KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee defensive lineman has been charged with domestic assault and public intoxication after police say he shoved his girlfriend.

Darel Middleton was arrested early Saturday morning for an incident that started with a fight with another man, The Knoxville News Sentinel reported.

An arrest warrant says Middleton, 23, shoved his girlfriend to the ground after a fight. Middleton was jealous of one of his girlfriend’s male friends, “became very angry” and began fighting with his own friend, according to the report.

The police report said Middleton’s girlfriend tried to break up the fight, and he shoved her to the ground. After apologizing, he shoved her again, according to the report.

Middleton, a senior, is a junior college transfer who played in high school at Oak Ridge.

Patriots cornerback Joejuan Williams’ first NFL offseason isn’t off to a great start.

The 22-year-old man was arrested on drug-related charges on Jan. 17 after being pulled over in Cumberland County, about a hundred miles east of Nashville, a Tennessee Highway Patrol report shows.

According to reports and his arrest warrants, a trooper stopped Williams on Interstate 40 near mile marker 333 at 9:37 p.m. for speeding in his 2016 black Land Rover. The report shows he was traveling 90 mph in a 70 mph zone.

During a search, reports show the trooper found acetaminophen hydrocodone prescription pills, valacyclovir hydrocodone pills, “a large amount of marijuana,” hand-rolled marijuana cigarettes, and illegal paraphernalia inside the SUV.

New England Patriots corner back Joejuan Williams was arrested on Jan. 17 in Nashville, Tennessee.

He was cited for speeding and also charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drugs without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show.

Williams was booked into the Cumberland County jail that same day and released on Jan. 18 after posting a $37,500 bond.

He’s due in court on Feb. 21 to enter a plea in his respective charges, a Cumberland County General Sessions Court court clerk said Thursday.

A former NBA player is facing new charges in a Tennessee sex trafficking case after initial charges were dismissed by a judge two months ago.

The charges were brought against Jim Farmer, 55, of Franklin, Tenn., in Rutherford County on Jan. 10. He was released on a $100,000 bond.

His attorneys told the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal that he will plead not guilty at his next court appearance.

Farmer was arrested in October and charged with human trafficking. He was accused of arranging to have sex with an undercover officer posing as a 16-year-old girl.

FORMER NBA PLAYER ARRESTED ON SEX CHARGES IN TENNESSEE

“Indictments were pursued despite a former hearing where the General Sessions Judge reviewed … all audio and video evidence compiled, heard testimony from the lead detective and ultimately made the determination that the charge should be dismissed because the evidence did not meet the lowest probable cause standard to bind the case over to the grand jury,” Farmer’s lawyers told the paper.

The new indictment accuses Farmer of attempted trafficking for sexual servitude, attempted patronizing prostitution and attempted solicitation of a minor, according to the paper.

He allegedly arranged to meet the girl through a fake ad on the website of an adult escort service.

The sting netted 15 other men, according to reports.

Farmer selected in the first round of the 1987 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks out of the University of Alabama.

Former NBA player and one-time University of Alabama basketball standout Jim Farmer is facing a human trafficking charge in Middle Tennessee.

Farmer, 55, of Franklin, Tenn. was among 16 men arrested on charges of seeking sex from minors, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reported this week. A statement from the agency says the men were arrested during a two-day sting operation that began on Oct. 24.

According to an arrest affidavit, Farmer responded to an adult escort advertisement on Oct. 25 in regards to meeting a juvenile for sex.

During the communication, a female undercover officer identified herself as a 16-year-old girl. Farmer, the affidavit continues, agreed to pay $170 to have sex with the girl.

Farmer arrived at a predetermined location made between the two and was subsequently arrested on one count of trafficking of sexual servitude, authorities said.

He was booked into the Rutherford County jail that same day and released Tuesday on $75,000 bond.

A Rutherford County court clerk said Farmer is due in court for a hearing on the charge on Nov. 13.

A representative for Farmer didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment Wednesday.

Farmer has worked as a country music singer and model since last playing in the NBA in 1994, when he was with Denver. He also played for Dallas, Utah, Seattle and Philadelphia over six total seasons.

Farmer was a leading scorer at Alabama before being picked in the first round of the NBA draft in 1987.

Following his professional basketball career, Farmer pursued a country music career in the early 2000s that included the release of a 10-song album, “Baby Come On.”

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The ex-wife of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright will not fight authorities’ attempt to send her from California to Tennessee, where she’s charged with killing him nearly eight years ago.

Sherra Wright briefly appeared in Riverside County Superior Court on Monday and agreed to go back to Tennessee to face first-degree murder charges, the Desert Sun newspaper reported.

Authorities now have 30 days to bring her to Memphis, where Lorenzen Wright’s decomposing body was found in 2010. The 34-year-old had been shot multiple times.

He played for 13 seasons as a forward and center in the NBA, including several for the Grizzlies in Memphis, where he was born and raised.

Sherra Wright was arrested in December. Her attorney, Eric Keen, would not say Monday why she decided to waive extradition after previously vowing to fight it. Keen said lawyers in Tennessee will now take over the case.

Superior Court Judge David Gunn asked Sherra Wright several questions to make sure she understood she would be extradited. Each time, she said, “Yes.”

A man, who Keen identified as Sherra Wright’s husband, attended the hearing, the newspaper reported. He did not speak to reporters.

A December statement from the Shelby County district attorney’s office in Tennessee said Sherra Wright and a landscaper named Billy R. Turner conspired to kill Lorenzen Wright.

Turner was arrested last month after a gun used in the killing was discovered in a lake in Mississippi. He also has been charged with first-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty.

Sherra Wright received $1 million from her ex-husband’s life insurance policy. She agreed to a settlement in 2014 in a court dispute over how she spent the money meant to benefit their six children, the Commercial Appeal newspaper in Memphis has reported.
