Mario Lang, aged 57, was arrested at Baulkham Hills and taken to Castle Hill police station, where he was charged with conspiring to import a commercial quantity of drugs.

Around the same time 34-year-old Deniz Kanmez was arrested at Muswellbrook police station and charged with drug supply, knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime and participating in a criminal group.

A third man, Frank Farrugia, 36, was also arrested at the five-star Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour hotel and subsequently charged with drug supply, knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime and directing the activities of a criminal group.

All three men did not apply for bail on Tuesday. They will next appear before a court on August 11.

A search warrant was also executed at a business at Altair Place, Jamisontown, in Sydney’s west in connection with the NSW Crime Commission Criminal Assets Recovery Act.

Two of the five men – aged 34 and 37 – were arrested in Dubai last week. Both men are understood to be Australians who were living in the United Arab Emirates.

They were arrested by Dubai police after detectives applied for arrest warrants in January, before Interpol red notices were issued this month. Police will seek to extradite the men to Australia.

Tuesday’s raids were extensive and involved officers from the public order and riot squad, north west metropolitan region enforcement squad, the dog unit, traffic and highway patrol command and Australian Border Force investigators.

It takes the number of people arrested by Strike Force Millstream investigators in Sydney to 19, with 16 people previously charged over their alleged roles in illicit activities.

Charges against other people are expected to be laid later on Tuesday and the investigation is ongoing.

Police have found a firearm and a knife away from the home, she said.

“I cannot confirm we have the murder weapon at this stage,” Superintendent Scholz said.

Two women, aged 34 and 43, were also in the home at the time.

The younger woman had some minor injuries and was treated at the scene, Superintendent Scholz said. Two individuals apparently left the property on foot while three men drove away in a vehicle.

A police helicopter, the riot squad and dog unit searched the area and arrested two male teenagers – aged 16 and 17.

Both were on Sunday charged with murder and have been refused bail.

They are due to appear before a children’s court on Monday.

Police are calling for anyone who may have seen anything and are also appealing for information about the identification and location of the three other men.

Tim Payne has established himself at right back in the Wellington Phoenix defence.

Tim Payne has issued a tearful apology after the Wellington Phoenix defender was charged with a drink-driving offence while the team was supposed to be in self-isolation.

Football Federation Australia have launched an investigation after Payne and Phoenix team-mate Oliver Sail were stopped by New South Wales Police while joyriding in a golf cart on Oxford Falls Road at 1:20am on Tuesday.

Both players are expected to cop a hefty fine or suspension.

“I just want to say I am incredibly sorry and incredibly embarrassed for what I’ve done,” Payne told Radio Sport.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and for what unfolded on that night. I’ve let so many people down including my partner, my family, the club as a whole and individuals such as Uffie [coach Ufuk Talay], who has given me a chance this season.

“I’m incredibly embarrassed and so sorry that I’ve let so many people down.”

Police conducted a roadside breath test, which Payne returned a positive result. He was subsequently taken to Mona Vale Police Station, where he allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.100.

He was charged with a drive middle-range PCA and will appear before a Manly Local Court on June 10.

According to the Transport for NSW website a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 to less than 0.15 and carries a minimum disqualification of six months and maximum court-imposed fine of $2200 for a first offence.

The FFA said in a statement the matter is being taken very seriously and If any misconduct is found to have occurred, they will take action under the code’s national code of conduct.

“There will be some legal sanctions in Australia, yes. I take full responsibility for that and whatever the club decides and the FFA decides, I’ll take full responsibility,” Payne said.

“It was the last day before we left to come home and myself and Oliver Sail took a golf cart for a ride in the early hours of the evening. Contrary to reports we weren’t arrested and the public did not intervene.”

On the books of Blackburn Rovers as a teenager, Payne has worked hard to resurrect football career in recent seasons following spells with national league sides Auckland City and Eastern Suburbs.

The 26-year-old was invited to trial with the Phoenix in pre-season but has since become a regular at right-back after stepping in to replace the injured Louis Fenton in round five.

The Phoenix confirmed there was an incident involving Payne and Sail which resulted in damage to the Sydney Academy of Sport facility they were staying at while in isolation.

They said they are taking the matter “very seriously” and will make a further statement when their own internal investigation is complete.

“It was definitely a mistake on my behalf. It’s just one of those things you wish you could take back. With anything you do in life, there’s got to be repercussions… I 100 per cent expect there to be repercussions for my actions.”

Payne could avoid attending court in Sydney by lodging his plea from New Zealand.

The Active Power Tennis website says Mr Younan has been a coach for over four decades.

“He has years of experience living, breathing and loving tennis,” the website reads.

“He is a member of Tennis Australia, has level 1 and 2 coaching qualifications and has previously coached ranked players.”

Tennis Australia said Mr Younan had previously been involved with the organisation, but was no longer.

Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commander Detective Superintendent John Kerlatec said on Thursday morning Mr Younan had allegedly groomed the girl over a period of months, before a six-month period of offending between July and December this year which ended when the child told her parents about the alleged abuse.

“We believe … there was a series of grooming taking place,” he said.

Mr Younan had allegedly been coaching the victim for two years, Det Supt Kerlatec said.

Police will also allege some of the sexual offending also took place at the tennis centre in Lindfield’s Queen Elizabeth Park.

“We are open to information,” Det Supt Kerlatec said when asked if police were speaking to other students at the tennis school.

Mr Younan is unmarried, childless, and lives alone in Lindfield.

He briefly appeared at Hornsby Local Court on Thursday, where he was formally refused bail.

Mr Younan will return to court in January and will appear via audio-visual link.

Following an investigation into the incident, which took place on November 13, the Tesla that struck 26-year-old Julien Trameaux was linked to Mirzikinian. At the time, police refused to name the businessman as the driver, but he was taken into custody for routine drug and alcohol tests.

Death by Dangerous Driving

Upon further examination of the evidence, the tournament winner was charged with two counts of manslaughter, including “dangerous driving occasioning death” and “negligent driving occasioning death.”

Details of the collision haven’t been released, but Trameaux, who worked as a laborer by day and takeaway delivery cyclist by night, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“He worked on a number of our sites over 18 months and worked with many project managers, so he’ll be missed. He would be working away and would ask if he could get anyone a drink. You can’t train initiative. He had a generous heart. I really feel for his parents,” Trameaux’s former boss Matt Bell told Nine News shortly after the fatal accident.

Mirzikinian appeared at Rose Bay police station on February 18, where he was issued with a notice to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court magistrate on April 18. Under the New South Wales’ penal code, Mirzikinian could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Career On and Off the Felt

Mainstream media reports have suggested Mirzikinian is one of Australia’s best-known poker players. A closer look at his Hendon Mob results, however, show his best year came in 2017, when he banked just under $300,000, thanks to three tournament wins in Sydney and a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure cash.

He is listed as Australia’s 57th-ranked player for live tournament winnings.

Along with $756,878 in tournament earnings, Mirzikinian has been run various companies, including the Strathfield Group Ltd., which sells home, office, and automobile entertainment systems.

From his personal and professional achievements, Mirzikinian had bought a luxury house in the same area as Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. His home had previously been in the news back in 2017, when a large sinkhole opened up outside his four-bedroom abode.

The 49-year-old Point Piper man, who lives near Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in Australia’s most expensive suburb, was driving a Tesla electric car during the collision, which occurred shortly after 6pm on November 13.

Mirzikinian attended Rose Bay police station on Sunday and was issued with a future attendance notice to appear before a Downing Centre Local Court magistrate on April 18.

Mr Trameaux, who died at the scene of the crash, had worked as an UBEREats delivery cyclist at night after finishing his day shifts as a labourer.

Mr Mirzikinian is a renowned Australian poker player who has competed in a number high roller events.

He had been involved in the industry for almost 10 years and has amassed more than $640,000 in winnings.

Mr Mirzikinian has collected nearly $100,000 this year at events at Star Sydney, the Nine Network said.

He lives in a lavish four-bedroom home with his wife Kristy, who is a friend of PR queen Roxy Jacenko.

The death was the fifth cyclist fatality on NSW Roads in 2017, Transport NSW said.

Mr Mirzikinian’s wife last year made headlines when a sinkhole the size of a backyard swimming pool opened up outside their Point Piper home, cutting power and interrupting personal training sessions.

‘My personal trainer has come, my electricity is off and now I don’t know what to do,’ said Ms Mirzikinian in her blue gym gear and clutching a Mercedes Benz umbrella.

Two men involved in a dramatic arrest in Centennial Park last week have been charged with the supply of almost one tonne of cocaine, carrying an estimated street value of $360 million.

Aukuso Junior Paulo, 34, from Crows Nest, and Kigi Kamuta, 39, from The Ponds, were two of three men arrested while travelling with two semi-automatic weapons and $650,000 in cash, during a planned police operation in the eastern suburbs park.

Cocaine supply charges over Centennial Park bust

Police have accused two men of supplying almost one tonne of cocaine, along with possessing a firearm and participating in a criminal group.

A third man, Royce Royal Hura, 27, was also arrested at the scene.

Both Mr Hura and Mr Paulo are former players of the Parramatta Eels rugby league club.

Following their arrest, all three men were charged with possessing an unauthorised pistol, possessing ammunition without holding a licence, knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime and participating in a criminal group.

However, on Monday, strike force investigators laid further charges against Mr Paulo and Mr Kamuta for the supply of 900 kilograms of cocaine.

The “far more serious charge” was apparently news to the lawyer for Mr Paulo, Nick Hanna, who had the intention of applying for bail on behalf of the 34-year-old at Central Local Court on Tuesday.

“On arriving in court, I was informed first by a journalist and then by the prosecution that a new charge had been laid against Mr Paulo,” Mr Hanna told the court, later adding that “not even the DPP were given notice of the charge until Tuesday morning”.

“It is bewildering that this charge was not filed and served on the defence yesterday … my staff and I worked very late preparing the release application.”

Expressing his frustration, Mr Hanna said he was “not in a position to apply for release” and withdrew the application.

Bail was formally refused and Mr Paulo will spend Christmas behind bars, to reappear via audio-visual link on February 20 next year.

As Mr Hura was not charged in relation to the supply of the 900 kilograms of cocaine, his legal representation continued with an application for bail on Tuesday, on grounds that the Crown’s submission was “not a strong case”.

His lawyer Arjun Chhabra argued that Mr Hura was merely the driver of one of the two vehicles stopped in Centennial Park and that he did not know the contents of the backpack in the vehicle; which contained two semi-automatic firearms and ammunition and lay at the feet of the co-defendant in the passenger seat.

The $650,000 in cash and a number of encrypted Blackberry devices were located in the second vehicle.

Mr Chhabra told the court of Mr Hura’s extensive family support network, many of whom were in court on Tuesday, and who would put up their own homes as surety if he were released.

However Magistrate John Andrews ultimately found the prosecution had presented a “much stronger case”.

He pointed to detailed police surveillance that indicated conversations and evidence between all three men, including Mr Hura, in relation to the “laundering of money and the possession of firearms in Centennial Park”.

Bail was formally refused, with Mr Hura to also appear in court via audio-visual link on February 20.

Last week’s dramatic arrests, in which non-lethal projectiles were deployed by police in front of a park cafe, were the result of Strike Force Mangowa, a joint State Crime Command and Australian Crime Intelligence Commission investigation into the activities of an organised criminal group in Sydney.

On Tuesday Detective Chief Superintendent Tony Cooke, head of the Organised Crime Squad, said the latest charges would “send a signal to all criminals that they can expect the full scope of the law”.

“We’ll use every law at our disposal to prosecute those criminals and disrupt their operations,” he said.

Chief Superintendent Cooke said he could not speak about the operation in detail, but added that more arrests and charges were anticipated.
