The father of the University of Connecticut student and former high school football player in Fairfield County who is the subject of a massive manhunt for two slayings was arrested last month for sexual assault.

Robert Manfredonia, 54, of Waterbury, turned himself in at Newtown Police headquarters on Tuesday, April 28, after learning there was a warrant for his arrest, said Lt. Aaron  Bahamonde.

He was arrested for an alleged sexual assault that occurred on Friday, April 10.

He was charged with sexual assault, risk of injury to a child, providing liquor to a minor, the arrest report shows.

According to the

New York Post

, the father is accused of providing alcohol to two teen girls, and then touching one of the teens when the other teen left.

He was released after posting a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 1.

Robert Manfredonia’s son, 2015 Newtown High School graduate Peter Manfredonia, 23, is still at large having last been seen in the Poconos region of Pennsylvania,

Peter Manfredonia is wanted, for two homicides, a home invasion, and a kidnapping.

Manfredonia, a senior at UConn, was last seen on Sunday, May 24, in East Stroudsberg, located in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, walking behind a Walmart where he had been dropped off by an Uber driver. A surveillance photo was later released by state police showing him walking on train tracks. (See the third image above.)

His family issued a statement on Monday, May 25, pleading with their son to turn himself in.

“It’s time to surrender,” his parents said. “You have your parents and your sisters and your family’s entire support.”

He is reportedly heavily armed with several firearms – pistols and long guns – and presumed dangerous, Connecticut State Police said.

The younger Manfredonia is described as being 6-foot-3, with disheveled, black hair, brown eyes, and weighing approximately 240 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, gray sweatpants, and carrying a duffel bag.

US legal papers recount the details of Ghosn’s escape including his departure from Japan hidden in a large black box aboard a private jet.

The Japanese embassy in Washington and Nissan did not immediately comment. A representative for Ghosn declined to comment.

Federal prosecutors asked the judge to order both men detained. “The very offence for which Michael Taylor is charged in Japan demonstrates his aptitude for hatching escape plans on a grand scale and his blatant disrespect for bond conditions,” they said in a court filing.

Earlier this month, Turkish prosecutors prepared an indictment charging seven people, including four pilots, over Ghosn’s escape via Istanbul to Beirut.

US law enforcement learned Peter Taylor had booked a flight from Boston to Beirut departing Wednesday with a layover in London. He was arrested as was Michael Taylor in Harvard, Massachusetts.

In September, Nissan and Ghosn settled US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) claims over false financial disclosures related to Ghosn’s compensation.

The SEC said in total Nissan in its financial disclosures omitted more than $US140 million ($212 million) to be paid to Ghosn in retirement — a sum that ultimately was not paid. Nissan paid $US15 million and Ghosn $US1 million to resolve the investigation. Ghosn also agreed to a 10-year ban from serving as an officer or director of a publicly traded U.S. company.

The SEC also said Ghosn engaged in a scheme to conceal more than $US90 million of compensation. Nissan sued Ghosn in February seeking about $US90 million.

The SEC said beginning in 2004 Nissan’s board delegated to Ghosn the authority to set individual director and executive compensation levels, including his own. “Ghosn and his subordinates, including Kelly, crafted various ways to structure payment of the undisclosed compensation after Ghosn’s retirement,” the agency added.

Detectives assigned to the Savanna-la-Mar Criminal Investigation Branch in Westmoreland have levelled multiple charges against one of the parish’s most wanted men.

He is Davion Brown, otherwise called ‘Balti’ of a Savanna-la-Mar address.

Brown was arrested by the Police on December 15 following an operation in Grange Hill in the parish.

The police say a pistol with five rounds of ammunition was also found in his possession.

In August, Brown was named as wanted for the murder of 22-year-old Ocielle Hall on Great Georges Street in Westmoreland and in September he allegedly engaged lawmen in a confrontation, during their attempt to apprehend him.

The police say Brown was interviewed in the presence of his lawyer and was formally charged with murder, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

The police say detectives continue to follow strong leads on other cases where they consider Brown to  have been a major player.

They are appealing to the public to share information on crimes which Brown may have committed.

He is scheduled to appear before the Westmoreland Parish Court on January 9, 2018.
