A 16-year-old was also arrested in Warriewood at about 4.30am on Sunday and all four were taken to Manly police station.

Three of the teenagers were charged with affray, using offensive language in or near a public space and resisting or hindering a police officer in the execution of duty.

Four teenagers have been charged with stealing Australian rugby union star James O’Connor’s car after a police chase which ended at an inner Brisbane shopping centre.

The three boys and a girl, aged 14-15, are facing multiple charges after Wallabies and Queensland Reds player O’Connor’s white Land Rover was allegedly stolen from an Auchenflower home on Monday.

The teens then allegedly used the car to speed through Brisbane’s south on Tuesday when police spotted it in Inala.

It was tracked by police helicopter on the Logan Motorway to Larapinta about 2.30pm.

“The vehicle was tracked as it continued to allegedly be driven dangerously throughout local streets and suburbs, travelling through red lights,” police said in a statement.

They allegedly drove into the car park at Toowong Village in Brisbane’s inner-west, from where they are accused of ditching the vehicle and making a run for the train station.

“A short foot pursuit commenced and the four were taken into custody without incident,” police said.

They have been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary and commit and indictable offence and receiving tainted property.

They are expected to face the Brisbane Children’s Court on a later date.

O’Connor, a veteran of 52 tests, is the second Brisbane-based sports star to have his car stolen allegedly by youths.

AFL forward Charlie Cameron allegedly had his Mercedes taken by a local gang in March.

Mr Kourtis was in his house in Langton Street, Riverstone, in the early hours of Sunday morning, when, police said, “a group of at least five males entered the home and stabbed the male occupant, before fleeing”.

Friends and family are baffled about how the tradesman, who had moved to Australia from Cyprus eight years ago, came to lose his life in such horrific circumstances.

“It’s so confusing to me that a bunch of teenagers would [allegedly] do this,” said the friend who said that, to her knowledge, Mr Kourtis wasn’t mixed up with shady people and didn’t do drugs.

“He only had certain people close to him.”

Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, were tracked by police dogs from his home to a property on nearby Regent Street, where they were arrested.

The pair, who are not believed to be co-operating with investigators, were charged with murder.

They appeared briefly at Parramatta Children’s Court on Monday and were formally refused bail.

They are due to appear again in July.

As police continue to hunt for the other alleged attackers, detectives are inestigating whether Mr Kourtis knew the boys.

“One of the lines that we are pursuing [is] that it was a targeted attack or that the offenders were known to the deceased or the deceased knew the offenders,” Superintendent Jenny Scholz said on Sunday.

Mr Kourtis’ cousin Jodie Kourtis said that his violent death would haunt the family for the rest of their lives.

“Kevin had a kind heart and never deserved such a tragic ending to his life,” she wrote on Facebook.

“Our cousin Kevin will be missed and we will always remember our times together.”

The family are now raising money to repatriate Mr Kourtis’ body to Cyprus, where his mother still lives.

Three teenagers are accused of coercing a 12-year-old girl to have sex with them.

Cleveland County Sheriff’s detectives believe the trio of 17-year-old boys communicated with the girl through text and instant messages and “manipulated” her into having sex with them.

Two out of the three have been arrested.

Kamarde Huskey, 18, and Destin Miller, 17, have both been charged, said Major Joel Shores with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators became aware of the situation after the girl’s sister found “inappropriate” text messages on her phone and showed their mother.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Huskey had been sneaking into the home through a window to have sex with girl, Shores said. Detectives allegedly found his jacket in the girl’s room.

Along with this, she allegedly was invited to the movies by one of the other 17 year old’s and performed a sex act with him, Shores said.

The incidents allegedly happened between Aug. 1-31, 2019, according to Cleveland County Court records.

Huskey, of Shelby, was arrested Wednesday at Burns High School on charges of indecent liberties with a child and statutory rape. He is accused of molesting the girl when he was 17, according to Cleveland County Court records.

In his first appearance in court on Thursday, the teen spoke softly to Cleveland County District Court Judge Jeanette Reeves. Her first question was how old he was.

His family and a man identified as Huskey’s mentor were present. The mentor spoke to Reeves asking for a lower bond. Cleveland County Assistant District Attorney Will Wiseman objected to it, citing that it was a victim’s rights case.

“This is a serious matter,” he said.

The girl is not a relative and goes to a different school, according to information given during first appearance.

Huskey’s mentor described Huskey as a star football player.

“I don’t see how that matters here,” Wiseman said.

Huskey played for Shelby High School this past semester. He just transferred to Burns on Wednesday, according to Huskey.

Reeves did not lower the $100,000 bond set for Huskey but did set a bond hearing for Jan. 23.

Miller also was charged on Wednesday. He is charged with first degree statutory sex offense and indecent liberties with a child.

He too was assigned a $100,000 bond.

This incident is still under investigation. A third arrest is pending, Shores said.

MOBILE, AL (WALA) -

Teenagers arrested in connection to the beating of a former Davidson High School football player appeared in court Wednesday morning.

Eighteen-year-olds Alex Sullivan, Ellis Wright and Laquinton Williams Jr. were either in court or represented in court. All are charged with third-degree assault.

Authorities say they were identified from a video that shows 14-year-old Rodney Kim Jr. being beaten inside the Davidson locker room. Four other juveniles — all also former teammates of Kim — have been charged as well.

Wright did not appear Wednesday morning but was represented in the court proceeding. Williams and Sullivan both appeared.

All three 18-year-olds are entering not-guilty pleas. Their petitions to be considered youthful offenders will be determined at a later date.

For all three of the former Davidson players who are 18, a judge ordered that none may have any contact with Kim. Bond could be revoked for any defendant who has any contact with Kim.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Nearly one year after a college baseball player was shot and killed while trying to buy an iPhone in west Charlotte, two teens charged in his death appeared in court on Thursday.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, 21-year-old Zachary Finch was shot and killed the afternoon of June 18 in the 2300 block of Farmer Street. Finch was reportedly in the area to buy an upgraded iPhone and used an app where he thought he was meeting a legitimate seller.  But something went wrong, and police believe there was a robbery and Finch was shot, police say.

Demonte McCain, 17, and Jahzion Wilson, 15, were both charged with murder. Wilson and another 15-year-old were arrested in July and McCain was arrested in October.

Wilson entered a not guilty plea in court on Thursday. McCain is expected to appear back in court in two weeks. McCain’s attorney says he has new evidence he needs to review.

Tara Finch, Zachary’s mother, was upset following the court hearing and was hoping the teens would plead guilty instead of asking for more time.

“I’m furious,” Zachary’s mother said in a one-on-one interview with WBTV in Oct. 2017. “I want to know who raised these men to be so violent and hateful.”

“You wonder when it will stop. I do not know if there are more or not. God, I would hope not,” Finch’s mother said. “Zachary loved life and these three hateful individuals they didn’t know him and they didn’t give him a chance. I think kids need to think about who they are impacting. It is not one life taken because Zachary was loved by so many people, it is hundreds of lives.”

Finch was a senior at the University of the Cumberlands (UC) in Williamsburg, Ky., and a member of the Patriots baseball team, the University says.

To honor Finch’s love for baseball, and his position on the University of Cumberlands’ baseball team, many who attended Finch’s funeral wore University of Cumberlands’ baseball t-shirts.

Through tears, Tara Finch, also thanked CMPD for “staying on this case for this long.”

“I am so sorry I could not have protected him from this violence,” said Finch. “We love him and we miss him, but I am so proud of the man that he was.”

After Finch’s killing, police opened 14 “exchange zones” at QuikTrip convenience stores where people can more safely conduct online transactions.

Wilson is being tried as an adult.

The name of the second 15-year-old has not been released.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two teenagers charged in the murder of a college baseball player will be in court Thursday.

The fatal shooting of Zachary Finch happened nearly a year ago and both suspects are expected to enter a plea during their court appearance.

The family of Finch said if the two accused killers accept a plea deal, they will be able to confront them in court. If the pair rejects the deal, then the case will go to trial.

Finch was killed when he tried to buy a cellphone at an apartment complex in west Charlotte last June.

Police arrested 18-year-old Demonte McCain and 15-year-old Jah’zian Wilson and charged them both with murder.

Two of Wilson’s friends told investigators he was the one who shot Finch.

Both suspects are teens but are being tried as adults for first-degree murder.

The past 12 months have been extremely painful for Finch’s family. His mother has been coming to court every 10 days to make sure a judge does not let the two teens accused of killing her son out of jail.

They told Channel 9 that they will be in court again on Thursday, waiting to see if the case will finally come to a close.

Channel 9 will be inside the courtroom Thursday and will have every development on this case on Eyewitness News.

BIXBY, Okla. — Four ex-football players at an Oklahoma high school have been charged with the sexual assault of a teammate that prosecutors say wasn’t promptly reported.

Special prosecutor Matt Ballard on Thursday filed a second-degree rape by instrumentation charge against the Bixby High School students. Three are 17 years old and one is 16.

They each face up to 15 years in prison.

Prosecutors are still investigating whether school officials took too long to tell police about the accusation. They say school leadership waited eight days to report what was first deemed hazing after a 16-year-old said a teammate in September assaulted him with a pool cue while others restrained him.

The superintendent of the Tulsa-area school district resigned in December amid the fallout.

This story corrects the ages of the four accused juveniles.
