrs on Sunday, 17 May to a report of an unwell woman.

‘When emergency services attended, a woman reported that she was raped. She was taken to hospital.

‘A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of rape. He was released from custody and bailed to return on a date in mid-June.’

According to a report in The Sun, Hudson-Odoi breached lockdown guidelines by arranging private transport for the woman to travel to his home.

The report also claims that Hudson-Odoi and the woman had exchanged ‘flirty’ messages.

A neighbour told The Sun that the woman arrived at Hudson-Odoi’s home on Saturday evening and added: ‘She looked very glamorous, like the sort of girl you’d see on Love Island.’

In March, Hudson-Odoi was the first English footballer to announce that he had contracted coronavirus.

Around three weeks later, the England international confirmed that he had made a full recovery.

‘I am feeling perfect,’ he said.

‘I had the virus which has cleared now. I fully feel good, I feel fit, so I am feeling back to myself so it is all good.

‘I had it three weeks ago now I think, on a Monday when I felt a bit hot and I was thinking this is a bit unusual, why do I feel this hot.

‘The next day I was feeling back to normal. I thought it was just a minor temperature thing, but obviously it wasn’t. I said to myself this wasn’t actually that bad, the symptoms, and I said to myself I feel good, I feel better.’

The former NFL quarterback was taken into custody around 2 PM PT. He was booked for domestic battery — and bail was set at $5,000. As of this writing, he is in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.The incident comes at a time when Leaf was covering college football as an analyst for ESPN and had been forthcoming about his sobriety and the abuse issues that led to him spending time in jail.

Leaf, 44, played college football at Washington State. He was the second pick in the 1998 NFL Draft behind Peyton Manning by the San Diego Chargers. He was 4-17 as a starter in three NFL seasons, two with the Chargers and one with the Dallas Cowboys.

Leaf found all sorts of trouble on and off the field with San Diego after his short time there in his NFL career. He was arrested twice in 2012 and charged with burglary and theft of prescription drugs. In 2014, Leaf was sentenced to five years for breaking into a home in Montana to steal prescription drugs, and for violating probation.

Leaf has been engaged to Anna Kleinsorge, a former Georgetown volleyball player, since 2017. Kleinsorge gave birth to their first child, McGyver, in October of 2017.

 

Former Washington State and NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf was arrested Friday in Palm Springs, California, according to jail records.

Leaf, 44, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery by the Palm Desert Police Department at 1:59 p.m. Friday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s office jail records. Leaf is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday and is being held on $5,000 bail.

Leaf played for the Cougars from 1995-97 and led them to the 1998 Rose Bowl, their first appearance in the game in 67 years. He was selected with the second overall pick in the 1998 NFL draft by the San Diego Chargers.

The former quarterback has had a history of substance-abuse and legal troubles. In 2014, Leaf was sentenced to five years for breaking into a home in Montana to steal prescription drugs, and for violating a probation. He was arrested twice in 2012 and charged with burglary and theft of prescription drugs.

Leaf has been engaged to Anna Kleinsorge, a former Georgetown volleyball player, since 2017. Kleinsorge gave birth to their first child, McGyver, in October of 2017. Leaf was formerly married to Nicole Lucia, at the time a cheerleader for the San Diego Chargers – but the two separated in 2003 and later filed for divorce.

Leaf has been open about his road to sobriety since and was hired by ESPN as a college football analyst in 2019.

A William & Mary football player is facing serious allegations which landed him in jail over the weekend.

George Eberle, 19, is charged with felony breaking and entering and misdemeanor sexual battery, Williamsburg Police said.

Police said officers were called to the 200 block of Matoaka Court to investigate a breaking and entering call at 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

Police spokesman John Heilman said their initial investigation indicated Eberle went inside a woman’s home without the woman’s permission and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Heilman said the two did not know each other and police reports show they are both students at William & Mary.

Heilman said there was no damage to the home and no injuries were reported.

Eberle was arrested later that morning and was taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. He was released Monday on a $10,000 bond.

Heilman said Eberle did not undergo a Breathalyzer test at the time of his arrest.

Eberle, who is from Califon, New Jersey, is a freshman at William & Mary. He’s a kicker on the college’s football team.

Suzanne Clavet, spokeswoman for William & Mary, issued this statement:

“The university is aware of the student arrest and we have been cooperating with the appropriate authorities. In accordance with federal privacy laws and university policy, we do not comment on student disciplinary matters. Williamsburg Police is the investigating agency so any questions related to the case should go to them.”
